.. POTUS is an aloof , arrogant , above – it – all S.O.B. .
.. [h/t http://www.theGatewayPundit.com]

.. What leadership style ? He does not have one . He does not know the meaning of the word ..
.. It is to be thankful that (yes , amazingly) Patty Murray negotiated with Paul Ryan on the recent budget deal . Not that I am wild about it . i am not all that thrilled about it , though .
.. Tactically , it is not the best thing to happen . Strategically , though , it is , at least for the G.O.P. . The Dems are backpeddaling like crazy on ObamaCrapCare , and are forced to defend it . its problems and hiccups keep popping up every day , it seems . The Dems are dreading having to defend the bill during the election campaign , and are realizing that there will be fewer of them , and more of the GOP after November ‘ s elections .

.. Why , may you ask ?
.. with good reasons :
[-] a truly bipartisan bill will attract much more support from the senior levels of both parties , ..
[-] a bill with that much support will make it as an amendment onto any relevant bill , ..
[-] that support will put Dingy Harry Reid in a spot ; he will have to let the bill come to the floor , ..
[-] it will put POTUS in an impossible situation ; he will want to veto the bill , but the votes will be there to override , and by plenty , ..
[-] such a bill will piss off Iran , and give it the excuse it needs to walk away from the so – called nuclear talks in Geneva , Switzerland .
.. I support the bill . The Iran nuclear deal is an obscene joke ; It does not slow down Iran ‘ s nuclear program one bit . The ObamaCraps have issued a veto threat , but , I hope , someone in there is telling His Lordship that the votes are there , or will be there by plenty to pass the bill in both Houses of Congress by veto – proof margins .

.. so , His Lordship makes another unilateral change ?
.. It appears that POTUS & Co have made another unilateral change to ObamaCrapCare . They did it once again without any consultation with or the agreement of Congress . As is supposed to be done under our Constitution …
.. Those who have lost their insurance policies under ObamaCrapCare have been made temporarily exempt from the individual mandate . I believe that it does not apply to those folks who have lost their policies this year … I think that the ObamaCraps have the folks who will lose their policies in the coming year in mind . It is not only that …
.. They have now been made (somehow) eligible for the catastrophic insurance policies . These policies were supposed to only be open to those under 30 years of age . Now , those catastrophic policies will be open to many , many more people . Not just several hundred thousand people , though . It will result in millions being made eligible for those policies …
.. Remember , it is not just this year (2013) that is in mind , but 2014 as well . I can imagine the insurance companies are just going to love this . Another unilateral change that screws with the metrics of their business ….
if it keeps up , then , sooner or later , it is going to cause one or more companies to withdraw further from the states , in order to preserve their remaining business , and concentrate on the state(s) where these folks are the strongest …

… Sebelius and her cronies keep on re – writing the rules . Especially the ones that are written in law , or that are established in administrative rules . She is misusing the sheer size and influence of her cabinet department to misconstrue and abuse the law . .. given his lordship ‘ s conduct , his misconduct on policy , and his misuse of the powers of the Office , something needs to be done to indicate our displeaseure with his misfeasance in office …
.. given the stage that it represents , and the timing (given the budget debate , and the debt limit misuse [$1 trillion since the last time , just since late October]) , it is likely that POTUS is going to misuse the stage for giving Congress (i.e. , the GOP) a tongue – lashing . So , why be there for it ?
.. One needs to negotiate with His Lordship , but considering his misconduct , and his abuses of Power , people need to understand that there is displeasure with his actions . A simple and dignified way to do so would be to boycott the State of the Union Address …
.. Do Not Watch It Live . I will not .
.. Ask Your Member of Congress or Senator not to Attend . Better Yet , Have them be in Statuary Hall , where the Press Corpse is usually hearded , in order to return fire . They will get an advance copy of the SOTUA . It always leaks . The ObamaCraps want to do a “prebuttal . ” So , beat them to the punch , and skip the damn thing …

.. Will nails it just about on the head . The geniuses that forced through this change may not realize that it sets a very politically ” gruesome ” precedent . ObamaCrapCare was originally passed under what is known as ” reconciliation . ” Reconciliation requires the adoption of a budget resolution by both Houses of Congress . This rules change , carried to its ultimate extent , will allow the repeal of ObamaCrapCare with a regular bill , without ” reconciliation .”

.. worse yet , you are a liar ..
.. if you know , or you knew , that we (our government) were going to hit our national credit card limit , then you should have kept a large cash reserve … a much larger cash reserve …
.. also , you shut down parts of the government , until you get a raise in the limit on the national credit card ….
.. you also should be impeached , if there is a default . The decision is yours , and that of POTUS . No one else ‘ s . While part of the government is shut down , you pay the other bills , including the interest and the principal on the national debt …
.. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew appeared on five major talk shows Sunday morning to try to press House Republicans on the next
fiscal debate — raising the debt ceiling before an Oct. 17 deadline when the nation is expected to exhaust its borrowing authority.
Jack Lew – Caricature (Photo credit: DonkeyHotey)
“It would be like somebody saying I ran up my credit card and I decided not to pay it. You can’t do that,” Lew said on FNC ‘ s Fox News Sunday . “The United States is just too important to the world. Our currency is the world’s reserve currency.”
If Congress fails to act before mid-October, the United States government would default for the first time in history.
After Oct. 17, the government would be left with about $30 billion — an amount Lew says “won’t last long.”
“I can’t tell you,” he said. “We’ve never gotten to this point. We’ve never gotten to the point where the United States government has operated without the ability to borrow. It’s very dangerous. It’s reckless, because the reality is, there are no good choices if we run out of borrowing capacity and we run out of cash.”
Lew reiterated that President Barack Obama does not have the authority to raise the debt ceiling — eve though some Democratic lawmakers have called for him to act unilaterally.
“There is a desire here for there to be some kind of a magic solution,” he said on CNN. “There is an easy solution. A majority in Congress would do the right thing if given a chance to vote to open the government. A majority in Congress would do the right thing if given a chance to let us pay our bills. Congress needs to work, they need to do their job, but the majority needs to be given a chance.”
Last week, Lew released a six-page report on the dangers of default, part of a campaign to pressure House Republicans to vote to raise the debt ceiling before the Oct. 17 deadline.
“The United States has never defaulted on its obligations, and the U S. dollar and Treasury securities are at the center of the international financial system,” according to the report. “A default would be unprecedented and has the potential to be catastrophic: credit markets could freeze, the value of the dollar could plummet, U.S. interest rates could skyrocket, the negative spillovers could reverberate around the world, and there might be a financial crisis and recession that could echo the events of 2008 or worse.”
The report says that even the possibility of a default could roil financial markets and damage the economy with sharp declines in household wealth, increases in the cost of financing for businesses and households and a fall in private-sector confidence. It says that if the government shutdown drags on, it could make the U.S. economy even more susceptible to the adverse effects from a debt ceiling impasse than it was prior to the shutdown.
In 2011, according to the senior Treasury officials, just the possibility of potential default led to substantial effects on the U.S. economy.
On FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Lew said the government shutdown, now in its sixth day, was causing “real damage to the American people.”
The partial shutdown of the federal government for the first time in nearly two decades has furloughed 800,000 employees, shuttered monuments and parks and cut off some services.
“They need to do their job,'” Lew said on FOX. “They need to open the government.”
Lew said Obama wants to negotiate with House Republicans, but reiterated what the president has said all week — that he will not do that until after they re-open the government at current spending levels. “The president wants to negotiate,” he said.

.. right now , we are running a deficit of about $750 billion , in a budget of about $3,6 trillion . What that means is that we are running a deficit that is about a little less than 20.0% of revenue .
.. Yea , that is waaaay too high of a deficit . Ideally , we should be running a surplus . A surplus would be very helpful in paying down , and then paying off our national debt . Unfortunately , right now , we are not doing so . In order to run a surplus , we must first bring the budget into balance . That means bringing a simple equation together …
spending + interest + debt principal = tax revenue + (zero * added debt)
.. yea , you got it , it is that simple .
.. But , is there enough money to pay the interest and principal on our nation ‘ s debt ? Hell , Yes . By plenty . There is too much money being spent on federal programs , relative to our tax revenue . I refer to it that way , instead of the other way , which is not having enough tax revenue , relative to our federal programs .
.. What about the Debt Limit ..
.. it means no more monkeyshines to evade it . We have a national credit card , and that point means we have hit the limit . Either we live within our means (along with a partial government shutdown) , or Congress (who has the legal power to do it) raises the limit on the national credit card ..
.. Will there be another shutdown ?
.. Yes , if this one is not resolved by then . Only a partial one , however . The government will have to live within its means until that limit is raised , if it is raised .
.. Does the Debt Limit have to be raised ?
.. Technically , no . The permanent debt limit is what it is (about $17.1 trillion , I believe) at set in the Public Law . Pratically , yes . We are still running a deficit , and POTUS has shown no interest in co – operating in balancing the budget , with at least a modicum of spending restraint ..
.. Would tax cuts help ?
.. Hell , yes . Our taxes are high enough , as it is . Especially the taxes related to investment income (capital gains taxes) and those related to repatriation of foreign profits (foreign subsidiaries of American firms) …
.. I understand the former , as an investor . What is the latter ?
.. The current environment is very punitive for foreign subsidiaries of American companies . They have no incentive to bring home , and invest the profits of their foreign company affiliates (subsidiaries) here in the United States .
.. Would a change in the tax rates help ?
.. god yes . The larger the tax cut , the better . The better the change in the tax environment , the louder the message is sent to investors …

.. this article , and this stunt by the Office of Personnel Management [O.P.M.] make my stomach turn and retch .
.. this is the relevant section from the article …
The Office of Personnel Management ruled Monday that members of Congress and their staffs will be able to buy health care plans that pay for abortions, even though the premiums are funded largely by taxpayer money — a move that conservatives say breaks federal law on abortion funding.
Under the terms of Obamacare, lawmakers and their aides are required to ditch their government-sponsored plans and buy insurance on state-based health care exchanges, though unlike most people on the exchanges, the staffers and members will have most of the costs of their premiums paid by their employer — in this case, taxpayers.
Federal law generally prevents taxpayer money from being used to pay for abortions, but OPM said the health care plans offered through the exchange were private. The agency also said it will make sure the money is segregated so that the portion that pays for abortions comes out of the employees’ own contributions, which amounts to about a quarter of the premiums.
“While plans with such coverage may be offered on an Exchange, OPM can and will take appropriate administrative steps to ensure that the cost of any such coverage purchased by a member of Congress or a congressional staffer from a designated [exchange] is accounted for and paid by the individual rather than from the government contribution, consistent with the general prohibition on federal funds being used for this purpose,” OPM said in its ruling.
LEC again here — what the OPM is saying is a crock . The health care plans are publically required , and are part of ObamaCrapCare [O.C.C.] legislation . The funding for congressional and staff salaries is PUBLIC , you dummies . What you are doing is against federal law (no taxpayer funding for abortions , period) …

.. but , not with Congress ?
[link] — this ad issued by the GOP points that out …
.. Sorry , POTUS , it is not how our system of government works . POTUS stands for President , not for First Dictator . The DemoCraps do not control Crapitol Hill . The GOP is the majority in the House . And the Dems are scared to death of taking tough votes in the Senate , and Dingy Harry Reid knows it .
.. It is a strong possibility that the DemoCraps will lose control of the Senate next fall . They do not want to expose their vulnerable members to tough votes , no matter what the subject . .. You would guess wrong .
.. POTUS pulled a real boner out of his hat , today . One would think that he would pull his partisan punches , especially with the Navy Yard shooting just a short distance away . Well , He did not …
[link] [h/t-Real Clear Politics]
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Although ultimately our success will depend on all the innovation and hard work of our private sector, all the grit and resilience of the American people, government is going to have a critical role in making sure we have an education system that prepares our children and our workers for a global economy. The budget Congress passes will determine whether we can hire more workers to upgrade our transportation and communications networks or fund the kinds of research and development that have always kept America on the cutting edge. So what happens here in Washington makes a difference. What happens up on Capitol Hill will help determine not only the pace of our growth, but also the quality of jobs, the quality of opportunity, for this generation and future generations.
The problem is, at the moment, Republicans in Congress don’t seem to be focused on how to grow the economy and build the middle class. I say ‘at the moment’ because I am still hoping that a light bulb goes off here. So far, their budget ideas revolve primarily around even deeper cuts to education. Even deeper cuts that would gut the scientific research and development. Even deeper cuts to America’s infrastructure investment. Our roads, bridges, schools, and energy grid. These are not the policies that would grow the economy faster. They are not the policies that would help grow the middle class. In fact, they do the opposite.

.. It seems that the dummies in the ObamaCrap White House continue to hem and haw over their prospects in the Syria operation . Well , guys and gals , you had better wise up .
.. Before having sought Congress ‘ blessing , as well as political cover , BHO & co certainly had the legal , as well as constitutional authority to make the Syria operation . BHO is commander-in-chief . He can make that order , if he so so chose . Presidents have quite a bit of authority over the war – making power in our country . They do not have all of it .
.. The political cover that Congress ‘ approval would give would also give the ObamaCraps the ability to cajole the
… POTUS … (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Congresscritters and Senators to cough up the $$ to pay the bills for the operation(s) . However , it remains for POTUS to actually make the case . He has not done so , as of yet .
.. Going to Congress changes things . It would create a constitutional crisis of the first order if BHO ordered our military into action , while Congress affirmatively votes down the operation in either or both Houses . It would completely strip Obama of moral authority to mount the operation . It would also cause the calls for his impeachment to continue to mount , and potentially even in his own party . Going to the ‘ Hill changes the game , folks .
.. Idiocy such as this [link] in the Hill does POTUS no good . It makes his ability to make his case all that much harder . Congress is a co – equal branch of our government . BHO seems not to act like that , that he is sovereign over them , and his word is law .
.. WRONG !!
.. He is not . He is the Chief Executive , and head of the Executive Branch . He is not the First Dictator . Anyone who would have such pretentions should quit , or be booted out of the door , in a flash . Congress and the Supreme Court are also parts of co – equal branches . People would really perceive the danger to their liberties if anyone were acting in such a way like this .
.. If even one congressional DemoCrap comes out , and starts making noises about the “I” word , then you-know-who is in deep and dire trouble . He would deserve it , too ….

.. U.S. Senator Rand Paul [R-Ky] sharply criticized Secretary of State John Kerry for his statement that President Obama had the constitutional authority to order military intervention in Syria, telling him that if the U.S. Congress voted down authorization but Obama acted anyway, he would be “making a joke of us” and this would be mere “constitutional theater.” [link]
PAUL: Make me proud today, Secretary Kerry. Stand up for us and say you’re going to obey the Constitution, and if we vote you down, which is unlikely by the way, but if we do, you would go with what the people say through their Congress and you wouldn’t go forward with a war that your Congress votes against. Can you give me a better answer, Secretary Kerry?
KERRY: I can’t give you a different answer than the one I gave you. I don’t know what the president’s decision is, but I will tell you this. It ought to make you proud because he still has the constitutional authority, and he would be in keeping with the Constitution.
PAUL: Well, I disagree with you there. I don’t believe he has the constitutional authority. I think Congress has this. Madison was very explicit. When he wrote the Federalist Papers, he wrote that history supposes, or the Constitution supposes what history demonstrates, that the Executive is the branch most likely to go to war and therefore the Constitution vested that power in the Congress. It’s explicit and runs throughout all of Madison’s writings. This power is a Congressional power and is not an Executive power. They didn’t say big war, small war. They didn’t say boots on the ground, not boots on the ground. They said declare war. Ask the people on the ships launching the missiles whether they’re involved with war or not. If we do not say the Constitution applies, if we do not say explicitly that we will abide by this vote, you’re making a joke of us. You’re making us into theater, and so we play constitutional theater for the president. If this is real, you will abide by the verdict of Congress. You’re probably going to win. Just got ahead and say it’s real and let’s have a real debate in this country and not a meaningless debate that in the end you lose and say, ‘Oh well, we had the authority anyway, we’re going to go ahead and go to war anyway.’

.. what are we doing ? and , why ?
.. Secretary of State John Boy Kerry was testifying today in front of the United States Senate Foreign Affairs Committee , attempting to make the case for intervention in Syria . Yes , intervention in Syria . At least John Boy was being a fair bit more honest .
.. Sure , he was hemming and hawing . He was still trying to play the old political game of “pin the Tail on the Donkey ” …on Congress . But , he was not doing all that well at it . Not that either the DummyCraps or the G.O.P. were shying away from the topic . Far from it . They want the ObamaCrap Administration to step up and make the case . .. not yesterday . not two days ago . Now !
.. If the potential of an attack on Syria is important enough that he would seek Congressional authorization , then he should act to recall Congress . He should recall them without delay …
POTUS should recall Congress
.. I do not think that he has the guts , but he should take the lead .
.. When you give the orders to engage the military , you cannot assume that things will be simple . They never are . You take an action to send in missiles , and then someone else will react . You cannot anticipate their reaction . Especially with the current crowd , you really cannot be sure how other countries will react .
.. POTUS also has to act to make the case . Congress will act to support him . They are not a bunch of wussies , unlike him . They will act to support him . It takes courage and leadership , neither of which this current administration has exhibited . It also takes trust . The ObamaCraps have a real problem with the trust thing . They may have the powers and the duties of the office , but they are not really all that trusted with them .
.. POTUS should remember that he is just the head of one of three co – equal branches of government . POTUS is not a dictator . Just because he says boo , things do not happen automatically like people are a bunch of automatons . He has to lead .
.. There will be a debate . Sooner would be preferable to later . Before the act would be definitely preferred to after the act . The debate will come , like it or not . Honesty is preferrable . Do not lie about things . Just do not let things all hang out , either .

.. How many People are bellyaching about OCC
.. We are assured that OCC was wanted by all , that it was the cure to all of the nation ‘ s health care ills , that hyper government regulation would help control health care costs .
.. Guess What ? Riiiiiiiiight .
.. So many people are bellyaching right now that the unpopularity of O.C.C. grows by the day . Unions of many stripes , in particular , in the private sector , do not care for the changes that it portends . Even Rich Trumka , the old socialist turned leader of the AFL – CIO , is none too wild of O.C.C. , but even for his own reasons .
.. Well , they wanted this guy as our President . One who was and still is wholly unqualified for the office and the responsibilities that come with it . They voted for a Congress that was , at the time , very strongly controlled by the Democrats . Even the Senate had a filibuster – proof margin . Yet , they still had all sorts of trouble passing the bill .

Congress should Return to D.C.
.. god knows that there is enough work to do . ObamaCrapCare being the chief problem , among them . The Budget is another . There are others .
.. There is also the potential of military action in the Middle East . Yes , yet again . The debate should not be limited just to Syria , however . Syria is but a puppet . The mullahs in Qum (Iran) are the puppetteers .
.. Assad and his cronies would not still be in power , except for the financial and military support of Iran . Syria is also a critical choke point in Iran ‘ s foreign policy , as well . Hizbullah would be lost , without Iran . They are a chief pain in the backside for Israel . Hamas is another . Same cause . Both rely on support from Qum , and would be lost without it . Ditto Sudan .
.. Sudan is in even a weaker a position . With the diplomatic weakness of the ObamaCraps , the goons in Khartoum can behave like bullies , especially towards South Sudan . In this case , Sudan also has the indirect support of China . However , a decisive move by the U.S. and the Europeans to stop it would effectively push the Chinese away . Sudan is too far from home , and too close to Europe . China is not stupid , and is also not yet strong enough as a naval power to project that kind of military power that far from home , almost in the backyard of one of its chief adversaries , India .
.. Iran would not be stupid enough to push for a direct challenge . But , they could do so around the edges . Obama is a wus . He does not understand the real meaning of the word power . If he did , Iran would not play around the way that they do .
.. Congress needs to defend its institutional prerogatives . POTUS is the Commander – in – Chief . Congress , though , declares wars , and pays the bills . The House of Representatives should not let itself be run over and played like a chump . It should act , and , if necessary , come back on its own . If it did , the Senate would be forced to follow suit .
.. Each chamber is in control of the opposite party . But the two chambers should act , for once , to defend the legislature ‘ s turf where it has it in evaluating and setting foreign policy . To not do so is misfeasance in office .

How has Obama been Exposed by His Lack of Seriousness in Syria (and the Middle East)
[-] Inability to make the Case — POTUS has not made the case to the public , or to its elected representatives (Congress) . If you are going to ask for public support , you need to persuade . Obama has not done that , at all . If he wants a positive vote in Congress , he is going to have to do the spade work . Not his flunkies . He has to do it , himself .
[-] Lack of Trust — Other presidents , in particular , Clinton were not liked . Yet , they could be trusted , at least to a point . Virtually every POTUS has been trusted . Obama is not . He is not trusted , and with good reason . He has not earned it , nor garnered it by making people come to fear him . People do not fear him . People may not have liked W. . But I will guarantee you , they respected him . Most of all , they feared him . He gave you his word , it was his bond . He stuck by it . Obama does not and has not . He is a wuss .
[-] Lack of Leadership — so what else is new . POTUS does not even know the meaning of the word .
[-] Failure to consult Congress. The Obama administration has built no consensus among Congress for any kind of strike. Generalissimo Pelosi wants a strike, but beyond her there is very little appetite for any U.S. action. Democrats are vocally skeptical. Republicans see a replay of Libya, just a couple of weeks before the first anniversary of the deadly attack in Benghazi. Believe it or not , even Dennis Kucinich is starting to make sense. There may be good reasons for striking Syria, but those reasons have not been articulated well or explained to Congress. So Congress in turn cannot explain the policy to their constituents.
[-] Failure to get buy-in from the American people. Obama’s failure to consult Congress until late in the game has probably left him too isolated to gain the approval and build up support. Now, a vote in Congress risks a replay of what happened in the UK Thursday — a down vote. That would be seen as a victory for Assad and Putin from Damascus to Tehran and well beyond, all the way to Caracas, Havana and Pyongyang.
[-] Lack of understanding of National Interests — Senator Obama never understood what our national interest was , and what it was not . POTUS still does not . Senator Obama warned against U.S. military action taken without United Nations approval. That’s a dubious standard — our military is our military, not France’s . POTUS has learned (or is learning, hopefully) on the job that Russia likes to use its Security Council veto power to thwart American aims. Russia’s foreign policy is fundamentally amoral, and fundamentally about advancing its own interests — if it can do so at America’s expense, all the better. Our policy should be about advancing our own interests . If we can screw the Russians or the Chinese or the Iranians , so much the better …
[-] No draft language for the UN to consider. The ObamaCraps have not evidently even drafted any meaningful language for the UN Security Council to consider. Really Dumb . One can use that to put a potential naysayer or adversary on the spot . Such as the Russians . Such language could have been used to put the Russians on the defensive to explain their veto, or at least isolate them, but without any draft language to consider, the UN is effectively useless . .
[-] No military plan, no clear objective. Remember the Powell Doctrine ? What’s the plan for striking Syria, and what’s the plan for the aftermath of a strike? If anyone in the Obama national security team has any idea, they’re not saying. They have leaked and talked about timing and specific targets, but not about much beyond “punishing” Assad. How do you punish a man who is facing sure and humiliating death if he loses the civil war to his enemies, without putting those radical enemies in power? It would take a very deft hand to pull that off. There is no evidence of said deft hand at work in Obama’s Syria policy. In fact, there is no evidence that anyone in Obama’s national security team is thinking deeply at all.
[-] Lack of credible spokes men and women to obtain buy-in from the American people and the press. The faces of Obama’s Syria war policy should not be his former campaign attack dogs. But the faces of the Syria policy so far have been Marie Harf and Jen Psaki at the State Department. Both of them hail from the Obama 2012 campaign. They both have one setting — defend their candidate and ruthlessly attack anyone who questions him. That’s fine for a campaign, but wholly inappropriate for a president leading his nation into what may blow up into a world war. They both come across as the hard-edged campaign operatives that they are, not the serious policy advocates that they need to be. Obama’s 2012 campaign operatives need to be sidelined in favor of career diplomats who have credibility among Democrats and Republicans on the Hill.
.. Now, we seem to be going it alone, and timing our attack to occur before Obama heads off to the G-20 summit in St. Petersburg, Russia next week. This isn’t military timing, it’s political timing. The headline talk of an attack is giving the Syrians time to plan their counters more effectively. They can move their targets, place human shields on them, equip Hizballah to threaten or attack Israel, and plan their propaganda following the strike.
… This is stupidity . Incredibly dangerous stupidity .

Obama is taking a Huge Gamble
He risks an embarassing loss in Congress
.. POTUS is taking a risk by asking Congress to approve airstrikes against Syria.
..The potential payoff is that he’ll win the kind of vote that signals broad popular support, giving him a stronger hand in facing
Bashar al-Assad – Caricature (Photo credit: DonkeyHotey)
Syrian President Bashar Assad and perhaps other dictators later in such regimes as Iran. But there are military and political risks in the process.
.. Militarily, a desperate Assad could use the time to his own desires . Obama could pay an added price while he waits s for a Congressional debate to conclude , one way or the other . It could done in his own nation , or in anouther , possibly turning his nation ‘ s civil war into a much wider regional conflict .
.. Politically, Obama could emerge as a weakened leader . He would then find it far tougher to get anything done at all . Even if he wants to push his proposals through Congress , including his top priorities of passing a budget and rewriting the nation’s immigration laws . You need political gravitas and political capital to do that . POTUS does not have much of either one .
.. But Obama does not rule out acting on his own if lawmakers fail to act. If that happened, he would only further antagonize a divided Congress that already rejects many of his proposals . He does have the legal authority . But not the moral gravitas or moral authority . It could also result in the possibility of his impeachment . Possible , but not likely .

.. It has come to my attention recently that the I.R.S. has been on the case of individual American Legion Posts , different regions of the Legion (Departments , or the State level) , and the national level of the legion itself .
.. You might wonder what they all have done to draw the ire of the Service . I wondered quite a bit , myself . I did some research on the subject , and , then , WOW . It seems that the I.R.S. is trying to harass and intimidate individual A.L. posts , by micromanaging their membership requirements . Their requirements are taut enough , believe you me . I am an Sons of the American Legion , or S.A.L. (an auxillary) member of a Detachment . That Detachment is attached to an individual Post , which is its sponsor .
.. An individual post cannot play around with the membership requirements . They are mandated by Congress (for the Legion) by service in a time of War . A veteran must certify that they have served , and present their honourable discharge (basically , a certified copy) to the post officers . The post officers make the relevant photocopies , and are required to make and keep meticulous records . Those requirements are also imposed via the National Post , and the Department – level (or State) . The process for the S.A.L. is similar . Records are meticulous , and are kept up the line for every single individual member . Yes , they have to be that stringent .
.. The individual Post , along with the groups up the line , are non – for – profit groups . As a result , they do not pay income taxes . They have to file income tax returns , nonetheless , and a financial disclosure form (Form 990) with the Service . One sees the requirements are tough enough .
.. Now , the Service wants to make it tougher . They have played around with the I.R.S. audit manual , specific to veterans and fraternal organizations . The problem is that they have done so in contravention to logic , good sense , and the law . The government itself maintains the dates of service records at the Department of Defense . The Department of Veterans Affairs receives the update when the individual veteran applies for veterans ‘ benefits , via the honourable discharge form (the D.D. -214). Court precedent protects individual non – profit groups membership lists from prying eyes . There has to be one hell of a good reason for a court to order a individual group to cough up its membership list . Otherwise , they cannot be touched . Most of all , by the government . Why the I.R.S. wants to breach this is nuts . They should damn well know better . The government itself maintains the record . Why would they need or want to harass an individual group over its not-for-profit status over something so petty as this ?
.. The I.R.S. is going to get sued over this . They deserve to be sued . They do have a job to do , to enforce the laws on our country ‘ s Internal Revenue Code . What they do no , should not , and cannot do is waste everyone ‘ s valuable time and money on something that has already been done somewhere else . They are also doing so clearly in contravention of the law . After the infamy of the I.R.S. scandals , they should know better . They are going to lose , and lose big time .

.. The Federal Reserve cannot totally ignore what is going on in the economy . Howevery , they have to safeguard the system , not micromanage it .
.. The Federal Reserve ‘ s tasks are multi – faceted . Yes , they have to think about what is going on in the economy . It is , however , not the primary or principal job . They need to safeguard the stability and sanity of the system , namely the finanicail system itself .
.. They deal primarily with monetary policy . They focus on the means of exchange (gold , sometimes , most often , the currency) , ie, the dollar , and how the system operater. They can fine – tune the system , or tinker with it . They do have some say – so in fiscal policy . However , fiscal policy is the principal province of POTUS and Congress . The Fed can sometimes anticipate what they may or may not do , but they should not have to take the lead . When they do , it means the principal actors have failed at their job .
.. What caused me to comment on this is this article for moneynews.com . One of their commentators , Joel Naroff , does not think that the economy is strong enough for the economy to take “tapering” of Quantitative Easing . To Be honest , whether it is or not is not their concern . Whether QE is complete is the prime concern .

.. In other words , Oops .
.. Congress must vote to increase its own pay . Even if it is done by a cost-of-living formula . The Congress must still vote to do it . Executive action does not count . The U.S. Constitution still applies , booys and girls .
.. due to a so – called “creative interpretation” of ObamaCrapCare , members of Congress and their staffs will be able to keep a financial subsidy that they had been receiving for years to help pay for their health insurance .
.. Members and their staffs receive their health insurance through what is called the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program . It is a competitive program , one that has been moderately successful at restraining health insurance costs and payments for these knuckleheads . However , in the ObamCrapCare bill , that was specifically disallowed . The congresscritters , senators , and their staffers had to get their health insurance through the “exchanges” that were created under O.C.C. . OC.C. also cut off the subsidy . Boy , were the staffers not thrilled with that .
.. The Members were afraid of a “brain drain” on the Hill . The law , as passed , would make people kick in an added $5k to $10k for their health insurance , per year . So , the ObamaCraps got “creative.” The ObamaCrap Admin “reinterpreted” the law , and PRESTO ! The folks got their subsidy back .
.. Slight Problem . The United States Constitution . The law is clear . No subsidy . Also , if the Members change it , it changes their salary . Ergo , the problem with the 27th Amendment . An election must intervene until the members can receive their subsidy , again . The staff cannot until the law is changed , and the ObamaCraps are scared shitless about re – opening you-know-what . Once the can is re-opened , katy – bar- the – door on what else gets changed .

.. Hey , you foolish jackhole for a Treasury Secretary . You have been Deputy White House Chief of Staff , and White House Chief of Staff . You should know better .
.. The budget is one thing . A Continuing Resolution (or C.R.) should be passed , in order to keep the government running .
GIMME SOME OF THAT GOOD ‘OLE OBAMA DOUBLESPEAK (Photo credit: SS&SS)
However , it should only be for a limited period of time , in order to give all sides breathing room , as well as motivation . The motivation should be to pass the regular appropriations bills . Ideally , they should be passed on time . If not , then in decent time and order , as soon as possible .
.. However , the debt limit bill is another matter . Raising the debt limit has not come without controversy . The nation ‘ s bill s have been and will be paid . As part of a C.R. , Congress should pass a bill mandating the order in which bills should be paid , in the case of a debt limit controversy . They should stick by it , and force POTUS ‘ hand . The scandal is that the debt limit needs to be raised , and the amount and need for deficit spending . Especially under the ObamaCraps .
.. The ObamaCraps have more than doubled our nation ‘ s debt , to almost $17 trillion . That in and of itself is outrageous . It must stop . Spending must be reduced , and put on a DOWNWARD trend . Ditto taxes . No , not upward , DOWNWARD , thank you very much .
Congress needs to raise the debt limit and take away the “cloud of uncertainty” about the nation’s ability to pay its bills, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said in an interview broadcast Sunday.
“The fight over the debt limit in 2011 hurt the economy, even though, in the end, we saw an extension of the debt limit. We saw confidence fall, and it hurt the economy. Congress needs to do its job. It needs to finish its work on appropriation bills. It needs to pass a debt limit,” Lew said on NBC’s Meet The Press.
Senior lawmakers on Capitol Hill are trying to come up with must-do legislation to keep federal agencies running after Sept. 30 and prevent the possibility of a government shutdown. At issue is what is normally routine: a plug-the-gap measure to fund the government for a few weeks or months until a deal can be worked out on appropriations bills giving agencies their operating budgets for the full 2014 fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1.
However, some Democratic liberals don’t want to vote to continue to fund the government at new, lower levels mandated by the automatic, across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration. And some conservatives are making a last stand against President Barack Obama’s new health care law. In addition, Senate Democrats are resistant to a $20 billion spending cut wanted by many Republicans.
Lew maintained that the president won’t negotiate over the debt limit but stopped short, however, of saying that Obama would shut down the government.
“Drawing this to brinksmanship is a mistake. It’s bad for the economy for it to be brinksmanship,” he said.
