… Hizbullah and Iran are Playing a Dangerous Game [#intelligence]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,November 16th,2016

.. recently , it was revealed that hizbullah was penetrated — and at a very high level . iran and Hizbullah really have to wonder , what is the continuing cost of this strategic blunder …

.. both of these parties got caught trying to sneak missiles and flunkies into the Golan . Israel had made it clear [through diplomatic channels] that to do so would meet with severe and immediate reprisal …

… The U.S. is in More Trouble than it Thinks [#Gaza Strip]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,November 13th,2016

.. it is even to the point that Egypt and Israel are working together , and with Hamas . Yes , it is that bad ..

.. basically , Hamas was far more weakened over the summer offensive with Israel than it is [was] letting on . It has lost hundreds , maybe a few thousand fighters to war death and destruction , along with assassination . It still has its rocket stocks , though . At least while it still has them …

.. [h/t — DebkaFiles.com]…
.. [link] to the intelligence report …

.. it seems that I.S.I.L. has been finding many of Hamas ‘ rocket stocks . They haven’t been letting them go to waste , though . A considerable number , no doubt , have been diverted to the war in Syria . Others have been relocated and put into storage . There are now others which have been fired at Israel , or have been positioned at Israel from I.S.I.L. territory in Syria . So they are not being wasted ..

.. what is scary for the U.S. is both the increasing threat TO Israel and the increasing spread of I.S.I.L. ‘ s influence .  It is a situation that calls  for the full attention of the United States and all of it allies , no matter where they are located . It is something that cannot be put off any longer …

… What Happens Next in Syria ?? [#I.S.I.L.]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,October 31st,2016

.. it is a good question ..

.. I.S.I.L. and the Syrian rebels are co – operating against the Syrian Government . The Syrian rebels are now [finally] getting substantial help from the U.S. , Saudi Arabia , and Turkey . So Bashar El – Assad ‘ s junta is beginning to totter , and is coming close to falling apart ..

.. the Syrian rebels just want to free Syria . They have since the beginning . However , I.S.I.L. ‘ s goals are far more sinister . They want to increase their nascent caliphate , and take over more land and fertile ground . They also want to go after more slaves under their control …

.. [h/t — DebkaFiles.com]..
.. [link] to the intelligence report ..

.. so , what is the U.S. doing ? Not much , other than aiding the Syrian rebels . The problem is who wins , and what happens when they win . I.S.I.L. is far more likely to control Syria than the rebels , and then that will allow them to turn on the rebles and crush them ..

Their idea , supply and support the Syrian resisteance . This has of course been denied by the ObamaCrap Administration . But , it has always been suspected …

.. Now we know , it is exactly what they did . It explains the existence of the CIA Annex in Benghazi . Benghazi was the arms – trafficking center of the supply effort to Syria . Putting it in Syria put it out of the prying eyes of the State Department . Then the State Department had the bright idea to put a consulate in Benghazi without adequate security , given the situation …

… Can Anyone Keep their Mouth Shut ? [National Security / Foreign Affairs] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,November 5th,2013

.. It is absolutely amazing when people , namely our allies , who work with us , and supposedly trust us , how they must be reacting and thinking when you have news that leaks out in the news media that should be better kept secret . Unfortunately , we have people in our government who have a big problem with keeping their big mouth shut .

.. Bob Gates , the former Defence Secretary , put it aptly a couple of years agao . It was , if I remember , when news of the Stuxnet virus had leaked out , but it had not been confirmed who did it , and why . Also , it was around the time that our Navy Seals got Osama Bin Laden , I think …
What he said , in response to a question about keeping national security secrets , especially when the ObamaCrap Administration kept leaking them , was a real dandy ….

… it was Shut the Fuck Up ! …

… a classic case of the damage that this lack of national security can do came up in a blog post by a favourite Reaganite columnist of mine , Dr. Elliot Abrams …

Is the United States Spilling Its Allies’ Secrets?

by Elliott Abrams November 1, 2013

The news of the last few weeks has been filled with complaints that the United States is electronically spying not only on enemies but on allies as well. As I wrote in a previous blog post, if we have in fact targeted the cell phones of leaders of friends and allies, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, we should stop. Yes, the world is a dangerous place and gentlemen do read each others’ mail, but deliberately targeting the leader of an ally such as Germany is wrong and stupid. And especially so given the risk, these days, that such conduct will leak and damage important allied relationships.Spying this way on allies is bad enough. Revealing their secrets to the press is even worse. Yet we have a pattern of doing this when it comes to Israel, and the most recent example came on October 31.

Earlier this past week a Syrian military base in Latakia was hit, and apparently an important quantity of missiles meant for delivery to Hezbollah were destroyed. There was speculation about the attack, including suggestions that Israel rather than Syrian rebels conducted it. But Israel remained mum, as it always does. It believes that its security is greatly enhanced by such silence, in part because bragging about these attacks might well humiliate Hezbollah or Assad and push them into some kind of retaliation. It is for this reason that Israel sought absolute American and Israeli official silence after its attack on the Syrian nuclear reactor in 2007. Indeed Israel still to this day, six years later, does not officially acknowledge that it conducted that attack. The United States remained silent about that attack until the danger of retaliation was thought to be gone.

But once again this week American officials told the press that Israel was responsible for an attack on Syria as soon as it occurred.

Here is the CNN story:

Israeli warplanes struck a military base near the Syrian port city of Latakia this week, an Obama administration official told CNN on Thursday. An explosion at a missile storage site in the area was reported in the Middle Eastern press, but an attack has not been confirmed by the Israeli government. The target, according to the Obama administration official, was missiles and related equipment the Israelis felt might be transferred to the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah. The official declined to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the information.

U.S. officials did this as recently as July, as a New York Times story reported:

Israel carried out an air attack in Syria this month that targeted advanced antiship cruise missiles sold to the Syria government by Russia, American officials said Saturday. The officials, who declined to be identified because they were discussing intelligence reports, said the attack occurred July 5 near Latakia, Syria’s principal port city.

And we did it in May:

A series of powerful explosions rocked the outskirts of Damascus early Sunday morning, which Syrian state television said was the result of Israeli missile attacks on a Syrian military installation. If true, it would be the second Israeli airstrike in Syria in two days and the third this year…An American official, who asked not to be identified because he was discussing intelligence reports, said the targeted shipment consisted of Iranian-made Fateh-110s

There is a pernicious pattern here, and other examples could be cited. Add this to the NSA revelations, and the United States seems to be aggressive in stealing the secrets of some close allies and aggressive in ignoring the interests of allies by conveying intelligence information to the press. The continuing leaks about what Israel has been doing are dangerous and damaging. Israel is acting where we are not, enforcing red lines when we have failed to do so, and assuming risks we have refused to take. We act as a poor ally if we repeatedly and indeed recklessly increase the risk to Israel by treating sensitive information as fodder for the press.

… LEC here again — we need to  do a much better job of protecting our nation  ‘ s secrets . Especially when they also involve those of also our allies . If we are going to have close allies , we are going to have to protect their secrets , as well , and not leak them to any press corps …

… Disgusting [the Sex Jihad phenomenon] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,September 27th,2013

.. I realized that this stuff could happen , but , like this ?!?! ..

.. News emerged a few weeks ago in Arabic media that yet another fatwa had called on practicing Muslim women to travel to Syria and offer their sexual services to the jihadis fighting to overthrow the secularist Assad government and install Islamic law. Reports attribute the fatwa to Saudi sheikh Muhammad al-’Arifi, who, along with other Muslim clerics earlier permitted jihadis to rape Syrian women.

.. Muslim women prostituting themselves in this case is being considered a legitimate jihad because such women are making

... sex jihadis ... [how sick] ...

… sex jihadis … [how sick] …

sacrifices—their chastity, their dignity—in order to help apparently sexually-frustrated jihadis better focus on the war to empower I

.. This goes to one of the many seeming contradictions in Islam: Muslim women must chastely be covered head-to-toe—yet, in the service of jihad, they are allowed to prostitute themselves. Lying is forbidden—but permissible to empower Islam. Intentionally killing women and children is forbidden—but permissible during the jihad. Suicide is forbidden—but permissible during the jihad—when it is called “martyrdom.”

.. One may therefore expect anything from would-be jihadis, regardless of how un-Islamic the means may otherwise seem.

.. Even so, this uncompromising mentality, which is prevalent throughout the Islamic world, especially along the frontlines of the jihad, is the same mentality that many Western leaders and politicians think can be appeased with just a bit more respect, well-wishing, and concessions from the West.

Such are the great, and disastrous, disconnects of our time.

.. there are two articles of note on this by Ray Ibrahim . One is [here] , and the other is [here] …

.. try three . this one is even worse , if possible . A ‘ sex jihadi ‘ is pregnant , … , and she has the AIDS virus (she and her fetus )  … that link is [here] …

… Hezbollah has a Death Wish [Syrian Chemical Arms] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,September 23rd,2013

.. you think that someone in Hezbollah ‘ s high command would be doing some serious thinking about this . If this blogger knows about this story , and the Washington Free Beacon , Al Wahat , and the Jerusalem Post know about the story …

Opposition: Some chemical arms smuggled onto Russian warships.

[the Jerusalem Post // Yaara Shalom]

Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces are smuggling chemical weapons to Hezbollah hidden in trucks carrying vegetables in order to escape international chemical inspection, Syrian opposition member Dr. Kamal Labwani told Saudi newspaper Al Watan on Monday.

The chemical arms are set to be stored in Hezbollah-controlled mountain areas of Lebanon, where it will be difficult to find and monitor them.

Syria has also been able to smuggle the bulk of its chemical arsenal to Russian warships stationed off the coast of Syria, Labwani said.

On Sunday, Lebanese daily Al-Mustaqbal reported Syria has moved 20 trucks worth of equipment and material used for the manufacturing of chemical weapons into Iraq, but Baghdad has denied allegations that it is helping the Syrian government conceal chemical stockpiles.

The report came just a day after the United States and Russia struck a deal stipulating that the Assad regime would destroy its chemical arsenal to avert an American military assault.

Al-Mustaqbal, a publication that has long been affiliated with anti-Syrian political elements in Lebanon, reported that the trucks crossed the boundary separating Syria with Iraq over the course of Thursday and Friday. Border guards did not inspect the contents of the trucks, which raises suspicions that they contained illicit cargo, according to the paper.

Intelligence and Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz said on Sunday that Israel is able to track attempts made by the Assad regime to transfer its chemical weapons to others.

“Israel has good capabilities, and has drawn a red line over the transfer of chemical weapons to terrorist organizations, including Hezbollah,” Steinitz told Army Radio.

[-] that the Syrians would be playing “footsie” with the Russians is no big surprise . The Russians are the longtime arms supplier to Syria . Big Shock . [-] Considering the weakness in US humint (human intelligence) , I wonder highly (unless the Israelis have told them) that the C.I.A. knows that the Russians have been storing the chem weapons on ships .
[-] If they are doing so to deactivate them , and take them away , that is a bird of a different feather . Let them . Trust Me ,
[-]the Mossad will know if the Syrian Government (Assad and his cronies) or anyone else has ahold of those weapons . They will keep quiet about what they know until there is a need for folks to know , them …. BOOM !!!!
[-] since the Mossad knows , Hezbollah has to realize that Israel will not tolerate them having these arms . Israel will target them , know exactly where , or approximately where they are , target them , and destroy them …
[-] .. Israel will have to make a determination , that they will go after these weapons — They have to , because they cannot tolerate the threat to their population from terrorists having even a small amount of these weapons . Syria ‘ s stocks are so large (@ around 1,000 tons , or 2 million pounds) that a small share of this is a significant amount , and any part of it ending up with Hezbollah is intolerable .

[-] .. Israel also must understand that if they do , it is possible that Hezbollah (and Iran) may use this as an excuse to “kick off” against them . They may not  want it , but Iran knows that either an American strategic strike or an Israeli one is coming . They may decide to take the initiative away from Israel and America , and act first , and blame Israel .

[-] God help them both  , if they do . Israel would then have no compunction against using  any and every weapon in its strategic arsenal in retaliation against either Hezbollah and /  or Iran . Significant parts of Lebanon will be reduced to a smoking ruin , while so will Syria (who just might be stupid enough to try to take advantage) . I  doubt Syria would be that dumb , because they would know that a retaliatory strike against Syria by Israel would be “playing for keeps.”  Assad and the Alawites would be “dead men walking.

[-]… the same for Nasrallah and his leadership . I strongly suspect that Israel knows exactly where to get at them ,  when they really need to do so . When the go order is  given , they are dead , as are their “toys.”

[-] … a strategic strike against Iran , especially if it is done in retaliation for an attack on Israel , would likely start as a conventional attack , at least at first . It would likely not stay that way . Israel ‘  s strategic doctrine is similar to that of the United States , but with a quicker hair trigger . [N=B=C] , or [Nuclear=Biological=Chemical] . If Iran or its stoolies uses chem weapons first , then there is no one on the planet , including POTUS or anyone else who will stop the Prime Minister of Israel from a strategic response , except for his or her own conscience , and that of the Israeli people …

… Uh , JohnBoy , It is not the U.N. who has to act …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,September 21st,2013

.. it is the United States , and your boss , POTUS , who has to make the decision to act …

[link] – video

[link] — text

.. The DemoCraps are praying that this stuff does not drag out . Well , it is exactly what is going to happen , if Mad Vlad [Putin] and Bashaar the Butcher [Assad] have anything to say and do about it . They will drag it out , and drag it out and drag it out …. . Eventually , POTUS is going to have to make a series of decisions . Are the Russians and Syrians playing games ? Are the Russians playing their usual blocking games at the U.N. ? Can you really trust that the Syrians have disclosed all of their chemical weapons in their diplomatic disclosures ? there are others ….

.. POTUS does not like being forced into these type of decisions . He does not want to act in the Middle East . He does not want to be forced to act in the Middle East . He also realizes that , if he does not act , the Israelis will (against Iran) , and a regional war [one involving us] will result . Eventually , I hope he will come to realize that the monkeyshines in Syria are only a prelude to what may well happen with Iran .

.. Also , given their superb intelligence operations and services , Israel will have a far better idea of what Iran is doing , and what point in their nuclear development they are at , than anyone else will know . They also do not trust Obama . Not one bit . Not Labour , not Kadima , and , most certainly , not the Netanyahu government . Bibi ‘ s majority may be weaker , but when it is a go or no – go call , it will be his call , and his alone . His ministers may not be thrilled will the idea (in some cases) , but they will support him . They also all realize the stakes that are involved .

… POTUS , Now You Know You have a Problem …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,September 18th,2013

.. when two former secretaries of Defence haul off and blast you for your “red line ” actions and your strategy in Syria .

.. Gates ‘ commentary I can understand . Robert Gates was a holdover from George W. Bush ‘ s administration , and I strongly suspect , is a closet conservative Republican . One of his best quotes was when dealing with the fallout from the takedown of Osama bin Laden . He was asked by then National Security Adviser Thomas Donilon on what to do about all of the problems with the leaks about national security – related information .

.. Gates ‘ simple solution — “Shut the [f-bomb] up.” Simple and to the point .

.. Now , Leon Panetta , that is something . Panetta is no Republican . He was a long – time Congresscritter , and a Chairman of the House Budget Committee . He was also a former White House Chief of Staff [under Wilhelm der Fibmeister] , and was also C.I.A. director under Obama . So , he is no conservative at all . Yet he blasted POTUS as well . Nice .

.. That will certainly get people ‘ s attention . It certainly got mine ….

… POTUS , It is You Who are Wrong …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,September 18th,2013

.. I am still amazed at POTUS and his hubris and his degree of arrogance . He is the supreme narcissist . He thinks that he is the smartest person “on the block,” and that he is right , and that we , the American People are wrong on ObamaCrapCare …

.. We are right on ObamaCrapCare . We were sold a fraudulent bill of goods , when the DemoCraps said that we would actually

English: Barack Obama delivers a speech at the...

English: Barack Obama delivers a speech at the University of Southern California (Video of the speech) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

like this “piece of crap.” When you add mandates , it is simple , from the law of supply and demand . You add many more consumers , and desensitize people from the cost of what they are paying for . What could POTUS and the DemoCraps have been thinking ??

.. Now , the ObamaCrap supporters realize that they have been had . The employers are getting hammered , so they are cutting working hours . We are becoming more and more of a part – time economy , and many union workers and members are getting hit as a result . The union workers are screaming bloody murder , not realizing the bill that they championed had consequences . Those consequences have come back to bite them in the butt , and very , very badly .

.. The doctors and the hospitals realize that they were had . They were fairly big supporters of ObamaCrapCare , from the start . POTUS and the DemoCraps needed their support to even have a chance of passing their bill . The docs and the hospitals were promised a payment “fix” to help them out of their revenue predicament . And guess what ? They were lied to . There was no “doctor fix” in ObamaCrapCare at all . The doctors and the hospitals are in the same reimbursement fix that they have always been in , except now things are worse , and political control has diffused . After what they did passing O.C.C. , the G.O.P. is in no mood to help the doctors and the hospitals , unless they are able to get something politically in exchange . And , it will cost them big .

.. Tort reform is coming . Whether POTUS and his trial – lawyer bar buddies like it or not . Too many businesses and industries have been hurt by the blackmail and extortion tactics of the plaintiff ‘ s bar . The doctors , in particular , have learned a savage lesson from getting into bed with the trial lawyers on O.C.C. . Not again . This time , they will help the good guys and good gals in fighting back . The plaintiffs bar extortionists will eventually be brought to heel . The medical malpractice bar has also , in particular , cost our economy far too much money , and has hurt far too many people . They also need to be brought back into line .

.. POTUS , it is YOU who are wrong ..

… Once Again , Spot On [Charles Krauthammer , on POTUS] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,September 17th,2013

.. POTUS should get some kind of award for the bad taste stunt of the year . With all of the stuff going on in D.C. , POTUS picks one hell of a bad time to deliver a hyper – partisan speech . Right in the middle of an on-going crisis , no less .

.. Dr. Charles Krauthammer has , in his usual masterful and succinct style , nailed him for it …

[link] [h/t–RealClearPolitics]

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: The president in that speech was back to hyper-partisan mode, slashing attack on Republicans. At one point he is speaking of the Republicans, he said, ‘and some of them are decent.’ Quite a remarkable thing for a president to say if you expect any cooperation. And to do this within minutes of 13 Naval employees, brave Americans lying dead, I thought was in extremely bad taste. He could have waited until tomorrow. It isn’t as if this is a holy anniversary, he could have spoken later in the week which is the week that marks the fifth year of the crisis.

And on Syria, he said, having dealt with the Syrian issue, which is another farce. He has opened up a can of worms. There is no way we’re going to disarm Syria. This is a fig leaf, it’s nothing more.

… Sick [POTUS hyper – partisan cheap shot] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,September 16th,2013

.. you think that Barack Obama would land some sense of decency , dignity , or reason for dealing with a crisis situation . He has had 5 years (almost) in office to figure it out . Well , guess what ??

.. You would guess wrong .

.. POTUS pulled a real boner out of his hat , today . One would think that he would pull his partisan punches , especially with the Navy Yard shooting just a short distance away . Well , He did not …

[link] [h/t-Real Clear Politics]

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Although ultimately our success will depend on all the innovation and hard work of our private sector, all the grit and resilience of the American people, government is going to have a critical role in making sure we have an education system that prepares our children and our workers for a global economy. The budget Congress passes will determine whether we can hire more workers to upgrade our transportation and communications networks or fund the kinds of research and development that have always kept America on the cutting edge. So what happens here in Washington makes a difference. What happens up on Capitol Hill will help determine not only the pace of our growth, but also the quality of jobs, the quality of opportunity, for this generation and future generations.

The problem is, at the moment, Republicans in Congress don’t seem to be focused on how to grow the economy and build the middle class. I say ‘at the moment’ because I am still hoping that a light bulb goes off here. So far, their budget ideas revolve primarily around even deeper cuts to education. Even deeper cuts that would gut the scientific research and development. Even deeper cuts to America’s infrastructure investment. Our roads, bridges, schools, and energy grid. These are not the policies that would grow the economy faster. They are not the policies that would help grow the middle class. In fact, they do the opposite.

.. The threat of force must remain on the table . Even as much as a wuss as he is , I do not think that POTUS would be as stupid as he might be to concede the use of our country ‘ s armed forces to the Russians , or to their judgement . Somehow , I do not think that he would be that dumb ….

.. Also , I do not think , as much as they might like to , that Mutt and Jeff [POTUS , SecState JohnBoy] would give the Russians an indirect veto , via the U.N. , and the U.N. Security Council . The levers of the so – called ” International Law ” do not restrict the ability of the United States , or of any nation , to respond to such an action as has occured in Syria . If our nation ‘ s leadership decides that it should respond , even without Congressional consent , then they can . Morally , whether they should do so it would be another question …

Putin’s Foreign Minister claims Russia can veto future U.S. strike in Syria

By JOEL GEHRKE | SEPTEMBER 14, 2013 AT 5:45 PM

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters that — under the agreement negotiated with Secretary of State John Kerry

— Russia would have veto power over the use of military force to punish Syrian dictator Bashar Assad if he uses or retains some of his chemical weapons stockpiles.

“And of course, in these approaches agreed on, there is nothing said about the use of force, not about any automatic sanctions we – as I said, all violations should be approved in the Security Council convincingly,” Lavrov said in his opening statement during a press conference Saturday with Kerry.

“Of course, it does not mean that every violation that will be reported to the Security Council will be taken by word,” Lavrov said when a reporter asked for clarification on the threat of force.

“Of course, we will investigate every case, because there are a lot of false information, pieces of information in the world, and we should be very cautious about every fact. And when we are sure, 100 percent, then we in the Russian Federation will be ready to adopt new resolution of the Security Council to embed the measures to punish the perpetrators of this violation, and it’s nonsense to continue the speculations on the matter today.”

If Lavrov’s comments during the briefing are any indication, the Russians will be skeptical of any evidence presented by foreign leaders.

“I told you very sincerely that we are very worried with the attempts to frustrate any efforts aimed at calming down the situation at – avoiding certain and removing certain aspects of the Syrian conflict, including the efforts that were taken together with John today,” Lavrov said, before accusing UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon of offering false evidence.

“And then it occurred that there was some film production and there was false information and they were not related together, all this information,” he said. “And if it’s – it was not just a full mistake, because the meeting was closed, and if it’s not – if it was not just a joke, but it was just an attempt to frustrate our meeting here in Geneva together with John Kerry, and they did not manage, thank God.”

Kerry downplayed the significance of the arrangement. “[T]here is an agreement between Russia and the United States that noncompliance is going to be held accountable within the Security Council under Chapter 7,” he acknowledged.

“What remedy is chosen is subject to the debate within the council, which is always true, but there’s a commitment to impose measures,” Kerry continued. “And as Sergey knows, under any circumstances, there would be a debate in the Security Council, even now. So there’s no diminishment, there’s no diminution of option.

“And it’s impossible, obviously, under these circumstances, to have a pre-agreement as to what that specific sanction might or might not be for circumstances that we don’t even know yet. Our hope is that we have a tight enough regimen that is agreed upon, as we have said, in the extraordinary measures that we have laid out.”

… As Usual , POTUS is the Toothless Tiger [Mutt and Jeff] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,September 15th,2013

.. when you are trying to dig yourself out of a diplomatic mess , you generally want to try to make sure that your agreement is believable and credible . Evidently , Mutt and Jeff (POTUS and SecState) have come up with a whopper of a stinker . They think that this so – called agreement covering Syria and its chemical weapons , involving the Assad government and Russia , is anything remotely believable and credible ?

.. Hell , no . It is for several reasons :

[-] lack of consistent policy — our National Command Authority is supposed to set a reasonable idea of policy in an area . It may not be ideal , but it helps to be consistent . POTUS ‘ entire idea of foreign policy is grossly inconsistent , at best …

[-] lack of consistent message — even when there is some idea of a policy , the message behind that policy is , at best , a disorganized muddled mess . That is no way to communicate to either friends or foes . Both need to understand what is going on …

[-] lack of leadership — No , you do not lead from behind . You lead from the Front , you damn idiots . You have to set policy , communicate it , and take responsibility for it …

[-] lack of resolution — even when things get ” dark and grey , ” you stick to your guns . Do not be a ” Wuss …. ”

Bolton: Syrian Pact ‘Will Die a Death by a Thousand Cuts’

Saturday, 14 Sep 2013 07:47 PM

Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton predicted on Saturday that the agreement reached between the United States and Russia on destroying Syria’s chemical weapons “will die a death by a thousand cuts.”

Syrian President Bashar Assad “is required to make his initial declaration on Friday,” Bolton, a senior fellow with the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, told Fox News. “It’ll slip a few days, or maybe a few more. Maybe the first declaration won’t be full and complete, and it’ll have to be amended. And, then, it’ll have to be amended again.

“You can see the impact of this as time goes on, and I think that’s exactly what the strategy is.”

Urgent: Who is Right on Syria – Obama or Putin? Vote in Urgent Poll

Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the agreement earlier Saturday after three days of talks in Geneva.

The agreement requires Syria to submit a “comprehensive listing” of its chemical weapons stockpiles within a week. Arms inspectors must be on the ground in Syria by November, with the goal of eliminating the country’s chemical weapons by the middle of next year.

But the accord contains nothing about the potential use of force if Syria fails to comply — and Kerry said that no pre-agreement existed on what action the U.N. Security Council might take if Syria failed to comply with the plan.

“One of the fine ironies here is that we have agreed with Russia, which has been in violation itself of the Chemical Weapons Convention since the treaty came into force [in 1993],” Bolton told Fox. “Most experts agree that Russia did not make its own full and complete declaration of its chemical weapons stockpiles in the mid-1990s, and many believe that Russia has been in violation of the treaty, developing new generations of chemical weapons.

“So the notion that Russia is going to vouch for Bashar al-Assad is almost comical,” he concluded. “You can’t make this stuff up.”

Further, he attacked some of the language in the agreement.

“It says that the Security Council will take measures ‘commensurate’ with the violations,” Bolton noted. “Well, that word means anything you want it to mean — and you can bet that in a debate in the Security Council, it will go on for quite some time.”

But, more importantly, President Barack Obama has been greatly helped by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The president is very grateful to President Putin. He got him out of an impossible dilemma,” Bolton said. “I don’t think the president himself wants to use force. Now, he will never have to — and he himself said, the longer time goes by from the August 21 use of chemical weapons, the harder it would be to generate the emotion necessary to get the support for the use of force.”

The White House has said that more than 1,400 people, including over 400 children, were killed in the chemical weapons attacks on rebel-held suburbs of Damascus on Aug. 21. The Obama administration has since shown gruesome pictures to Congress of Syrians suffering and dying from the attacks in making its case for military strikes.

Urgent: Who is Right on Syria – Obama or Putin? Vote in Urgent Poll

“The idea that you couldn’t get the support in Congress to use force against Assad after those pictures means that, nonetheless, you’ll be able to get congressional approval because Syria violated this agreement?” Bolton asked. “It’s a delusion — and so is [Obama’s] Syria policy generally.”

… People should trust Putin ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,September 10th,2013

.. from the Times of Israel …

Russia is stepping up weapons supplies to Syria’s President Bashar Assad, to help him prevail in the civil war, as part of the arrangements under which the Assad regime has agreed in principle to have its chemical weapons stockpiles placed under international supervision, Israel television reported on Tuesday night.

Negotiations between Russia and Syria on the supervision arrangement, which seem to have drastically reduced the likelihood of

... fishy !! ...

… fishy !! …

US-led military intervention in Syria, have been ongoing for two full weeks, and have also involved Iran, the Israeli Channel 2 report said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, determined to ensure that his ally Assad not face a punitive US-led strike following Damascus’s alleged use of chemical weapons in an August 21 attack that the US says killed over 1,400 Syrians, essentially ordered Assad to submit to international oversight of his chemical weapons stocks, the report said.

In return, Putin promised bolstered conventional weapons shipments, “some of which are already on their way” to Syria from the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. The TV report did not specify which weaponry Putin is supplying to Assad, but noted that the Syrian regime needs more fighter planes for use to quash rebel forces, spare parts for tanks, and all kinds of other military equipment to replenish stocks depleted during the two-and-a-half years of fighting that have left well over 100,000 Syrians dead. An estimated 1,600 Syrians have died in the three weeks since the alleged August 21 attack.

Last summer, Russia said it would not deliver weapons including 24 MiG-29 fighter jets ordered by the Syrian Air Force until the Syrian crisis ended. But in May, Russian officials said a Syrian delegation was in Moscow to discuss a new contract to supply combat aircraft.

Putin said late Tuesday that he hoped “our Syrian friends will make the appropriate decision with respect to transferring the chemical weapons to the control of the international community, and to joining the treaty preventing the proliferation of chemical weapons.”

Syria’s Foreign Minister Walid Moallem, who has been in Moscow this week, was quoted Tuesday saying Syria would indeed open all relevant sites to UN inspectors, would not produce chemical weapons, and would sign all relevant treaties.

“We fully support Russia’s initiative concerning chemical weapons in Syria, and we are ready to cooperate. As a part of the plan, we intend to join the Chemical Weapons Convention,” he said in an interview with the Lebanon-based Al-Maydeen TV.

“We are ready to fulfill our obligations in compliance with this treaty, including through the provision of information about our chemical weapons. We will open our storage sites, and cease production. We are ready to open these facilities to Russia, other countries and the United Nations.”

“We intend to give up chemical weapons altogether,” he added.

US President Barack Obama said in a series of TV interviews Monday that a deal that ensured Syria was unable to again use chemical weapons would “absolutely” roll the crisis back from the brink. His Secretary of State John Kerry warned Tuesday, however, that such a deal had to be “measureable, tangible” and speedy. “If we choose not to act, we’ll be sending a message to Iran of American ambivalence, American weakness,” the secretary noted.

Israel’s former foreign minister, Avigdor Liberman, indicated Tuesday a similar concern. Speaking against the background of the negotiations that were apparently pushing off any US-led strike on Assad’s regime, Liberman, the chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, noted that, where Iran’s nuclear program was concerned, Israel “will have to deal with it on our own.”

again , Barack ! You are playing tiddly winks , and Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] is playing diplomatic chess . Guess who is winning ?

.. Putin , who else ? Vlad is no dummy . JohnBoy made a boyBlunder , and he got inside BHO ‘ s head . Putin pulled off a deft political move , making Russia more relevant on the world stage , and also making Obama look like a rank amateur , by comparison . The Aussies were right about Kevin Rudd , and I am right about BHO .

.. POTUS is an even more grandiose narcissist than Kevin Rudd ever was . What is more dangerous is that POTUS is POTUS , and does not have a clue about what he is doing on the world stage . People keep making him look like a chump , and our fellow Americans are getting tired of his act . Unfortunately , we are stuck with Obama for the next 43 months . Hopefully , he will not blunder too badly …

.. God in Heaven help us if he does . Many people will , I am afraid , get killed as a result of Obama ‘ s incompetence , both here at home , and overseas . Other nations will take note , and act accordingly …

… POTUS a “Grandiose Narcissist ?” …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,September 10th,2013

.. I wonder . POTUS seems to have a great deal of faith in his own abililties and his own intellectual superiority . It makes him to be one very arrogant bastard , that is for sure .

.. I would wonder if there is any kind of psychological (albeit political) evaluation . No , not an explicitly political one . A specifically

... well , it worked ! ...

… well , it worked ! …

medical , i.e. a psychological one , or one of a psychiatric nature . It would make for very interesting reading , that is for sure . Considering what is going on over Syria right now , it would sure make for very interesting reading …

.. In this case , this one involves an Obama – style clone , soon – to – be former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd of Australia . You will find this short piece , from the Sydney Morning Herald , and the link to the longer one to the parent piece at the Australian Financial Review to be very interesting reading . It does take some understanding of Australian politics , but not much . I am not trying to be arrogant , at least I hope not .

.. Australia ‘ s legislature looks like it is similar in form to our Congress here in the U.S. . Not quite . The form , yes . The function , though , is a great deal more like a Westminster style Parliament . The lower House majority elects the Prime Minister , and , except in rare instances , the elections are held on a regular basis every three years .

.. Rudd politically knifed his predecessor , former PM Julia Gillard , just a few weeks ago . He was convinced that he was the candidate to take Australia ‘ s Labour party into the most recent general election . Well , she went , and he took over , and you might wonder what happened ? Guess ?

.. Tony Abbott and the Liberal Party / National Party coalition (the Tories) blew out Labour , and did it in style . The coalition won about 90 to 92 seats in Australia ‘ s lower House of Parliament , against 58 for Labour and their alies . Bombs Away ! Guess kevin got his just reward , and now it is off to the political wilderness for both Rudd and Gillard …

… JohnBoy Kerry does it Again [diplomatic blunder] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,September 9th,2013

.. nice going , JohnBoy ! You did it again with your proposal to supposed “surrender” Syria ‘ s chemical arms to either Russia or another body (or nation) .

.. A couple of questions …

[-] How can we be sure that Syria has accounted for everything in chemical arms that it has ?

[-] How do we know that these chemical arms are Syrian in origin ? or , are they someone else ‘ s (like Iraqi) ?

[-] Remember Sadly Insane ‘ s game playing on moving the pieces around his country . Anyone think that other countries , including Syria , were not taking notes on how to screw around arms inspectors ?

[-] the Syrians are going to want to give over their weapons to a party of their choosing . They do not want anyone playing peek-a-boo in the warheads , and testing the chemicals for point-of-origin ?
