… At Least They Are Taking a Stand [#Islam]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,August 19th,2016

.. it is taking a stand on religion in general that gets a little touchy . Where it comes to Islam , though , is something that I do not find controversial ..

.. I am a Roman Catholic . JFK was our country ‘ s first Catholic President . It was extremely difficult for him to navigate the political seas during the 1960 campaign . There were constant attacks on him , due to his Catholic faith …

.. so applying a religious test of any kind to any candidate is a really sensitive issue . But where Islam is concerned , things are markedly different …

… Yeah ! , Well Done ,Mississippi !! [#RFRA]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,April 20th,2016

.. recently , Ms Gov. Phil Bryant signed an update to his state ‘s Religious Freedom Restoration Act . To many , he did the right thing . To the radical left , the move signified a declaration of political war ..

.. for me , Bryant and Mississippi did the right thing . Our nation and our states stand for religious freedom . One of the things that they must stand for is that they must not for people into being a part of something that they do not believe in . These people do not believe in the morality and or legality of gay weddings . So this updated rfra HElps to protect THOSE folks that have a bona- fide belief in their religious beliefs that they are Not forced into something …

… Is This School District Nuts [#religious freedom]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,March 21st,2016

.. this school district [Pine Creek High School] in Colorado has a period during the middle of the school day that allows , in essence , for the equivalent of ” recess . ”

.. So , these students organized a prayer group to pray during this time . They prayed , sang religious songs , and discussed issues from a Christian perspective . So , one would figure , who would have a problem with that ?? …

.. [h/t — theRightScoop.com]..
.. [link] to the blog post …

.. other than radicals like the Freedom from Religion Foundation , the School District [the one that runs Pine Creek High] itself did . They complained that there is a so – called constitutional ” separation of church and state , ” and that they could not allow any religious – themed activities during the school day …

.. Right ?? Wrong !! . That time is recess time . The students are free to do whatever they want with their time during this period of the school day . They can do so as long as it does not disrupt the operations or other activities of the school …

.. so , what else happened ? The student group sued . They engaged the Alliance Defending Freedom foundation to handle the legal action . No resolution as of yet …

.. I wish these young people good luck . They deserve to win their case , and to receive damages and an injuction against the school district . That way , any other district so situated will not be tempted to repeat something like this using the ” separation of church and state ” excuse …

… Definitely , Say the Pledge [#of Allegiance]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,March 21st,2016

.. these anti – religious fanatics are trying to dis – establish the Pledge of Allegiance . Especially as we now know it . Their direct target is the words ” under God ” which were put into the Pledge in 1954 …

.. [h/t — TruthRevolt.org]..
.. [link] to the blog news …

.. I would say , continue to say the Pledge of Allegiance . Loudly . Firmly . Resolutely . When it comes to the words ” under God , ” say it as loudly as you care to , so everyone you know [and those who cannot] can hear you …

.. You bet I want to do it in opposition to those bastards and bitches . These people want to dis-establish each and every religious reference that they can get their hands on , no matter where it is . It does not matter in what public or private issue it resides , they want to evict religious from the public as well as the private square , as well …

.. A more obvious reason may be the way the AHA question was constructed. It seems to push the respondent to the desired AHA answer:

For its first 62 years, the Pledge of Allegiance did not include the phrase “under God”. During the Cold War, in 1954, the phrase “one nation, indivisible…” was changed to read “one nation, under  God, indivisible….”. Some people feel this phrase in our national pledge should focus on unity rather than religion. Do you believe the Pledge of Allegiance should:

1. Return to the unchanged version: “one nation, indivisible”…
2. Continue with the changed version: “one nation, under God, indivisible”…

.. If the AHA wins this campaign, is removing “endowed by our creator” from the Declaration of Independence next?

.. to hell with them …. [literally]….

… Thank You , Benjamin Watson ! [#Darren Wilson case]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,December 1st,2015

.. Ben Watson is a fine NFL player , and evidently is a fine and decent family man …

.. also , I am a fan of his . He used to play for the New England Patriots [no , not a fan of] , and then for my favorite NFL team , the Cleveland Browns . Watson has since moved on , going to the new Orleans Saints …

.. Watson must have been playing in the Monday Night Football game last Monday [11/24/2014] , when the grand jury decision broke . He wrote down some very priescient thoughts , ones that I want to quote verbatim , because they are that on target …

.. [h/t — theRightScoop.com]..
.. [link] to the blog post // quote …

.. Watson ‘ s quote : ….

At some point while I was playing or preparing to play Monday Night Football, the news broke about the Ferguson Decision. After trying to figure out how I felt, I decided to write it down. Here are my thoughts:

I’M ANGRY because the stories of injustice that have been passed down for generations seem to be continuing before our very eyes.

I’M FRUSTRATED, because pop culture, music and movies glorify these types of police citizen altercations and promote an invincible attitude that continues to get young men killed in real life, away from safety movie sets and music studios.

I’M FEARFUL because in the back of my mind I know that although I’m a law abiding citizen I could still be looked upon as a “threat” to those who don’t know me. So I will continue to have to go the extra mile to earn the benefit of the doubt.

I’M EMBARRASSED because the looting, violent protests, and law breaking only confirm, and in the minds of many, validate, the stereotypes and thus the inferior treatment.

I’M SAD, because another young life was lost from his family, the racial divide has widened, a community is in shambles, accusations, insensitivity hurt and hatred are boiling over, and we may never know the truth about what happened that day.

I’M SYMPATHETIC, because I wasn’t there so I don’t know exactly what happened. Maybe Darren Wilson acted within his rights and duty as an officer of the law and killed Michael Brown in self defense like any of us would in the circumstance. Now he has to fear the backlash against himself and his loved ones when he was only doing his job. What a horrible thing to endure. OR maybe he provoked Michael and ignited the series of events that led to him eventually murdering the young man to prove a point.

I’M OFFENDED, because of the insulting comments I’ve seen that are not only insensitive but dismissive to the painful experiences of others.

I’M CONFUSED, because I don’t know why it’s so hard to obey a policeman. You will not win!!! And I don’t know why some policeman abuse their power. Power is a responsibility, not a weapon to brandish and lord over the populace.

I’M INTROSPECTIVE, because sometimes I want to take “our” side without looking at the facts in situations like these. Sometimes I feel like it’s us against them. Sometimes I’m just as prejudiced as people I point fingers at. And that’s not right. How can I look at white skin and make assumptions but not want assumptions made about me? That’s not right.

I’M HOPELESS, because I’ve lived long enough to expect things like this to continue to happen. I’m not surprised and at some point my little children are going to inherit the weight of being a minority and all that it entails.

I’M HOPEFUL, because I know that while we still have race issues in America, we enjoy a much different normal than those of our parents and grandparents. I see it in my personal relationships with teammates, friends and mentors. And it’s a beautiful thing.

I’M ENCOURAGED, because ultimately the problem is not a SKIN problem, it is a SIN problem. SIN is the reason we rebel against authority. SIN is the reason we abuse our authority. SIN is the reason we are racist, prejudiced and lie to cover for our own. SIN is the reason we riot, loot and burn.

BUT I’M ENCOURAGED because God has provided a solution for sin through the his son Jesus and with it, a transformed heart and mind. One that’s capable of looking past the outward and seeing what’s truly important in every human being. The cure for the Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and Eric Garner tragedies is not education or exposure. It’s the Gospel. So, finally, I’M ENCOURAGED because the Gospel gives mankind hope.

.. well done , and well said ! …

… Dummies , the Point is Religious Freedom [#accomodation][#religious freedom]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,November 14th,2015

.. the 7th Circuit is highly libertarian , and the D.C. Circuit has [for now] gone totally loonie – leftie with Dingy Harry Reid ‘ s court – stuffing stunt ..

.. neither one seems to get the point , though . The point is that the filling out of the HHS form is a substantial burden on the religious order ‘ s freedom of religion , dummies ….

.. [h/t — HotAir.com]..
.. [link] to the blog post …

.. D.C. Appeals Court Judge Janice Rogers – Brown [a future GOP Supreme Court justice nominee] puts it very well in her stinging dissent , exceprted here …

This seems to miss an obvious causal step: the “mandate on insurers” at issue here is not merely a general ACA requirement to provide contraception coverage, but a series of cost-sharing mandates that are not triggered unless the religious groups fill out the form. In a powerful dissent, Judge Janice Rogers Brown explains why this is nonsense:

[T]his case is not “paradoxical” because Plaintiffs object to regulatory requirements the government intended as a religious accommodation. That the government’s expressed intent in enacting the regulations at issue was to allay religious adherents’ concerns about the contraception mandate is not determinative of the ultimate question of whether Plaintiffs were in fact accommodated. Where the government imposes a substantial burden on religious exercise and labels it an “accommodation,” that burden is surely as distressing to adherents as it would be if imposed without such a designation. Therefore, heightened skepticism is not appropriate. We should look at Plaintiffs’ claims as we would any RFRA claim. After all, in the substantial burden analysis, the government’s motivations— no matter how benevolent—are irrelevant; we ask only whether the government’s action operates to place “substantial pressure on an adherent to modify his behavior and to violate his beliefs.”

[…]

Plaintiffs identify at least two acts that the regulations compel them to perform that they believe would violate their religious obligations: (1) “hiring or maintaining a contractual relationship with any company required, authorized, or incentivized to provide contraceptive coverage to beneficiaries enrolled in Plaintiffs’ health plans,” Pet. for Reh’g En Banc at 3; and (2) “filing the self-certification or notification,” id. at 4. Plaintiffs have therefore shown both that they are being compelled to modify their behavior and that, if undertaken, the modification would be a violation of their religious beliefs.

[…]

The panel did not dispute that federal law operates to compel Plaintiffs to maintain a relationship with an issuer or TPA that will provide the contraceptive coverage and to execute the self-certification or alternative notice. Their disagreement with Plaintiffs is about the significance of those compelled acts; in other words, the panel rejected the “adherents’ claim about the religious meaning of the undisputed operation of [] federal regulation[s].”

.. you can count on this one going before the Supremes . SCOTUS will not be able to avoid it . The Court could even be down one justice , though . Why ? ..

.. I think that Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is slowly dying . Especially since she has already escaped pancreatic cancer once [already] , she is living on borrowed time . She wants to do as much damage as she still can while she still lives . However , I am betting [especially with Chuck Grasseley in charge of the Senate Judiciary Cmte] that …. His Lordship will try to push thru a radical leftist as her replacement , and the GOP – controlled Senate will have nothing of it …

… Our Troops have to Do What [#during Ramadan]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,July 4th,2014

.. I am a Roman Catholic , and I am gosh darned proud of it .

.. however , as Nancy Pelosi might soon find out about the hard way , Canon Law only applies to those of us of the faith . It applies to no one else …

.. as I understand it , for those of the jewish faith , Talmudic Law [I think the proper way to say it] only applies to those of the Jewish faith . It does not apply to others .

.. [h/t –– PamelaGeller]..
.. [link] to the blog news ..

.. so , why do our troops have to participate in the observance of Ramadan ? That fact is ridiculous …

.. some things are understandable . Curtailing drinking ,for example . Also , US – sponsored religious services on bases are conducted in private , and are not advertised all that much ..

.. but this ?? : ..

Really? How about equal time for the Jewish faith? The Christian faith? The Hindu faith?

US military  are encouraged “to experience Iftar in a Ramadan tent.”

Why anyone who is not a Muslim must stop eating (except in secret) during Ramadan is another example of Islamic supremacism. Unlike Jewish law, which pertains only to Jews, and Canon Law, which pertains only to Catholics, the Sharia asserts its totalitarian authority over non-Muslims.

During the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, Jews fast from sunup to sundown. Nowhere and at no time has the idea of no one else eating been considered. Nor should it.

The idea that our servicemen and women cannot have a coffee on their drive to work is outrageous and indicative of how far the West has gone in the norming of the sharia. Muslims eat a giant meal before sunup, but our boys and girls can’t have a coffee while we defend these countries in many cases? Supremacism and submission.

And it doesn’t stop there. Our soldiers (men and women) must wear long sleeve shirts. No alcohol or smoking  is permitted, and if all this weren’t pathetic enough, soldiers are instructed to say “Ramadan Kareem.”

… Free At Last [#free Meriam]…

.. the Sudanese know that she is still in danger . There are many , many zealots in Sudan , in particular , in and around Khartoum [the capital] . … Harvard at least Shows Some Sense [Satanic ” Black Mass”]

Especially considering Harvard ‘ s pedigree and history …

… You Would Have Thought By Now …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,April 27th,2014

.. that these idiots would have learned ..

.. unfortunately , it appears that they have not . Sadly , it appears that history is starting to repeat itself in Ukraine , in particular , in the eastern part of the country …

.. people have been passing out these leaflets [see below] :

eastern Ukraine (Jewish reg flyer)

.. basically , they call for all of the Jewish folk in the area to register with their local authorities , or else …

.. these things are sick , the height of anti – Semitism , and grotesque , and disgusting …

.. [h/t — theGatewayPundit]..
.. [link] to the blog news ..

.. have not these people [I would accuse the Russians of this] learned from their history , especially from their recent history . Ukrainians know better than most . More than 10 million Ukrainians of all faiths were murdered during the 1930s by the ” Liquidations ” by the N.K.V.D. under the Soviet Union and Josef Stalin . Worse was to come during World War iI ..

.. Virtually all of Ukraine was a battlefield throughout the war . Many millions more were killed . Probably more Ukrainians were killed (murdered) during the war [in percent terms] by far than even Russians . Much of Russia was also a battlefield , but Russia is far larger , both in terms of land area , and in terms of population . Stalin did not ” liquidate ” Russians as a people as he did Ukrainians during the ’30s , and much of the Soviet Union ‘ s jewish population , then and now , was and is located in Ukraine , not Russia ..

… Would Not Be Surprised by a Religious BugOut from Eastern Ukraine …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,April 27th,2014

.. or from all of Ukraine ..

.. It would be extraordinarily sad to see and to have happen . You would think by now that the Russians and Ukrainians would have learned their lesson . Unfortunately , I do not think that the Russians have , at least not as of yet …

..  it is not that I want it to happen , God only knows . I am a devout Roman Catholic , and I am very supportive of those of the Jewish faith .

.. Given the bullying tactics by Mad Vlad and his so – called ” buddies ” ready to roll across the border to snap up more land , there could end up being a lot more ethnic and religious strife in the area . It has happened there before , many times . The area has a bad history of religious violence , called ” pogroms , ” where the Jewish people end up getting rousted , and very often get murdered by all sides …

.. I do not think that is what the pro – Western and pro – democratic forces want this time . They want the Jewish folk to stay , because besides being a part of the mosaic of the nation , they are a stabilizing force for good in the country and the countryside …

… How Embarrassing is That ?!?! [POTUS sends ProDeath Delegation to Vatican Canonizations]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,April 27th,2014

.. I am a Roman Catholic . No , I do not wear my religious faith on my sleeve .

.. However , I am a devout Catholic . It means that I take my faith very seriously ..

.. This Sunday is a Historic Day . It is Divine Mercy Sunday [April 27th , 2014] . It is also the day that two popes [Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II] will be canonized as saints of the church . That will be an amazing and a historic day .

.. [h/t — Newsmax]..
.. [link] to the blog news ..

.. However , I cannot but condemn the actions of the ObamaCrap White House . They are sending a pro – Death delegation to the canonization ceremony . Yes , they are sending a largely pro – abortion delegation to represent our nation …

.. I cannot think of something that can insult Caholics and the Vatican more . There are a great many pro – life Democrats throughout the country . A suitable delegation easily could have been selected and sent to Rome . But no ……

.. What President Obama has allowed to be done in his name is gross , sick , and disgusting , and a grave insult to all people of faith …

.. Saint John XXIII and Saint John Paul II !!

.. today , both former Popes and successors of Saint Peter are to be canonized at the Vatican in Vatican City .

.. I can understand that it is going to be a ” zoo ” there in Rome and the surrounding regions . Pope John XXIII was from the Lombardy region in the north of Italy . It will draw a significant crowd from there , but not as much as one might think , since John XXIII has been gone for 51 years … for John Paul II , it is a very , very different matter …

.. [h/t — Newsmax]..
.. [link] to Edward Pentin ‘ s column …

.. His Holiness John Paul II was chosen Pope from a Poland that was not free . Poland at the time was a part of the Soviet Orbit , and a part of the Warsaw Pact . Now , the Soviet Union is gone , the Warsaw Pact is gone , and Poland is free . Better yet , Poland is probably the leading light of the post – Soviet nations , and with this event , you can guarantee many hundreds of thousands , potentially one or two million or more religious pilgrim will come to Rome and Vatican City for this event …

.. also , back in Poland , once it happens , I believe there will be a race to create a significant number of Catholic parishes (new ones) named after Saint John Paul II . I am not sure that the Archdioceses in Poland will allow existing parishes to change their names , but who knows ? I also think that the Archbishop must approve , plus the reigning prelate [ a Cardinal ] in Poland , as well ..

… This Bunch of Loonies Needs to Understand a Few Things …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,April 26th,2014

.. I am talking about the Freedom from Religion Foundation .

.. it seems that they have made it their mission in life to chase religion and faith from the public sphere and the public square …

.. just to remind them : …

.. [h/t — TruthRevolt]..
.. [link] to the post news …

.. we have a First Amendment to the United States Constitution ; and ,

.. it provides for the Freedom of Religion ; and ,

.. the provision that supposedly states that prohibits the establishment of religion refers to the establishment of a state church , as was done and still is done in England with the [Anglican] Church in England . Otherwise , the exercise of religion is allowed in public , you morons …

… Social Conservatives Do Care about Marriage …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,April 25th,2014

.. as do I …

.. that is why no – fault divorce should be torn dorn and abolished ..

.. [h/t — theAmericanConservative]..
.. [link] to the blog post ..

.. the idea is to make people think about what marriage means … what it is  , what it means ,  what it is for , why to get married , and why to end a marriage …

.. probably one of the worst ideas was no – fault divorce . It allows two people  [a man and a woman , thank you very much] to end their relationship without realizing why ? …

.. if you have made a mistake , one of the most important things is that most important choice : why ?

.. the problem with no – fault divorce is that it allows you to avoid understanding and thinking about that choice . If you do not think about it , you just might forget about your history . If you do , then you just might be doomed to repeat that mistake …

.. the thing is not that it makes divorce a hassle . The idea of things like a cooling – off period , marriage classes (like my church , the Roman Catholic Church has) , and the elimination of no – fault divorce is that it makes people do one important thing …

.. T – H – I – N – K ..

.. Governments give sanction to marriage and to divorce . We have to deal with the results of both , most importantly , with children and child support , abuse , infidelity , and whatnot … . So , how a marriage comes about is the government ‘ s business , to a certain point . Given the appalling divorce rate , and the damage that divorce does to a family .. to be honest , how a divorce comes about is also in part a government ‘ s business .

.. there is not an establishment clause in the Constitution . Yes , it is important in this argument . It is a prohibition against a state –  sanctioned and ” established ” church , i.e. , as was the Church of England is in the U.K. . Does it matter ? Yes ..

.. Many people get married in a Church . They generally do not get divorced in one . However , the foundation of our law is our morality . A great deal of the foundation of our morality comes from the sense of right and wrong . The largest part , though , comes from our sense of faith . Even an atheist has faith , believe it or not .

.. We need to make couples think about who they are , why they get married , and why they get divorced . No , it is not making things a ” hassle . ” Society has that right to expect that of civilized and moral people to behave themselves in a civil and moral way , by thinking about what they are doing , and not just acting on their feelings …

.. Sure , the feelings of love are a damn important part of a relationship , and of marriage . But , it is not the only part . There are more practical considerations , folks .. Such as whether it is the right thing to do , or whether we should . That is the idea of marriage classes , in basic … to be sure and certain as is possible …

.. especially , in order to avoid the ” D ” word , if at all possible …

.. they passed the MS Religious Freedom Restoration Act .

.. no , not without a fair bit of grief .

.. [h/t — NationalReview]..
.. [link] to the article …

.. it hews to the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act , which allows religious folks to protect their religious freedoms . It makes government have a really good reason for overruling them …
