… It is not being an Introvert that is the Problem [with POTUS] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,November 14th,2013

.. it is his lack of familiarity with the truth that is .

.. It never fails. Whenever a president’s approval ratings tank, out come the deep think pieces about how the president’s

Calvin Coolidge, President of the United State...

Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States of America. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

personality flaws explain his political dilemma and ours. POTUS , it seems , does not enjoy schmoozing, small talk and pressing the flesh. And that, according to Purdum, has something to do with why Americans have soured on his scandal-wracked, power-abusing, blunder-prone presidency.

Obama’s “resolute solitude — his isolation and alienation” from other Washington players — is “his greatest weakness.”

Purdum’s not the first to lay this charge. The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd periodically wails that Obama acts like “President Spock” instead of being our “feeler-in-chief.” And, “he’s an introvert,” says Game Change author John Heilemann, and that’s why he’s in trouble.

.. It is a common tale — and as a congenital introvert , I am sick of it . Obama is a terrible president , but, contra media types , that has got nothing to do with his “penchant for solitude.” Extroverts : Do Not Even think of trying to hang this on us .

.. As Jonathan Rauch explained in his classic 2003 Atlantic article, “Caring for Your Introvert,” introverts are not necessarily antisocial or misanthropic — we’re people who are wired to enjoy solitude and need it to recharge after social interaction. And, dammit, we’re “among the most misunderstood and aggrieved groups in America.” Introversion, Rauch wrote, is “not a choice. It’s not a lifestyle. It’s an orientation.”

.. In that light, the common media argument is so incoherent and self-contradictory, it’s hard not to suspect him of rank “lonerphobia.” He asks, “were Obama’s aides too afraid to tell him” about tapping Angela Merkel’s cellphone or the problems with healthcare.gov?

.. There is no single convincing example of what victories more backslapping, jawboning and congressional “beer summits” would have delivered to the president . When you find yourself writing sentences like, “it’s hard to imagine that Obama did not do himself at least some real harm in September by abruptly canceling the annual congressional picnic at the White House,” it might be time to reevaluate your argument.

In his influential 1972 book, The Presidential Character, political scientist James David Barber argued that we should pick presidents by their personality type.

The “active-positive” president — the ideal voters should seek — tackles the job with manic energy and zest, and “gives forth the feeling that he has fun in political life.”

The “passive-negative” sees the office as a matter of stern duty, and his “tendency is to withdraw.” Among Barber’s “active-positives” were crusading meddlers like FDR, Truman and JFK; his “passive-negatives” included the Cincinnatus-like figures Washington, Eisenhower and the under-appreciated Calvin Coolidge, who cut taxes, shrank spending and delivered peace and prosperity.

.. Introverts  can make good presidents. Obama ’ s current predicament stems in large part from his lack of acquaintance with the truth . This one is a personality flaw that has nothing to do with his sometimes solitary nature .

Ivan Held, the president of Putnam Books, Clancy’s publisher, confirmed his death to the New York Times, adding that Clancy “was a thrill to work with.” He did not provide a cause of death.

Clancy was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 12, 1947. He is the author of the popular Jack Ryan series, among many others. His novels have repeatedly been #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list, and four of his books have been adapted for film, including his first, “The Hunt for Red October.” His latest book, “Command Authority,” is slated for publication this December.

… Another Classic Take from Dr. Krauthammer [Fox News Special Report panel]

commentators on FoxNewsChannel ‘ s Special Report with Bret Baier .

.. This one is another classic , where the eminent Dr. Charles takes apart POTUS and his cast of idiots [link]

.. text —

Russian president Vladimir Putin’s recent op-ed in the New York Times is what you get from an American inept foreign policy, Charles Krauthammer said Thursday night.

“Well, these are the fruits of a completely incompetent, epically incompetent foreign policy,” Krauthammer said in his regular panel appearance on Special Report. He argued that the op-ed by Putin, whom he called “a KGB thug,” served as an “index” of how badly Obama has been “played.”

“What we’re seeing here is Putin so confident of himself after Obama had to acquiesce to this face-saving negotiation that he could actually engage in this,” Krauthammer said.

… No , You Idiot . That Is Their Job …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,July 28th,2013

.. I am amazed at how many POTUSes do not understand what a central bank is , and what their job is . Barack Obama is , unfortunately , no exception .

.. A central bank ‘ s job is very simple , yet , equally complex . One of a central bank ‘s simplest jobs is dealing with inflation . Inflation in any economy is a very bad idea . The total abscence of inflation (or deflation) is also a very bad idea . Maintaining it at a low level , and a stable level , would be the best idea .

The other principal task of a central bank is managing the stability of the markets . Oversight , some regulation , and some

Barack Obama

intervention come to mind , but they are not exclusively the only things a central bank does .
Another is the stability of the currency . This one is separate from the above .
A modern economy cannnot exist , in reality , without a currency . A modern economy cannot really be successful without a stable currency . Boring with a currency is better than lively .

.. There are some tasks for which a central bank does bear some responsibility . One is government finance . It does not bear the direct burden , as the Treasury Department handles that . Indirectly , it does . If it does not do its other jobs , then the government cannot finance its spending , or its debt . Another is the economy itself . Many millions and tens of millions of actions , each and every second , are the lifeblood of the economy . A central bank can choose to have a great deal of influence over the economy , depending on how it uses the tools that it has at its disposal . The injection of $80 billion a month in cash from the purchase of mortgage – backed securities is a classic example . However , that gravy train is coming to an end . The economy will have to stand on its own two feet .

.. Unfortunately , Barack Obama is clueless about the economy . How it works , what capital is , how it is raised and spend , and a great many things . He has never held a job in the private sector , and has never had to deal with the headaches that government regulations can create , and the expenses that they cause . He is hardly one to champion the cause of “the little guy .”

.. Read thru this moneynews.com piece , and you will understand that we are headed for big trouble in the coming months . The markets will not like whomever POTUS chooses . The markets want and need a hard case . Obama wants a “softie.” …

President Barack Obama says his next Fed chairman should take ordinary people into account when setting monetary policy.

Obama told The New York Times in an interview on the paper’s website Saturday that he wants someone who won’t just work abstractly to keep inflation in check and maintain stability in the markets. He said he wants the next Fed chairman to also promote policies that will help make ordinary people’s lives better.

The president began a series of speeches last week promoting ideas for easing the burdens on the middle class.

Obama is considering replacements for Ben Bernanke, whose term as Fed chairman expires early next year.

Former Obama economic adviser Larry Summers and Janet Yellen, the Fed’s current vice chair, are among the leading candidates for the job.

A senior White House official told The Associated Press on Friday that Obama was not expected to announce a replacement for Bernanke before the fall. The official was not authorized to speak by name about internal White House deliberations over personnel decisions.

… the Perverted Party …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,July 27th,2013

.. how anyone can tolerate such infantile and immoral behaviour out of candidates for office , or out of sitting office holders , is beyond me ? Yet , the DemoCraptic Party continues to do so . The latest examples are currently on public display .

..Liberal bias is not a matter of unfairness, but rather a matter of dishonesty —  deliberately ignoring some facts, and misrepresenting other facts, in order to misinform the public by portraying to them a politically falsified view of
events and personalities. If there were ever any honest person employed by the  New York Times (one can stipulate the hypothetical), that person would have been obligated to quit Thursday morning, when the banner headline on the front page of the paper should have been: “ANDREW BREITBART WAS RIGHT.” (An appropriate subhead might be, “Anthony Weiner Is a Typically Dishonest Democrat Dirtbag.”)

.. Cheating a great man out of his posthumous vindication is, however, just small change in the vast franchise of journalistic dishonesty of which the New York Times is the flagship enterprise. The fundamental falsehood of the whole Big Lie business is that Democrats are virtuous simply because they are Democrats, which is the only reason any fool ever could have
thought a wretched human stain like Anthony Weiner worthy of admiration. . .

.. Whatever anyone might say about that incident, it certainly was not a coincidence, nor was it coincidental that liberal media organizations were perfectly willing to assist in Weiner’s political rehabilitation. There was a reason, after all, that Weiner’s young cybersex partner told her tale to a gossip blog, rather than to any major newspaper or TV network. If a conspicuously married Democrat politician is engaged in sleazy shenanigans with a 22-year-old, no respectable liberal journalist wants to break that story. In 2011, it was Andrew Breitbart who turned Anthony Weiner’s sordid secrets into a national drama that drove the New York congressmen to resign in disgrace. Breitbart died last year, and so the latest revelations came from Nik Richie at TheDirty.com, because none of the “mainstream” reporters at the New York Times, the Washington Post, NBC, ABC, CBS or CNN showed the least bit of curiosity about the other young girls who had been objects of Weiner’s perverse attentions. Exactly
how many others there were we probably will never know, because there has been a rigorous journalistic commitment to knowing as little as possible about the online erotic adventures of “Carlos Danger,” as Weiner sometimes styled
himself. If Watergate had been reported in the manner of WeinerGate, Ben Bradlee never would have let Woodward and Bernstein go so far as to mention the name of E. Howard Hunt in the pages of the Washington Post.

.. Did anyone mention that Anthony Weiner is a Democrat? Republican politicians have occasionally survived sex scandals, but only a Democrat could expect to survive after being caught twice . And only a Democrat could, after such a humiliating revelation, hold a press conference and say that his plan was to “move forward,” bringing along the wife he had so deliberately betrayed, expecting her to stand beside him and avow her continued devotion to him. (How smooth, indeed.) Democrats have managed to convince a lot of Americans that there is no real danger to our society from creeps and perverts and rampant promiscuity. No, say the Democrats, the real danger is that those reactionary Republican bigots might “turn back the clock” and deprive America of such glorious pleasures as abortion, sex education, pornography and casual hook-ups arranged on the Internet.

.. It is interesting how Democrats are permitted this double standard: They defend the “right” of people to do what Anthony Weiner did (and do much worse), yet pretend they are not actually in favor of them doing it. Therefore it is best, from the liberal perspective, that no one make too much of the lurid details of Weiner’s antics, nor examine the effort to intimidate Weiner’s critics, nor suggest that Weiner’s persistently abnormal appetites are closely related to his status as a loyal Democrat. Any decent parent would be outraged at the thought of married middle-aged men secretively sending Internet messages to ask if their daughter’s crotch is “smooth,” and no decent parent would ever vote for the Pervert Party.

Israel Angered by U.S. Leaks of Submarine Missile Attack on Syria

Israeli officials say leak should have been coordinated with Tel Aviv

Bill Gertz // July 24, 2013 5:00 am

Israeli government officials voiced anger at U.S. press leaks traced to the Pentagon following the July 5 Israeli missile attack on the Syrian port of Latakia that destroyed a shipment of Russian-made anti-ship missiles, according to U.S. officials.

Senior Pentagon officials, including Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter who is currently visiting Israel, discussed the leaks during meetings with Israeli officials this week. The Israelis argued in private meetings and other exchanges that the disclosures could lead to Syrian counterattacks against Israel and should have been coordinated first with Tel Aviv.

Pentagon press secretary George Little declined to comment when asked if Carter discussed the leaks in meetings with Israeli officials on Monday.

The Israeli military attack was unusual because it involved a submarine-launched cruise missile strike on the Syrian city of Latakia, a major port.

The covert attack destroyed a stockpile of what was believed to be 50 new Russian-made anti-ship missiles called the Yakhont that U.S.

.. an israeli german – made dolphin – class diesel sub ..

officials said could be used against ships that will provide arms in the future to Syrian rebels.

According to U.S. officials, the Israeli government censored domestic press reports about the attack over concerns that any public discussion might prompt Syrian counterattacks against the Jewish state.

Israel also feared the Yakhont missiles would be transferred to Hezbollah, the Lebanese-based Iranian terrorist organization that in the past was supplied by Iran with advanced Chinese anti-ship missiles.

A Hezbollah-fired C-802 anti-ship missile was used to nearly sink an Israeli corvette off the coast of Lebanon during the 2006 summer war. The C-802s were sold to Iran in the 1990s and transferred to Hezbollah to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to the unprecedented security cooperation between the United States and Israel, and to discuss a range of issues of mutual importance, including Syria and Iran,” by Tehran.

Carter met with senior Israeli security officials “Little said in a statement issued Monday.

Among those who met with Carter were Defense Minister Moshe “Boogie” Ya’alon, National Security Advisor retired Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror, and retired Maj. Gen. Udi Shani, director general of the Defense Ministry.

“They reaffirmed that the U.S.-Israel defense relationship has never been stronger and agreed to continue to consult closely on shared security interests,” Little said.

The reports on the Latakia raid that angered the Israelis first appeared on CNN July 12 and a day later in the New York Times.

The news organizations quoted “multiple U.S. officials,” and “American officials” respectively.

Israel has carried out several foreign military attacks in recent years, most notably the airstrike that destroyed a Syrian-North Korean nuclear facility at Al Kibar, Syria.

Israel’s military has also conducted attacks in Syria in recent months that were aimed at destroying caches of shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles and Iranian short-range ballistic missiles believed destined for Hezbollah fighters.

A U.S. official said signs of Israeli anger over the Latakia raid disclosures appeared in several Israel press outlets. One Israeli official was described as “furious” over the leak because the Pentagon did not coordinate its release of information first with Israel.

Other Israeli officials were quoted as saying that in the aftermath of the Yakhont missile strikes that ties between Israel and Syria had reached a new peak and that there are worries that tying Israel to the attack will prompt Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad to retaliate soon or against a future Israeli attack.

Israel has said that it would take action to prevent chemical weapons from falling into the hands of terrorists in Syria. But it has not commented on its lesser actions against Syrian arms sent to the Damascus regime by Russia or Iran, Assad’s main backers.

Israeli press commentary on the Latakia raid disclosures suggested the U.S. news reported risked the lives of Israeli and may have been part of Obama administration debate over U.S. military intervention in Syria’s civil war.

Another commentator, Dan Margalit, stated in the daily newspaper Yisrael Hayom that the leak was part of a U.S. ploy to force Israel into the Syrian conflict as a way to pressure Assad into stepping down and leaving the country, as a way to avoid U.S. military intervention.

Another journalist, Ron Ben-Yishay, wrote on the news website Ynetnews that the Pentagon leaked the information to show that airstrikes in Syria are possible.

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, this week outlined U.S. military options for Syria in a letter to Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Sen. Carl Levin (D., Mich.).

The Obama administration recently agreed to supply Syrian rebels with small arms but is considering larger military intervention, including the imposition of an air exclusive zone over Syria.

An Israeli government spokesman referred questions about the leaks to a comment made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that was published July 21 in the German news outlet Welt am Sonntag.

Asked if it bothered him that sensitive information was leaked on the Latakia raid and other past operations by Israel’s American friends, Netanyahu said: “I am not responsible for what people say we do or don’t do. I am responsible for our policy which is to prevent the transfer of dangerous weapons to Hezbollah and I am also responsible for what we say and if I have anything to say, I’ll say it.”

… Earth to ” Three Musketeers ” … [bad boy politicians]

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,July 24th,2013

.. Get Out of here .

.. Especially you , Anthony Weiner .

.. Bob Filner & Elliot Spitzer are bad enough . Both of them should get out of politics . Filner is a current office holder , being the current Mayor of San Diego . It goes without saying that he should resign his job . He is a serial sexual harasser , fondler , and likely , a sexual assaulter and rapist . He needs to go . Spitzer should withdraw from the Comptroller ‘ s race , today .

.. However , Anthony Weiner is in a class (below) of his own , by himself . The New York Times editorial board declared Tuesday evening that amid more sex scandal accusations, former congressman Anthony Weiner should withdraw from the race for New York mayor.

The board suggested that “the serially evasive Mr. Weiner should take his marital troubles and personal compulsions out of the public eye, away from cameras, off the Web and out of the race for mayor of New York City.”

Accusations against Weiner surfaced Tuesday from nightlife website “The Dirty.” The site claims Weiner sexted with a young woman both before and after his resignation from Congress in 2011; screenshots of their alleged online conversations were also posted.

As The Times points out, it is the timing of this newest revelation that matters, “as it would for any politician who violates the public’s trust and then asks to have it back.”

During a press conference on Tuesday, Weiner acknowledged that some of the reports were accurate, and though his problem continued into 2012, “the behavior is behind me.” He plans to continue with his campaign.

The board declared Weiner’s statement “ridiculous.”

LEC again —  anyone suffering from the overexposure like that below (these pictures) should have the decency , dignity , and sanity to withdraw . I rarely quote from the Slimes , much less want to use their material . Today , I do .  Take your dirty laundry , Anthony , and  GO  ! …

… the LameStreamMedia and Its Role in the George Zimmerman Case

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,July 15th,2013

the LameStreamMedia and Its Role in the George Zimmerman Case

.. The media’s role in the Zimmerman case must not go unexamined. The fact is, the  Sanford Police Department, which became the media and race hustlers’ target  during this saga, got things right . They took Zimmerman in after the shooting,  interviewed him, examined the evidence from his wounds to the full 911 call, and  concluded that he had shot Martin in self-defense .

.. The “Police department gets things right” script seldom makes for a sexy media narrative, just as “Hispanic neighborhood watchman shoots black teen behaving suspiciously in self-defense” does not advance any media narrative. So the media and the race hustlers fabricated a narrative based on falsified evidence .

.. NBC’s deceptive edit of the 911 call turned the evidence on its head and created a racial narrative that the facts do not support and never did. That edit, which despite NBC’s claims could not have been accidental, was malicious. It was also, in retrospect at least, racist . ABC News was not a whole heck of a lot better . NBC should bring its checkbook to settlement negotiations with Zimmerman and his lawyers in his defamtion lawsuit . At least , George Zimmerman will end up with a fair bit of $$ to begin in the rebuilding of his life and his future .

.. The media almost never reports black-on-black crime or black-on-white  crime in America. It reserves most of its crime stories to celebrity killings,  attractive women or children who have gone missing, and incidents that advance  political narratives like the murders of James Byrd and Matthew Shepard. The Zimmerman case became political because the media, led by NBC News and ABC News,  fabricated evidence in order to make it political. A Hispanic man killing a  young black man in self-defense is far less interesting and politically useful  than an older white man shooting an innocent black boy in cold blood and then  claiming self-defense. The media recognized that it could use the Martin  shooting to advance narratives of racism while also attacking the Second  Amendment and “stand your ground” laws.

.. So the media engaged in racism en masse , turned Zimmerman white, and faked the evidence to make him a murderer. The media’s racism has put Zimmerman on trial and America on edge as the case nears the verdict phase. Threats of race riots hang not just over central Florida, but the entire country, if the jury acquits Zimmerman. We would not be here if media from NBC to ABC to the New York Times had not deliberately turned the shooting into a racial incident.

.. Zimmerman filed a lawsuit against NBC in December 2012. That case should go forward once he is acquitted in the criminal trial. Hopefully his lawsuit  against NBC will expose the media for its irresponsible and devious political  practices and its racism. George Zimmerman should end up a very wealthy man, if  any “justice” is to finally be done in this case.

… In Defense of the 1st Amendment …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 13th,2013

… In Defense of the 1st Amendment

.. Judith Miller, then a reporter for The New York Times, became the heroine of a cause celebre when federal prosecutors demanded she testify to a grand jury investigating a White House leak divulging that Valerie Plame was an undercover operative of the CIA. The government demanded she reveal her confidential sources for stories she wrote about the leak. Ms. Miller refused , and she was found in contempt of court and jailed for 85 days. She became a household name , and the poster child for freedom of the press.

.. Not as many people have heard the name Jana Winter . She , too  , is a reporter who faces jail time for refusing to divulge her sources .

English: Judith Miiler, frequently a panelist ...

English: Judith Miiler, frequently a panelist on Fox News Watch (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The mainstream media does not seem to care very much. She is employed by the Fox News Channel , regarded as vile by the right-thinking people on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

.. In an affidavit filed with the court, Ms. Winter said, “In all of the time that I have worked as a journalist, I have always maintained my commitments to sources to keep the identities of confidential sources safe from disclosure. As a result, I enjoy an excellent reputation as an investigative journalist among my peers, and, as importantly, among the sources upon whom I rely to obtain information for my reporting. If this reputation were tarnished, it would severely compromise my ability to gather news, and would assuredly result in critical reports on public issues never seeing the light of the day.”

.. The case has serious implications for both the First Amendment, and for states, such as Colorado , that have enacted “shield laws” to protect reporters from revealing their sources. Colorado ‘ s law requires a court to determine whether the information obtained by a reporter is “directly relevant to a substantial issue in the proceedings.” In this case , it is clear that it does not . While Ms. Winter’s reporting demonstrated that the suspect had a desire to commit violent acts, it has no bearing on whether Mr. Holmes committed them.

.. If Ms. Winter is compelled to reveal her sources , it will have a chilling effect on reporters’ ability to gather and deliver news . The New York Times and other mainstream outlets have given scant attention or support for Ms . Winter ‘ s defense of the First Amendment. The Constitution, and Ms. Winter, deserve better.
