… A Serious Question Was Posed [#Wisconsin][#right to work]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,August 4th,2015

.. no , it is not a joke .

.. anyone at any private business that is unionized [or not] is affected . Once the bill takes effect , then they have the right to choose whether or not to join a union local . That choice is stripped from the big labour bosses , who then cannot force a person to join against their will ..

.. does it apply to sports teams ? . They were referring to the Milwaukee Bucks and , more specifically , the Green Bay Packers …

.. you bet that it does . The players on each team [while playing for the team in Wisconsin] would have the choice on whether or not to join a union . It applies to them as well …

.. what the N.B.A. is going to do , I do not know . I would guess that an indefinite leave of absence would be in order [with a return only to be approved by the league] …

.. this will give the league a chance to investigate what the heck happened . Also , it will give them a chance to consult with many people , including civil rights people , Hall – of – Famers , other owners (current and former) , and other figures . It will obviously not take the sting out of the alleged comments , though …

… Nice Going , Kobe Bryant …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,April 7th,2014

.. no , I really mean this .

.. Kobe has been caught up in a rough season , to say the least . He spent the most chunk of last season rehabbing after surgery on a blowout in his Achilles tendon . Then , early this year , he suffered a hairline fracture in his leg , knocking him out of the beginning of the season …

.. things have not gotten a whole lot better for him . He was only able to play about 12 to 15 games this season . The problem is that he reinjured his leg , leaving him out roughly for the remainder of the season . The Lakers really stink this year , so having him come back for a few games to finish the year makes no sense . Better to have him sit out , rest up , and get healthy ….

.. however , it is his comments on the Trayvon Martin case that have gotten him into considerable hot water . He bascially said that , just because that he is an  African – American (a black man) , that he should or could automatically support Trayvon Martin  and his cause just because of the color of his skin . The back hand of  this is that one should support Trayvon Martin from the merit of the arguments and the case , not because of skin color …

.. Kobe has an outlook on life different than most folks . His father [Joe ” Jellybean ” Bryant] was also a pro basketball player  , Joe Bryannt played some in the N.B.A. , but he played most of his professional career in Europe ,  specifically in Italy , around Rome . So Kobe was raised in a European atmosphere , travelingto various cities in Italy and other European nations (Germany & France) , plus a base in Rome gave Joe a chance to expose Kobe to the Vatican and  the Holy See …

… Nice Call , Kobe …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,April 2nd,2014

.. no , I am not Black .

.. but , that does not mean that I cannot agree with Kobe Bryant on his comments about Trayvon Martin and Blacks (African – Americans) …

.. [h/t — theRightScoop]..
.. [link] to the blogpost …

.. I won’t react to something just because I’m supposed to, because I’m an African-American,” he said. “That argument doesn’t make any sense to me. So we want to advance as a society and a culture, but, say, if something happens to an African-American we immediately come to his defense? Yet you want to talk about how far we’ve progressed as a society? Well, we’ve progressed as a society, then don’t jump to somebody’s defense just because they’re African-American. You sit and you listen to the facts just like you would in any other situation, right? So I won’t assert myself.”

The profile goes on to quote former NFL running back Jim Brown, who at one point said, “[Kobe] is somewhat confused about culture, because he was brought up in another country.” Bryant then defended himself on Twitter, writing, “A ‘Global’ African American is an inferior shade to ‘American’ African American?? #hmmm. that doesn’t sound very #Mandela or #DrKing sir.”

.. I completely agree with Kobe here and would add that supporting a black president simply because he’s black is the same thing. And he’s right, neither represents actual progress.
