… What a Crybaby [Elijah Cummings] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,March 12th,2014

.. Elijah Cummings is a Congresscritter .

.. he is not even close to being an honest broker .

.. he is also in the minority . He should be acting to seek the truth . What he has been doing is obstructing justice , and running political interference for the ObamaCraps …

.. because he refuses to do his job , the Committee Chairman (Darrell Issa) shut him down in the committee . When he went into a tirade , Congressman Issa shut off his microphone , which is the chairman ‘ s right , as well as his duty . Issa needed to do it , given Cummings ‘ misconduct and obstruction …

… What was Alan Grayson thinking ? ….

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,October 28th,2013

.. Alan Grayson is an over – the – top political figure , that is without question . But what he has done this time has put him waaaay past waaaay over the line .

.. There are quite a few demagogues in the Democratic party . Usually , these find a line that it is not acceptible to cross . Unfortunately , Alan Grayson is not one of them . When he sees any type of that line he either ignores it , or erases it . And as lunatic left fringe as the party leadership is (safe Steny Hoyer of Maryland) , I would think that they would find this commentary” far less than helpful ” . ..  One thing is fundraising . A lightning rod such as Grayson is a perfect foil to lash the DemoCraps with to the mizzen mast . Even more than that , it also represents the future lunacy that is in story (politics and policy both) if the Dems continue in any kind of power , anywhere , ever again . .. Another thing is candidate recruitment . You do not want nuts . But you do want the serious , and the committed . These days ,  the wealthiest the potential candidate , the better …

… How Petty is This [NPS goon squad tactics]

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,October 16th,2013

.. this I picked up from CNSnews . com … – National Park Service (NPS) rangers removed the handles from some 40 public water pumps and closed

Map of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National ...

Map of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, along the former Chesapeake and Ohio Canal between Cumberland, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., USA. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

restrooms in the 184.5 mile- C&O Canal National Historical Park, but they haven’t been able to keep hikers and bikers off the popular trail known as a “cyclist’s dream.”

“It’s full every day,” said Gail Hall, who runs Mountain Side Bikes at the trailhead in Cumberland, Md. “They’re bringing in their own water and utilizing the tree-lined areas [of the park] for restrooms. Some towns like Harper’s Ferry even brought in potties to accommodate them. As long as they can pedal, they don’t care.”

Cumberland Times-News reporter Matthew Bieniek, who first reported that the handles on the park’s old-fashioned water pumps had been removed as part of the federal government shutdown, told that Park Superintendent Kevin Brandt told him that the pumps had been disabled “to discourage people from attempting to use the park.”

But Michael Nardolilli, president of the non-profit C&O Canal Historical National Park Trust, which runs interpretive programs at the park’s historic lockhouses, later said that the pump handles were removed for “public health reasons.”

“The State of Maryland requires the park to monitor 40 public wells for contaminants every two weeks,” he told “When the park was shut down on October 1st, they furloughed the park employees who do the testing,” and the park was “not in compliance with Maryland water quality standards.”

Nardolilli added that C&O is home to “1,300 historical structures, more than any other unit in the National Park Service,” and “60 rare or endangered species.” He said there are currently “no eyes and ears to protect these resources” because the “handful of Park Police still on duty” are too busy patrolling the entrances to the park’s 15,000 acres in a futile attempt to keep people out.

As of Monday, there were no barriers on the footpaths in Cumberland leading to the towpath, which stretches along the Potomac River to Washington, D.C., Bieniek confirmed. “A lot of people are riding their bikes on the towpath. I have not heard about a single person being asked to leave” since the park officially closed, he added.

Nardolilli said he also has not heard any reports that people who enter the park are being arrested or given citations by park police. Neither has Hall. “No one has reported any problems,” she said.

The 150-mile Great Alleghany Passage, which runs from Pittsburgh, Penn. and joins the C&O Canal towpath in Cumberland, is run by a private non-profit and is still open as usual, Hall said. And all but a few NPS-funded campgrounds along the route are also open for business.

The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, which was chartered by President James Monroe, opened in 1828 to allow horse-and mule-pulled barges to transport coal, lumber and agricultural products to Washington. It was used as a shipping lane until 1924.
.. LEC here — It is nice to see that the non – profits and the locals along the trail have picked up the ball . The trail was going to get activity , in any case  . They moved and acted to see that the visitors along the way would be taken care of , and would  not be forgotten about …

.. Northeast Ohio (where I am from) has done something fairly similar . We in Ohio have only one national park in the entire state . It is the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area , which was created in 1974 ,  and designated as a national park in 2001 .

.. It is , as you might expect , is officially “closed . ” However , the length of the recreation area is a transportation and recreation thoroughfare for folks throughout the region (Greater Cleveland and Greater Akron) … Even if they wanted to zip it up tight , they could not . Hopefully , they have not gotten this petty ,  as the National Park Service has been in the D.C./Maryland/WV/Pa region .. Boy , have they ever , from millions  of tweets …

Obamacare Marketplace: Personal Data Can Be Used For ‘Law Enforcement and Audit Activities’

Jeryl Bier

October 8, 2013 3:39 PM

Maryland’s Health Connection, the state’s Obamacare marketplace, has been plagued by delays in the first days of open enrollment.  If users are able to endure long page-loading delays, they are presented with the website’s privacy policy, a ubiquitous fine-print feature on websites that often go unread. Nevertheless, users are asked to check off a box that they agree to the terms.

The policy contains many standard statements about information automatically collected regarding Internet browsers and IP addresses, temporary “cookies” used by the site, and website accessibility.  However, at least two conditions may give some users pause before proceeding.

The first is regarding personal information submitted with an application for those users who follow through on the sign up process all the way to the end.  The policy states that all information to help in applying for coverage and even for making a payment will be kept strictly confidential and only be used to carry out the function of the marketplace.  There is, however, an exception: “[W]e may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.”  Here is the entire paragraph from the policy the includes the exception :

Should you decide to apply for health coverage through Maryland Health Connection, the information you supply in your application will be used to determine whether you are eligible for health and dental coverage offered through Maryland Health Connection and for insurance affordability programs. It also may be used to assist you in making a payment for the insurance plan you select, and for related automated reminders or other activities permitted by law.  We will preserve the privacy of personal records and protect confidential or privileged information in full accordance with federal and State law. We will not sell your information to others.  Any information that you provide to us in your application will be used only to carry out the functions of Maryland Health Connection. The only exception to this policy is that we may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.

The site does not specify if “appropriate authorities” refers only to state authorities or if it could include the federal government, as well.  Neither is there any detail on what type of law enforcement and/or audit activities would justify the release of the personal information, or who exactly is authorized to make such a determination.  An email to the Maryland Health Connection’s media contact seeking clarification has not yet been answered

The second privacy term that may prompt caution by users relates to email communications.  The policy reads:

If you send us an e-mail, we use the information you send us to respond to your inquiry. E-mail correspondence may become a public record. As a public record, your correspondence could be disclosed to other parties upon their request in accordance with Maryland’s Public Information Act.

Since emails to the marketplace could conceivably involve private matters regarding finances, health history, and other sensitive issues, the fact that such information could be made part of the “public record” could prevent users from being as free with their information than they might otherwise be.  However, as noted, any requests for such emails would still be subject to Maryland’s Public Information Act which contains certain exceptions to the disclosure rules.

LEC here — it does not just apply to the sctuff from the health insurance exchange . It refers to “law enforcement.” You know what that means …. whatever they want it to mean … Are you sure you want to turn over your personal and private information to these idiots ??? … I thought not ! …

… Welcome to the New Media Frontier , Washington ComPost …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,August 8th,2013

.. It is time to be slimmed down in order to compete . Otherwise , put your head between your knees and get ready to “die…”

[h/t — TAS // matt purple]

.. Americans have been facing the consequences of a shifting economy for years now . These effects often come in the form of lost jobs, foreclosed homes, and relocation. The national debt is unfathomably high, cities are going bankrupt, and small-business growth has ground to a halt thanks to burdensome regulations and health care costs. Meanwhile the Post gets sold to a different owner and suddenly it is the equivalent of sending loved ones to a crematorium. It is similar to what happened with the sequester: The Beltway experiences a gentle lick of the recession it helped create, and all hell breaks loose.

.. One should head west , outward from Washington , D.C. , Fantasyland on the Potomac .  Out beyond what Washington radio stations call the “DMV”—D.C., Maryland, and Virginia  . One should do so , fittingly abbreviated as a comically incompetent government agency—and try to find one person, just one, who cares deeply about the fact that the Post has changed hands. Surely there is someone out there who will express concerns about his job security and the intrusion of environmental regulations . They will think that is  far more important  than the fate of the Post , even though it will now be owned by someone else  .

.. Just one. He  or  she has  got to be out there.

.. The busines model  of news media , in  general , and newspapers  , in particular , must evolve . The market has given it no choice . Also , new media outlets are crushing the competition , and kicking their fannies . Either they evolve ,  or they may meet the fate of the Rocky Mountain News .  note the crossout . the RMN has been gone for a few years …

… the Lunatics Brigade …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,July 21st,2013

… lets start it off with a notorious nutcase , Brett Kimberlin .

.. Rob McCain (theOtherMcCain) and others know him better than I do , but I have read enough about him to consider him to be extremely dangerous ..

.. let me repost some material from theOtherMcCain , because Rob knows him as well as just about anyone , save Aaron Walker ( …

“What [Brett Kimberlin] revealed is the creepy depths he goes to when he is angry at someone, trying to smear their reputations.”
– Aaron Walker, “Final Peace Order Hearing Between Jay Elliott and Brett Kimberlin,” July 16

“Kimberlin, you may recall, was the convicted bomber, habitual liar, and all-around sociopath who claimed to have sold drugs to Dan Quayle.”
– “Cody Shearer,” Slate, May 22, 1999

“Kimberlin seemed to be the only one with a possible motive — to distract police attention from the Scyphers murder and delay or halt their quiet investigation of him.”
– R. Joseph Gelarden, Indianapolis Star, “Kimberlin case a maze of murder, deceit,” Oct. 18, 1981

One thing you learn quickly about convicted bomber Brett Kimberlin is the wholly selfish, negative and destructive nature of his personality. If Brett Kimberlin hates you, he will do anything within his power to harm you — even though he derives no benefit from these destructive acts other than the sadistic vengeful pleasure of inflicting harm. Now that Kimberlin is engaged in legal warfare against his wife who left him, we can observe conclusive proof that (a) Kimberlin’s attacks on enemies like Aaron Walker were never really about politics, and (b) the “Accuse the Accusers” method is Kimberlin’s characteristic strategy.

In an effort to discredit his estranged wife Tetyana, Brett Kimberlin had her taken into custody July 6, seeking to have her involuntarily committed for psychiatric evaluation. This vindictive strategy failed — Tetyana was immediately released by Montgomery County District Court Judge Patricia Mitchell — but Kimberlin has continued this destructive smear against her. In a hearing Tuesday before Maryland District Court Judge Barry Hamilton, Kimberlin claimed that Tetyana is mentally ill, off her medications for bipolar disorder.

Note that this smear was entirely irrelevant to the matter before the court, namely the effort of Tetyana’s boyfriend Jay Elliott to get a final peace order against Kimberlin. The judge unfortunately denied that peace order, which means that Kimberlin will be free to continue the harassment Elliott described in his petition:

Elliott, who is employed as a restaurant manager, wrote in his peace order petition that Kimberlin had been threatening and harassing him since October, “calling my work and say[ing] I better watch out.” Elliot said Kimberlin is “going to make me lose my job. … Now my job is on the line. … This is getting out of control.”

Furthermore, Brett Kimberlin has unleashed his online presence against his wife to reinforce his attempts to discredit and destroy her.

A pro-Kimberlin Internet site (which I will neither name nor link) published these tendentious assertions:

Mental illness is a common problem that tears many American families apart, but Tetyana Kimberlin was able to remain with her husband Brett and their children despite her malady. Friends knew them as a troubled, but loving family that was beating its challenges. In fact, Tetyana stopped taking her medication last year, and Brett was worried. . . .
Mental illness often results in arrest and unemployment, but it isn’t clear what arrest Tetyana is talking about. The people who know Brett and Tetyana best understand exactly why he would ask the judge to have her examined. . . .
Note that in Maryland, being off your medication is not enough grounds to be involuntarily committed. Tetyana has to want to get better, and she will never want to get well as long as she has a support network to keep her from hitting bottom.

Please notice these intimations of personal familiarity: “Friends knew them . . . The people who know Brett and Tetyana best . . .”

Who is the author of these claims on a pro-Kimberlin site? Other than the attempt to smear and discredit Tetyana, what possible motive could anyone have for publishing such things? Does Tetyana Kimberlin know the person responsible for these attacks?

“Accuse the Accusers” — a strategy by which Kimberlin and his allies seek to discredit anyone who tells the truth about Brett Kimberlin.

The use of pseudonyms (and a site hosted by a secretive overseas provider used by many pornographers) permits Brett Kimberlin to deny responsibility for smears against his estranged wife. His online presence, which we can call “Team Kimberlin,” employs distracting psy-ops tactics to transfer agency, to falsely portray Kimberlin as a victim, creating confusion about the sequence and causality of events. Team Kimberlin is now claiming that bloggers John Hoge and Aaron Walker have caused events which in fact they have merely reported.

A notorious criminal, Brett Kimberlin is now terrorizing his estranged wife and her boyfriend. Brett Kimberlin in 2007 made his family the subject of an 800-word feature article in the Washington Post.

“‘Happy Springtime (Bush Is Over)’ is more than five minutes of John ‘n’ Yoko footage, of birds fluttering past a billboard reading ‘Imagine Peace’ and of beautiful children singing . . . A credit at the end leads viewers to Justice Through Music, a civic engagement nonprofit run by Kelsie’s father. . . .
“The credit for ‘Springtime’ goes to Kelsie’s dad, musician-activist Brett Kimberlin. . . .
“‘All of the kids in the choir are very liberal,’ says Brett Kimberlin. ‘They wouldn’t do this if they weren’t in the cause.’
“Kelsie agrees. ‘I don’t like Bush because he sends people to be killed,’ she says.”
– Monica Hesse, “A Little Surprise For the Prize-Giver,” Washington Post, Nov. 8, 2007

Such enthusiastic publicity may help explain why, for example, Kimberlin’s 501(c)3 tax-exempt Justice Through Music Project received $5,000 from the Barbra Streisand Foundation in 2008, its best fundraising year ever, when total contributions to JTMP were reported to the IRS as $558,543 — for “social justice,” you know.

Now that his wife has left him, however, Brett Kimberlin thinks that Tetyana and Jay Elliott’s claims of harassment are not newsworthy and — surprise, surprise! — reporter Monica Hesse and her editors at the Washington Post seem to agree, because they haven’t published a word about these disturbing developments in the career of the convicted felon they so enthusiastically celebrated in 2007.

Evil is what Brett Kimberlin is. Evil is what Brett Kimberlin does. Everyone who assists Brett Kimberlin is an accomplice to evil, and silence about Brett Kimberlin’s evil is a form of assistance.

“‘He told me if I will try to take my kids with me he will hurt me and I will see what will happen to me,’ Kimberlin’s Russian-born wife wrote in her petition for a protection order, a case that was heard [July 9] in Silver Spring, Maryland. ‘He tells my 14-year-old about his plans about me and what he is going to do with me.’
“Kimberlin has ‘been calling me terrible names … telling my children that I am mentally ill,’ his wife wrote . . .”
– “Progressive Activist Brett Kimberlin ‘Abusive … Threatening,’ Wife Claims”

What might have happened if Monica Hesse or anyone else at The Washington Post had ever told the truth about Brett Kimberlin?

One week ago, I called them out for their deliberate lies:

Brett Kimberlin: The ‘Musician-Activist’
That @MonicaHesse Wants You to Forget

Checking the archives a week later: NOTHING.

Because Monica Hesse and the Washington Post are active and willing agents of Brett Kimberlin’s evil.

By her deliberate and shameless silence, Monica Hesse is now assisting Brett Kimberlin’s harassment of his estranged wife Tetyana.

Brett Kimberlin, despite being forbidden from testifying in Maryland, was able to present testimony of his own. . . . [H]e made ugly, unsubstantiated and ultimately irrelevant allegations about them both . . . As he was defaming this man and the mother of his children, the judge actually cut him off, saying, “I don’t care about that.” . . .
[O]f particular interest is his bizarre accusation that Elliott was a Mormon who planned to make Ms. Kimberlin part of his polygamous harem . . .
He also had the nerve to call Elliott a “predator.” This from a guy who once called a ten year old girl his “girlfriend.” But this is typical of Brett Kimberlin: accuse the accusers of doing what you actually did.

That’s from Aaron Worthing’s account of Tuesday’s hearing, and you could also read John Hoge’s brief account of Tuesday’s hearing, but you cannot read a Washington Post account of Tuesday’s hearing. But this omission does not surprise any honest person.

The Washington Post is a disgrace to journalism that employs hired liars like Monica Hesse. The Washington Post and Monica Hesse are engaged in a conspiracy to conceal the truth about Brett Kimberlin.

In 2007, Monica Hesse did not tell the truth about Brett Kimberlin, and in 2013, she will not tell the truth about Brett Kimberlin.

The truth about Brett Kimberlin has never been printed in the Washington Post, nor will it ever be. No honest person would work for the Washington Post, which only publishes evil lies.

… Sex Offenders for Martin O ‘ Malley …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,July 9th,2013

[h/t — the other mccain]

.. What kind of “counseling” would Markle — convicted of federal child pornography charges in 2005 – give to “children and adolescents”?

.. To sum things up, Scott Markle and his wife Corynne Courpas are long-time Democratic party activists in Carroll County. They’ve attended five national conventions together and both served on the county central committee. Markle has also served multiple terms as an officer of the county’s Democratic Club. They’ve both donated to Democratic candidates for the past few cycles, including Martin O’Malley.

.. Markle’s enthusiasm for dirty pictures of kids apparently wasn’t cured by his previous conviction, so it looks like he’ll be going back to the place where Maryland Democrats belong: Federal prison.

… Outrageous !! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,October 12th,2012

… What is happening to Angela McCaskill is waaaay beyond the pale . She is currently the Chief Diversity Officer at Gallaudet University in our Nation ‘  s capital . Gallaudet is one of our nation ‘  s premier colleges for those students who are deaf or are hearing disabled . This sets the table …

… She is an extraordinarily accomplished woman , one who happens to be black . She is also a resident of Maryland . She is a veteran of more than 20 years of service at Gallaudet , and was , as mentioned , named its Chief Diversity Officer …

… However , she has now been placed on leave . Why ? She signed a petion in the state of Maryland to bring to a vote the question of the legitimization of gay marriage . A recently passed law in Maryland has been put on hold , pending the results of the referendum …

… The left has been a crusade against blacklists , especially the Hollywood blacklists of the 1940s and the 1950s . And now , they feel , it is a legit act to politically crucify McCaskill for exercising her civil rights ? …

… Not only her , but everyone else who signed those petitions . These people are looking to the future , trying to stop conservatives from bringing forth other issues for petitions or iniatiatives . Maybe they should also look back , as well as forward . The shoe may be on the other foot , soon enough . And ,  an old quote comes to light …

… Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it ! …
