… She Blows It Out of The Water [Senate Testimony]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,November 3rd,2015

.. heather McDonald is a wizard of academics . She is a long – time scholar at the Manhattan Institute . Anytime that she agrees to testify before a body , that body should watch out . She will give it all that she has , and then some , before that body ..

.. On this occasion , she was testifying before the US Senate Judiciary committee . The subject of the hearing was this ” so – called ” criminal justice reform . The subject seems to be all of the rage these days …

.. Except Heather did her homework . She is an expert academic , and prepared her butt off for her testimony before the committee …

.. she nailed it . The increase in the prison population over the last 25 years has not been , as it has appeared to be , due to drug offenders . Well , then ? What did cause it ? Violent crime , of course . It always does , and McDonald nailed it right on the head . ..

.. this testimony should help to greatly slow down , orperhaps , even stop , the momentum towards this ” so – called ” criminal justice reform . What it is is a sof on criminals and soft – on – crime approach to police and policing

… If Loretta Lynch has lost John McCain [#AG nomination]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,March 28th,2015

.. then the effort to confirm her is indeed in deep trouble .

.. the GOP now controls the US Senate . The DemoCraps do not . The DummyCraps can stammer , huff , puff , and try to blow a house down all that they want , but as long as the majority holds firm , Lynch ‘ s nomination will not receive a vote . At the very least , not anytime soon ..

.. [h/t — HotAir.com]..
.. [link] to the blog post …

.. right now , the nomination is in real trouble . US Sen John McCain [R-Az] has come out openly against her nomination . Much more so is why he did . He has stated specifically that her position on POTUS ‘ so – called Executive Action on Immigration [which came out during questioning for her confirmation hearings] is what made him come out so openly against her …

.. She will not get a vote anytime soon . A good number of committee chairmen are against her . I suspect most of the Senate leadership has decided to vote her nomination down . But the Majority Leader ? That I am not sure of , yet . if he decides to oppose her , then her nomination is effectively dead , no matter how much His Lordship and the Senate DemoCraps protest …

… Obama is Going to Reach a Point on ObamaCrapCare …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,September 13th,2013

.. the way that things are going , the idiots in the ObamaCrap Administration are going to reach a point of No Return : they are going to be forced to admit that what they have created will not work .

.. The unions are complaining like hell . The AFL – CIO is realizing that the blowback on the insurance plans is going to hit their members , more than anyone else . Also , the “Cadillac Tax” on the higher – end plans is chiefly going to hit them . The influence that these loons have with the ObamaCraps have is considerable . Whether it will convince the ObamaCrap Administration to go back to the start things all over again is something else .

.. The ObamaCraps do not want to reopen ObamaCrapCare . First , it would be an enormous defeat , one of unimaginable magnitude . They do not control the House , the GOP does , and the concession on OCC would have conservatives in general , and the Tea Party , in particular , licking their chops . Secondly , it would likely lead to the loss of the Senate in 2014 . Many Senators up in that fall ‘ s elections have yes votes on OCC on their records . They also reside in “Red States,” ones in which either John McCain or Mitt Romney (or both) carried their states . The lack of a filibuster – proof majority in the Senate means that the Senate GOP is in the ballgame . A good number of them are likely in position to get even for being “run over” by the DemoCraps during the original OCC debate . Others are new or newer , such as Mike Lee (Ut) , Tim Scott (SC) , and Ted Cruz(Tx) , who are either Tea Party supported , or are Tea Partiers themselves .

.. The GOP would demand a high price for any renegotiation . One point is that the use of H.S.A.s would have to be greatly liberalized . H.S.A.s would put consumers back in the ballgame in terms of economics , and their participation would be anthema to the ObamaCraps . Another point would be medical malpractice tort – reform . The strength of the plaintiff ‘ s bar prevented any action to go after any semblance of tort reform in the original debate . Obama would act as a brake , but the GOP would act to force the plaintiff ‘ s bar to come to the table . There are other items , but these would be the best places to start .

.. The market in health insurance has to be able to work . OCC almost totally prevents it from working . The idiots in Congress have a habit of forgeting that when they pass legislation that there are unintended consequences of the changes that their legislation will make in the law . Some can be foreseen , will the resort to simple logic and foresight . Others cannot , and have to dealt with as best is possible .

… It is about time …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,April 7th,2013

… It would be about time …

.. I did some reviewing , and came across the Mccain – Feingold bill . Russ Feingold is , thankfully , no longer in the US Senate , but John McCain , thankfully , still is a sitting senator ..

.. the problem is , though , this disgusting creation . It attacks the freedom of speech of candidates and individuals , and makes it far more difficult for political parties to try to control their message , and attempt to  control their candidates . At least , with soft money , and parties ‘ more effective control of it , the candidates just might be forced to be more effective team players . I agree with [Jen Rubin], and that the McCain – Feingold campaign finance act should be repealed ..

… it is a Barforama …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,October 10th,2012

Official photo of John McCain.

… hey , but keep it coming , folks …

… you could have expected some of this already . Mitch McConnell ‘ s victory in his Supreme Court case a number of years ago helped take some of the teeth out of McCain – Feingold , but the Citizens United decision in January of 2010 basically took most , but not all ,  of the rest of them out of it …

… the Super Pacs are doing a dandy job of driving us all nuts . I thought that , for me , 2009 was rough . Ohio had a campaign to legalize casino gambling (which won) , and the two sides spent about $35 million each . Ouch ! And i thought that campaign was obnoxious . Well , that one was a piker , in comparison to this one . the Obama and Romney campaigns are on track to raise about $1 billion each . Wow ! …

… Well , it is ” Everybody and their Sister Sue” time on the campaign trail . All sorts of candidates are advertising now on the t.v.s and radios here in Northeast Ohio , and it is only October 9 . It is only going to  get worse . Much worse . and they have every constitutional and First Amendment right to do it …
