… POTUS , Now You Know You have a Problem …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,September 18th,2013

.. when two former secretaries of Defence haul off and blast you for your “red line ” actions and your strategy in Syria .

.. Gates ‘ commentary I can understand . Robert Gates was a holdover from George W. Bush ‘ s administration , and I strongly suspect , is a closet conservative Republican . One of his best quotes was when dealing with the fallout from the takedown of Osama bin Laden . He was asked by then National Security Adviser Thomas Donilon on what to do about all of the problems with the leaks about national security – related information .

.. Gates ‘ simple solution — “Shut the [f-bomb] up.” Simple and to the point .

.. Now , Leon Panetta , that is something . Panetta is no Republican . He was a long – time Congresscritter , and a Chairman of the House Budget Committee . He was also a former White House Chief of Staff [under Wilhelm der Fibmeister] , and was also C.I.A. director under Obama . So , he is no conservative at all . Yet he blasted POTUS as well . Nice .

.. and what is she not doing ?!?!

.. it is abundantly clear that the Bashaar Assad regime in Syria has made use of chemical weapons in its civil war . POTUS had , at a time , set forth some sort of “red line” that the use of chemical weapons would be a “game changer . ” Well , guess what happened ?

.. You got it . Nothing . Absolutely Nothing . Also , our new U.N. Ambassador , Samantha Power , was AWOL from an urgent U.N. Security Council meeting . Not that anything of consequence would have happened . There would not have been a damn thing . Not with the Russkies and the Chinese running blocker for the bad guys of the world at the U.N. . Especially with a wus in the White House .

.. Yes , a Wus in the White House . That is exactly what we have for a POTUS . At least with George W. Bush , you knew where you stood on the international stage . We were respected , and our word was good . With Barack Obama , we look weak , feckless , indecisive , and leaderless … even if you-know-who understood the meaning of the damn word .

… the ObamaCraps could Not be This Stupid …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,August 21st,2013

.. courtesy of an article that I read on Newsmax

.. POTUS and his fellow ObamaCraps actually considered downgrading relations with the Vatican (technically , with the Holy See) . Not for constitutional reasons . That is something I could understand , although being a Catholic , I would still hate it . It was for policy reasons .

.. It seems that the ObamaCraps had a devil of a time finding a new Ambassador to the Vatican . Their first one had resigned , and

Vatican City

Vatican City (Photo credit: @Doug88888)

they could not find a new one . They did not (obviously) want to make the move before the 2012 election . However , they did want to make the move . Incredible .

.. It seems that their radical social policy agenda got in the way . The way that they were harassing and intimidating Catholic parishes and institutions here in the U.S. was obviously not winning friends and influencing people in the Curia . Encouraging policies that smacked of liberation theology did not help , either .

… from …

During the past year, the Obama administration strongly  considered ending diplomatic relations with the Vatican as it pondered whether  it should appoint a new envoy to the Holy See, Newsmax has learned.

The  recent Obama nomination and Senate confirmation  on August 1 of Ken Hackett as the new U.S. Ambassador has ended internal Obama  administration debate on the matter.

“I have heard the rumors and I believe them to be true,” Jim Nicholson,  former U.S Ambassador to the Vatican under President George W. Bush, told  Newsmax. “It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the Obama White House  seriously discussed downgrading U.S. diplomatic relations with the Holy See,  given the devalued view they clearly hold this relationship in.”

“This administration does not want a strong Catholic Church, nor a strong  relationship with it, as it sees the Church as an obstacle to its liberal social  agenda,”  Nicholson said.

The Obama administration has been in conflict with the Roman Catholic Church  on a host of issues ranging from Obamacare’s contraceptive requirements for  Catholic hospitals to the administration’s strong stance in favor of abortion  rights.

After Obama’s first ambassador, Miguel Diaz, resigned last year,  President Barack Obama had difficulty identifying a nominee who would represent  his administration, but at the same time would be acceptable to the Holy See,  according to one source familiar with the selection.

Faced with finding  such a candidate, the Obama administration considered closing its Vatican  offices, and opening offices in the U.S.’s Rome embassy for a smaller office to  deal with Catholic matters.

In the end, the Obama administration moved to  select Hackett, whose choice has won strong applause from Catholic leaders of  all political stripes.
Hackett is the retired president of Catholic  Relief Services (CRS), one of the Church’s largest social  welfare organizations supported by the U.S. Catholic bishops. Hackett, a  graduate of Boston College, also served in the Peace Corps.
“I think Ken  Hackett is an excellent choice,” Thomas P. Melady, who was Ambassador to the  Holy See under President George H.W. Bush, told Newsmax.
Melady, who is  also a past president of Sacred Heart College in Connecticut, noted that prior  to assuming the presidency of CRS in 1993, Hackett began his career  with the group in Africa and oversaw its operations in East Africa during the  Somali crisis in the late 1980s.
“The Holy See needs a good person and  they’ve got one,” Francis Rooney, George W. Bush’s envoy to the Vatican, told  the Catholic Standard, saying Hackett “is tremendously qualified to do the job,  given his background with Catholic Relief Services.”
Along with what he  called “an excellent record” at CRS, Melady said that the nominee “knows the  hierarchy at the Vatican well from his years [at CRS] and that is very  important.”
Since the U.S. extended full diplomatic recognition to the  Holy See under President Ronald Reagan, U.S. ambassadors to the Vatican have  always been practicing Catholics who accept the teachings of their church — even  when they conflict with those of the administration in the White House.
Melady pointed out that the two ambassadors to the Vatican under Democratic  President Bill Clinton — former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn and Rep. Lindy Boggs of  Louisiana — were both strong abortion opponents and took stands that differed  strongly with the stated policy of their party and Clinton himself.
The  same was true of Diaz, President Obama’s ambassador throughout his first term.
Because more than six months went from the time of Diaz’s resignation  and the naming of Hackett to succeed him, there were mounting rumors that the  administration was having difficulty recruiting someone to represent it at the  Holy See.
“As far as I know, while there was talk of many choices to be  ambassador, there were no formal offers made before the White House went to Ken  Hackett,” Melady said

… It says something about Our Country these days …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,August 19th,2013

.. when a rodeo clown is the funniest and most mature political figure in the news these days . Well , with the DemoCraps , what did you expect ??

.. Waaaaaaah ! Waaaaaaaaah ! when you-know-who is criticized . What a bunch of crybabies . What goes around , comes around . Get a thicker skin , and grow a ” pair . ”

… courtesy of Legal Insurrection .com …
History started with Obama: Crowd taunts and mocks President, what have we become America?

There is full blown Democratic furor over Tuffy the Rodeo Clown. The incident is being portrayed as racially motivated, and the

... ha!ha!ha!ha! ...

… ha!ha!ha!ha! …

repurcussions have been severe.

Tuffy (Facebook support page here) has been fired and banned for life from the Missouri State Fair, the announcer has resigned, the rodeo association is requiring sensitivity training, and politicians like Claire McCaskill are trying to cash in politically.

A little history is in order. The vitriol and mockery unleashed at George W. Bush is well documented, and George H.W. Bush received precisely the same rodeo treatment (even down to the broom up the rear end).

Hell, when G.W.B. was President even secession talk was cool, just ask Lawrence O’Donnell.

From the archives.

Presidential disrespect went around and now comes around:

What does it say about America in 2013 that a Rodeo Clown is more politically mature than the prevailing political and media establishments? Via NPR:

Tuffy Gessling, the rodeo clown at the center of the controversy over the skit at the Missouri State Fair in which a man wearing a President Obama mask was mocked, says “nothing racist was ever implied.”

“Comedians all over the country have used political figures to make fun of current events, it’s nothing new,” Gessling has told digitalBURG, a student-run news service from the University of Central Missouri. “I never tried to be a racist or anything like that. I love all people no matter their background. I live to make people laugh. When TV comedians are doing it every day, Rush Limbaugh is doing it every day, people on Facebook are doing it every day 10 times more than me. I was just trying to make light of the situation, that’s it.”

… in Defense of the Missouri Rodeo Clown [yea , that one] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,August 19th,2013

..The Missouri State Fair has banned for life a rodeo clown who wore a Barack Obama mask during a bull-riding competition and suggested that “Obama” might be run down by an angry bull. “Hey, I know I’m a clown,” the still-unidentified performer said. “He [Obama] is just running around acting like one. Doesn’t know he is one.” Many in the audience were amused; at least some were offended. The event was captured on home video, which quickly made the rounds of news reports.

.. In a press release Monday, the State Fair said, “the statements and actions Saturday night were inappropriate and not in

English: Barack Obama delivers a speech at the...

… Barack Obama , the clown …(Photo credit: Wikipedia)

keeping with the Fair’s standards. The Missouri State Fair apologizes for the unconscionable stunt.” The organization said it had decided “to permanently ban this rodeo clown from ever participating or performing at the Missouri State Fair again.”

..The controversy over the incident seemed to have two parts. One was outrage in some quarters over the obvious disrespect and ridicule directed at the president. The other was outrage over the suggestion of violence toward Obama — in the form of an encounter with the bull — that was the premise of the act. This is the most complete video of the incident available; you can watch it to judge for yourself.

.. The lifetime ban for the clown is ridiculous .  Any president comes in for a fair amount of mockery, and what happened at the State Fair does not seem worse than the mockery of the president that occurred — without consequences like lifetime bans — during George W. Bush’s years in the White House . It is hardly necessary to recite all the insults, threats, and other offenses directed at Bush during his presidency; if you were awake during those years, you know there were a lot of them .

.. But perhaps it would be useful to list a few, and ask whether they resulted in punishment and professional exile for those involved. As far as disrespect and ridicule are concerned, in 2007, TV newswoman Erin Burnett, who then worked for MSNBC, repeatedly referred to Bush as a “monkey” during a report on an economic summit. Burnett, who later apologized, was not banned from television; she is now a prime-time anchor on CNN. Burnett was not alone; depictions of Bush as a chimpanzee, in particular, were common on the Internet during those years.

.. And not unheard of on television. In October 2009, after Bush left office HBO’s Bill Maher said on his program “Real Time,” that, “Barack Obama, an actual college professor, replaced George Bush, an actual chimp.” Maher was not banned from HBO; he is still the host of the program.

.. As far as the use of violent imagery and the president is concerned  , George W. Bush ‘ s years saw imagery much more serious than that for a bump from a bull. For example, the 2006 film “Death of a President” was a faux-documentary that told the story of a fictional Bush assassination, including a graphic depiction of the Bush character being shot in the chest. After its premiere at the Toronto film festival, where it won the International Critics Prize, “Death of a President” was handled by a major American distributor, Newmarket Films, and was reviewed, seriously and on its own terms, by the Washington Post, New York Times and other major press outlets. The film’s makers were not banned for life from the movie industry or anything else .

.. In June of 2006, Alan Hevesi, then the comptroller of the state of New York, delivered a college commencement address in which he paid tribute to Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer by calling him “the man who, how do I phrase this diplomatically, who will put a bullet between the president’s eyes if he could get away with it.” Hevesi later apologized, explaining that he merely intended to praise Schumer’s courage and toughness. Hevesi was not banned from office; he was, in fact, re-elected as comptroller later in 2006. (He didn’t stay much longer, resigning when he was indicted on corruption charges.)

..It’s just to ask: Why should the Missouri rodeo clown be banned for life? Couldn’t his employers have demanded an apology instead? Could the employers be banned , instead ??

… Julian Bond is Outrageous ! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,May 16th,2013

.. Julian Bond is a long – time figure in black politics in our country . He is , or , more specifically , was the national chairman of the N.A.A.L.C.P. .

.. Julian Bond has long been a historical figure in our body politic . However , he has more recently been getting away with things that no politician could or should do , or even think of doing .

.. Recently , on PMSNBC , Bond made grossly out – of – line accusations about the Tea Party organizations in general , and its participants in particular .

[-] Accusations of racism … hardly accurate … the Tea Party was strongly religious

and decent , and was extraordinarily strong in its self – discipline . Its speeches and

its actions were hardly racist .

[-] being the Taliban wing of American Politics … enough said .

[-] use of sexist and homophobic speeches and signs … see above . Much of the Tea

Party movement is very religious and traditionalist , and would not act in a sexist or

homophobic way , or use such speech , such as it would normally be defined .

.. Former NAACP chairman Julian Bond is perfectly fine with government coming down unfairly on people he hates. “Hates,” by the way, is not too strong a word. On MSNBC today , Bond dubbed the Tea Party the “Taliban wing of American politics” while opining that it’s fine with him if the IRS targets them while his group keeps its tax exempt status .

.. “I don’t think there’s a double standard at all , ” Bond said . “ I think it is entirely legitimate to look at the tea party . ” “I mean, here are a group of people who are admittedly racist, who are overtly political, who tried as best they can to harm President [Barack] Obama in every way they can,” Bond continued.

“They are the Taliban wing of American politics and we all ought to be a little worried about them , ” Bond asserted .

When asked if his assessment of the Tea Party was “a little harsh,” Bond said that it was not. “The truth hurts,” Bond insisted.

.. Bond here has launched one of those “ When did you stop beating your wife ? ”  attacks, to which there is no good response to a false allegation. It ’ s fundamentally unfair and grossly dishonest.

.. The NAACP went waaay over the line and accused then Gov. George W. Bush of being complicit in a black man’s murder. Under Bush, Texas convicted and eventually executed one of the men responsible for that crime. What more could he have done? No one from the NAACP has the right to call anyone else “overtly political” or accuse anyone of racism. George W. Bush’s chief sins in the Byrd murder were being white and being a Republican.

.. Julian Bond proves that at least some liberals do not believe conservatives deserve fair treatment under the law. He believes the law should be used as a weapon against them . Given what the NAACP is supposed to stand for , Bond ’ s stand is horribly ironic .  Hypocritcal . Racist . And dangerous .

… Why Obama ‘ s Second Term is a Bomb ! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,May 11th,2013

[-] same old , same old political script , ready for the veiled counterpunch .

English: Barack Obama Deutsch: Barack Obama

… who do you think it is ?!?! …

[-] same old , same old message — get a jump , and go over on to the attack .
[-] the great American fib – a – thon on the Sequester .
[-] Obama wound up ratifying all but a sliver of the Bush tax cuts.
[-] Operation Punish the Public blew up in his face
[-] the Democrats are realizing that his attraction is not lasting for the Democratic Party , and will have massive damage with voting blocks , over time .
[-] You-know-who lost on gun control.
[-] His national-security flops on Benghazi, North Korea, Syria and more still
plague him while his secretary of defense is uninspiring and his secretary of
state is gaffe-prone. Obama gave lovely speeches after the Boston bombing, but
scrutiny is now being focused on potential lapses by the FBI and/or CIA.
[-] The economy remains anemic .
[-] Max Baucus has a big mouth
[-] A large group of Senate Democrats have announced retirement , rather than
face the music in 2014.
[-] His presidency has helped induce a wave of George W. Bush nostalgia . and There
is a long, long way to go before Obama leaves office.

… After the Fact , yes …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,April 25th,2013

… After the Fact , Yes … [before — hell , no !!]

.. We really need to do a much better job of counterintelligence . What we have now is

neutered , and is severely limited . What we should have ? Good Question ! A Domestic Intelligence agency ? Perhaps , but , not likely , as of yet . better law

enforcement ? Definitely ! Beyond that , it is open to question .

.. One who knows this subject well is Cal – Berkeley law professor John Yoo . Professor Yoo served in George W. Bush ‘ s Department of Justice , at a very senior level , and was one of the primary authors of the U.S. policy towards treatment and detention of detainees captured on the battlefield of the War on Terror . The New Admin full of wusses does not change that fact .

.. quoting Professor Yoo , ” A law enforcement approach to terrorism ? ”

.. ” How is this a victory for traditional law enforcement? Two young brothers, lightly armed, killed several innocent civilians, wounded 170, killed an officer and wounded another, and shut down one of America’s great cities. We had a whole city trapped in its homes and paramilitary forces in its streets. Law enforcement alone means the nation lies vulnerable to attacks on soft targets and must expend enormous resources to catch the killers afterwards .”

.. A pre-emptive strategy based on intelligence and the use of force overseas seeks to prevent such attacks further from our shores. That option should be preferred by everyone compared to what we’ve seen in Boston these last five days.

Ted Cruz

U S Sen Ted Cruz [R-Tx]

… I am going to post (thanks to Wikipedia) from the bio on U. S. Senator Ted Cruz [R-Tx] . You will notice towards the end …

Rafael Edward “Ted” Cruz (born December 22, 1970) is an American politician and the junior United States Senator for the state of Texas, in office since 2013. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Cruz was Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 to May 2008, appointed by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. He was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the United States, and had the longest tenure in Texas history. He was formerly a partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he led the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national appellate litigation practice.[2]

He previously served as the director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, and as Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign. In addition, from 2004 to 2009 Cruz was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.

Cruz was the Republican nominee for the Senate seat which was vacated by fellow Republican, Kay Bailey Hutchison.[3] On July 31, 2012, he defeated Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst in the Republican primary runoff, 57–43 percent.[4] Cruz defeated the Democrat Paul Sadler in the general election held on November 6, 2012; he prevailed with 56–41 percent over Sadler.[4] Cruz is endorsed by the Tea Party Movement and the Republican Liberty Caucus.[5]

Early life and education

Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where his parents, Eleanor Darragh and Rafael Cruz, were working in the oil business.[7][8] His father was a Cuban immigrant to the United States during the Cuban Revolution.[9] His mother was reared in Delaware, in a family of Irish and Italian descent.[8][10] Cruz’s family returned to the U.S. when he was four years old.[9]

… You will notice Ted Cruz is a US Citizen by birth , dummies . He is the son of a naturalized American father , and an American mother . Yes , he was born in Canada (which gives him Canadian citizenship , as well , I believe) , but his situation is similar to that of  any other American born overseas in a foreign nation (such as the dependent born to an American serviceman or servicewoman) , like Sen John McCain , or retired wide receiver (and future Hall of Famer) Hines Ward .
