Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,April 2nd,2014

.. Bruce Braley is a congresscritter from Iowa . He is also a U.S. Senate candidate , running for the open seat that is being left open by the retirement by the departure of Thomas Harkin , a Democrap . He is trying to win the DemoCrap nomination and then the election …

.. Braley is also a lawyer , which normally in Washington , D. C. is an asset . Right now , after his foot – in – mouth stunt , it is not so muc . Basically , Braley attacked farmers in general , and his state ‘ s senior Senator , Charles Grasseley , in particular . In a campaign , to piss off a possible fellow senator is not such a great idea .

.. Braley teed off , attacking farmers , and praising lawyers . Really dumb movve , especially in Iowa . Agriculture is Iowa ‘ s biggest industry , and the state is chock full of farmers , especially ones that vote . They generally do not like lawyers all that much , either …

… This is Madness [propping up the Delta Smelt] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,March 3rd,2014

.. the ecosocialists are at it again .

.. Why ?

.. In 2008 , a faulty study forced the diversion of massive amounts of water from California ‘ s Central Valley . This area is better known to virtually all of us as the San Joaquin Valley . It is the state ‘ s agricultural heartland , taking care of millions economically ….

.. and because of a faulty study , regarding a 3 ” fish ?

.. The diversion is essence involves the massive diversion of water from the valley to the Sacramento River . Then , it goes to waste , going out to sea in the Pacific Ocean , via the San Francisco Bay ..

.. and tens of millions of acre – feet of arable and irrigatable land go to dust , lying fallow . It is also in the middle of the heart of the GOP part of the state . If California were to split , into 2 pieces or more , this area would be rich GOP turf …

.. some facts on the issue :

More… Here are the facts on California’s Central Valley, via the Natural Resources Committee:

** California’s water storage and transportation system designed by federal and state governments includes 1,200 miles of canals and nearly 50 reservoirs that provide water to about 22 million people and irrigate about four million acres of land throughout the state.

** In May 2007, a Federal District Court Judge ruled that increased amounts of water had to be re-allocated towards protecting the Delta smelt – a three-inch fish on the Endangered Species List.

** Because of this ruling, in 2009 and 2010 more than 300 billion gallons (or 1 million acre-feet) of water were diverted away from farmers in the Central Valley and into the San Francisco Bay – eventually going out into the Pacific Ocean.

** This man-made drought cost thousands of farm workers their jobs, inflicted up to 40 percent unemployment in certain communities, and fallowed hundreds of thousands of acres of fertile farmland.

** Unemployment remains at a regional average of 17%. With current precipitation at near-record lows, the same regulations will be imposed pushing unemployment even higher.

** The Pelosi-led Congress did nothing to reverse the plight of the San Joaquin Valley and even obstructed repeated Republican actions to reverse the situation. The Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Water Reliability Act reflects Republican promises to avoid another man-made drought.
