… Nice Going , Genius [Aid to Egypt] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,October 22nd,2013

… cutting off aid to Egypt is a really bad idea .

.. Egypt is a key piece in the Middle East puzzle . They are the largest of the Arab nations , at nearly 80 million people . Like many other Arab nations , they are a homogenous people . They are host to the centuries – old Coptic Christian church , which numbers nearly 12 million adherents . For centuries , these peoples have lived more or less in peace and harmony . Sometimes , things have been a bit touch , to say the least . In general , the majority Muslim population has been very protective of the Copts . That is , until now .

.. The big problem is the Muslim Brotherhood . Of all the nations that have the MB within their midst , blame Egypt for the Brotherhood coming into being . Ironically , Al Quadea represents the co – opting , in part , of the Brotherhood . Guess why ?

… Ayman al – Zawahiri , that is why . He is Egyptian by birth , but he has , for the most part , turned his back on the country of his birth . It represented a strategic backwater in the Middle East , at least to him . A very bad mistake . With the military liberating  Egypt from the “creeping Islamization” by the Morsi – led government , Zawahiri may well find both common cause with the Brotherhood , and what he would see as the needs of his homeland .

Inquiry & Analysis Series Report No. 1016

In Egypt, Public Campaign Against Obama, U.S.; Calls For Intensified Cooperation With Russia, China

By: L. Lavi and N. Shamni*

Since Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi’s removal from power, the Egyptian public and media – both pro- and anti-Mursi – have been fiercely attacking the U.S.[1] This trend is part of continually escalating anti-U.S. and, more specifically, anti-President Obama attacks on the part of supporters of Egyptian Defense Minister Al-Sisi, who deposed Mursi. Apparently, the reasons for this include: President Obama’s condemnation of the violent August 14 dispersal of the Mursi supporters’ weeks-long sit-ins at Raba’a Al-Adawiya and Al-Nahda Square; the U.S.’s July 24 cancellation of its delivery to Egypt of four F-16 aircraft; the U.S.’s August 15 cancellation of the joint U.S.-Egypt military exercise, scheduled for this month; and discussions in the U.S. about the possibility that it would halt its aid to Egypt – measures that were perceived both by the pro-Al-Sisi camp and by opponents of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) as expressions of American support for the MB.
Al-Sisi’s anti-U.S. onslaught has taken the form of declarations by senior Egyptian government officials, articles in newspapers identified with the regime and the army, and political and popular campaigns in social media and on the street. One prominent example of this was Al-Sisi’s direct appeal to the American administration in his August 3 interview with The Washington Post, where he stated: ‘You left the Egyptians. You turned your back on the Egyptians, and they won’t forget that…'[2] Another example is Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem Al-Beblawi’s reminder, in an interview with the ABC network, that Egypt had received military aid from Russia for decades,[3]and his insistence that the Egyptian army would survive the cessation of American aid to Egypt, and that, if this caused any damage, the damage would last for a limited time only.[4]
The Egyptian pro-regime and -army press published articles notable in their vilification of President Obama himself – insulting his mother, calling him mentally deficient and his administration “the Adolf Obama Reich,” and even going so far as to offer a prayer that he would die in agony. Many articles contended that Obama and his administration supported terror by virtue of their support for the MB; columnists also opposed U.S. intervention in Egypt’s internal affairs, and, in response to American threats to cut off aid, argued that Egypt was better off without it.
At the same time, political and popular campaigns against continued U.S. aid to Egypt were launched, with the leading campaign organized by the Tamarrud and April 6 movements; these movements had played a major role in the protests that led to Mursi’s ouster. Another campaign called for the regime to reject American aid so as to maintain Egypt’s independence and to protect it from foreign interference.
Furthermore, many articles dealt with the decline of American influence in the Middle East, particularly in Egypt, in Russia’s favor; they called for inviting President Vladimir Putin to Cairo, with a lavish reception held in his honor. Billboards with Putin’s photo, captioned “Bye-bye America” were even put up at a pro-Al-Sisi demonstration in Alexandria.
This report will review some of the many articles in the pro-Egyptian regime and pro-Egyptian army press condemning the U.S., and will also review the campaigns against U.S. aid to Egypt.
Anti-American Articles In The Pro-Regime And Pro-Army Egyptian Press
Obama Supports The MB In Egypt, Which Is The Source Of Global Terror
Many articles accused Obama of allying with the MB, which they claim is a radical terror movement.
Obama, Friend Of The MB – Which Is The Source Of All Terror Organizations In The World
In an article titled “The MB and Obama’s Filthy Alliance [With It] Against the Egyptian People,” Egyptian writer ‘Abd Al-Fatah ‘Abd Al-Mun’im wrote: “Does the American administration and its president, Mr. Obama, an enemy of the Egyptian people and a friend of the MB, know that the Al-Qaeda organization and all the terrorist organizations that kill and slaughter American soldiers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and everyplace else in the world, [trace their] origins, roots and first affiliation to the MB movement… [?] Without the radicalism of the MB’s ideology, these terror organizations, by which the American people have been burned, would never have emerged.
“Nevertheless, Obama sees no problem in defending the Egyptian MB, claiming that the elections that brought the failed and ousted president Muhammad Mursi to power were legitimate… The MB staged a political takeover in Egypt with the assistance of America, which believed that if it encouraged the MB [in its attaining power], Israel’s safeguarding would be assured.
“Due to the Americans’ absolute support for the Muhammad Mursi regime, he and his movement committed many sins against the Egyptian people, starting with Mursi’s attempt to subject the country to MB control… to his selling Egypt to [foreign interests[5]] and ending with more crimes, no condemnation of which have we ever heard from Obama and his allies like Turkey, France and England…”[6]

Obama: “I don’t belong to the MB, but I support the MB.” Ahram-canada.com, July 6, 2013
Obama Offers Up Egypt As A Sacrifice To The MB God Of Terrorism
Egyptian journalist Wael Al-Samari went so far as to claim that Obama is treating the MB like a deity to whom he must offer sacrifices – and his sacrificial victims are the Egyptians and their homeland. He wrote in his column in the Al-Yawm Al-Sabi’ daily: “The events of September 11 made the Americans, and first and foremost Obama, imagine a god of global terror [the MB] whose desire they must satisfy and whose blessing they must obtain with aid, funds, counsel, and global political backing. It must do so in order to avoid a repeat of September 11, which changed the global balance of power.
“Thus, the most advanced country in the world became the most primitive; in fact, there is [only] one difference between what primitive man once did and what Obama is now doing: Primitive man offered up sacrifices from his [own] harvest or the efforts of his own hunt – while Obama is offering us, our country, and our history to terrorists, on a silver platter…
“[Thus], instead of confronting and challenging the terror idols, [Obama] looks like a caveman shivering [in fear] in the face of wild animals and the forces of nature. This confirms that the U.S. has no culture or civilization, and that its technological and scientific veneer melts away as soon as it faces a genuine threat…”[7]

Standing on “Middle East” soil, U.S. feeds victims to the crocodile of “terror.” Al-Ahram Al-Arabi (Egypt), August 13, 2013
Vilification Of Obama
Some of the articles were notable for their particularly blunt and harsh anti-Obama sentiment, to the point of calling him “Adolf Obama,” expressing wishes for his death, and cursing him and his family.
“Ayatollah Obama,” “Adolf Obama” Is Partner To The Muslim Brotherhood’s Caliphate Dream
An article in the Al-Wafd party organ titled “Ayatollah Obama,” by media personality and Egyptian television presenter Kamal ‘Abd Al-Fattah,” stated: “The Muslim Brotherhood groups may well take pride in the position of White House sheikh Ayatollah Ruhollah Hussein Obama, who for the past year has shared with them the dream of implementing the Islamic shari’a in Egypt, one of the states of the great American Islamic Caliphate. In order to establish [the Islamic Caliphate in Egypt] in the 21st century, [three leaders] cooperated, [forming] the triangle comprising purity, fear of God, and rectitude…
“[These three are:] the wretched MB member who obeys the [MB General] Guide before he obeys Allah [i.e. deposed Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi]; a Qatari youth [i.e. Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani] whose beard hasn’t yet grown and who has begun inscribing his autobiography in lipstick [a hint that he may be homosexual]; and the Turkish bull [i.e. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan] who is a throwback to the days of the [Ottoman] Sultanate…
“With regard to the conductor of this orchestra, Ayatollah Hussein Obama, he was defrauded by a woman of wily temperament named Ann Patterson [the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt], when she sketched out in his mind [the scenario] that the miserable MB would wrap Egypt in the cellophane of friendship and alliance and present it as a gift to the [leader of the] American Reich, Adolf Obama, in exchange for making [MB General Guide] Badi’ or [his deputy Khairat] Al-Shater the next ruler of Egypt in the American Islamic Caliphate state…
“Now, good residents of Egypt, the dream of the Caliphate has evaporated; the troika of political prostitution has collapsed,” and the American ayatollah [Obama], who planned to declare Egypt an Islamic emirate in the framework of the American Islamic Caliphate state, has fallen…
“Mr. Obama, it doesn’t matter that you have lost your principles; the worst thing is that you have removed from America its covering of honor and principles of freedom, leaving it naked in the world…”[8]
‘Al-Masri Al-Yawm’ Article: “Allah, Take Obama And Roast His Corpse”
The Egyptian Al-Masri Al-Yawm daily published a particularly vicious anti-Obama column by Ghada Sharif, in which she wrote: “Allah, take Obama and roast his corpse, turn him right and left on the coals of Hell in savory barbecue sauce; there’s no need for a cold drink or French fries…
“We [are looking at] the man who is the epitome of idiocy and who weirdly insists on sticking his mother’s nose into our affairs, after he cancelled the shipment of F-16s in a hysterical reaction to the request by [Egyptian Defense Minister] Al-Sisi [that the Egyptian people] empower him [to combat terror – a reference to Al-Sisi’s July 24, 2013 speech] … He hasn’t the tiniest shred of intelligence to make him correct his path and shut up…
“Apparently, Obama suffers from emotional problems… His mother was a troublemaker when she met his father, and instead of treating her like a lady, he prostituted her and lived off of her… Some say that [Obama] is [indeed] her son, and others say that she found him in the doorstep of a hashish den…
“The man is insane, and is unable to control his reactions…”[9]
The U.S. Is Losing Its Middle East Influence To Russia
Some of the articles stressed that the U.S.’s strength in the Middle East was fading and on the brink of collapse, and that Egypt, no longer subject to it, must now draw closer to Russia.
Egypt Will Stop Being Subject To The U.S., As Russia And China Enter The Ring
An article in Al-Ahram, titled “Egypt and the Erosion of America’s Influence,” by Dr. Yusri ‘Abdallah, a lecturer in literature at Helwan University, stated: “The entire American position [regarding the removal of Mursi and the June 30, 2013 revolution] constitutes a blatant affront to Egyptian sentiment… A new reality is created now in Cairo, [as reflected by Egypt’s] ability to confront and subdue the forces of darkness, and to preserve the idea of national independence as one of the main goals of the June revolution…
“Egypt will no longer be subject to the American axis, whose influence is fading, because of the immoral [position] of its administration towards the current situation in Egypt… and particularly in light of Russia’s new activity in the capitals of national liberation. This is like… that moment in the 1950s [i.e. the USSR’s Cold War-era alliance with Egypt under president Gamal ‘Abd Al-Nasser], that was the purest moment in the history of the world, and primarily in the history of the repressed peoples, who took their destiny in their own hands after bitter struggles with the forces of hegemony and imperialism…
“It may be that in the upcoming period, the situation in which some countries live like satellites of America in the region will continue, [while] other countries, headed by Egypt, will try, and rightly so, to take ownership of their own national decision[-making]. Since the desire of the free peoples always wins out, there is no doubt that the countries that are advancing towards their independent future will succeed in their efforts, whatever the cost.
“It may be that, as a result of this, the expected and longed-for erosion of the American influence in the region will begin, particularly in light of the fact that the main role that the U.S. is playing in the world is under threat, following Russia’s powerful entrance into the arena of events – in addition to China, which is always looking to pursue its economic interests, which it might very well find in Cairo in the near future…”[10]

The American Demon Is Withering Away; Putin Will Be Given A Huge Reception When He Arrives In Cairo
In its August 17, 2013 editorial, titled “Putin, The New Khrushchev[11] – Welcome,” the Egyptian weekly Roz Al-Yousuf wrote: “The internationalization of the Egyptian crisis… – about which we warned [in an August 10, 2013 article] titled “Egypt Is Equal [To The U.S.] – It Is Not A Slave,’ – is beginning to take an exceptional turn, and we must deal with this quickly, professionally, and creatively…
“The only solution that we can suggest as a beginning is that the Egyptian leadership invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Cairo, as [part of] the return to the Cold War atmosphere that again prevails in the entire region.
“It is sufficient that this shrewd man [Putin] has already stressed several times that he [is willing] to place all Russia’s military capabilities at the disposal of the Egyptian leadership! [12]
“We call on Putin to respond immediately to Egypt’s invitation, and he is assured a huge popular reception, like Khrushchev, the Russian leader and ‘Nasser’s ally’…
“The Egyptians must diversify their sources of armament, and their ties [to various countries], particularly when the American demon is clearly withering away, and its collapse is nigh.”[13]

Calls In Egypt To Reject U.S. Aid
At the same time, other articles called on the Egyptian regime to oppose U.S. aid, which, they said, had transformed Egypt into a lackey of the U.S. They argued Egypt is capable of taking care of itself and that it can get by without American aid.
Egypt Should End The Shame Of American And European Aid
Ahmad Al-Sayyed Al-Naggar wrote in the daily Al-Ahram: “The great Egypt cannot continue to accept regular American and European aid from countries that always stand against the Arab rights, and that have in effect stood by Israel in all its wars against Egypt.
“This is meager and toxic aid, and the U.S. used it to try to make Egypt its lackey, and European countries used it to extort [Egypt while] harming its value and stature… No other independent and leading country in the region receives regular annual aid from a country that routinely stands by its enemies, as Egypt does…
“Egypt should end the shame of the toxic American and European aid, and declare once and for all that it does not need it. It should focus on financial and economic cooperation with sister Arab countries and with friends with which it has already cooperated unconditionally – Russia, China, India, and others – since political, economic, and national independence are more valuable than any aid…
“Egypt… can gain development, justice, and might, by relying on itself, its abilities, and its mighty people.”[15]
Reducing Trade Relations With The U.S. Will Not Harm Egypt
Sharif Ahmad Shafiq also wrote in Al-Ahram: “President Obama, why shouldn’t Egypt, [like the U.S.] also consider its national interests? After all, it is the best able to solve its own crises. I say to the U.S. president: Your threats that [U.S.-]Egypt trade relations will never be the same… will not impact Egypt’s economic ability, because there is a strong infrastructure comprising the government, the military, and the police, who are working together for the good of the country. This in addition to Arab countries… that stand with their big sister Egypt…”[16]

Facebook Campaigns Against U.S. And U.S. Aid
The Egyptian regime supporters’ attack on the U.S. and the calls to boycott its aid to Egypt were expressed also on Facebook pages identified with MB opponents. The Facebook page of the Tamarrud movement, which played a central role in the protest that led to the removal of Mursi, attacked what it said was American interference in Egypt’s affairs, and on August 17, it changed its profile picture to the following image:

“Tamarrud: No To Foreign Intervention.” Facebook.com/Tmrood, August 17, 2013
Tamarrud also criticized U.S. threats to cease aid to Egypt. Following President Obama’s cancellation of the joint U.S.-Egypt military maneuver, and of the delivery of four F-16 aircraft, Tamarrud founder Mahmoud Badr attacked him, saying: “Don’t preach to us on how to deal with MB terrorism… Why don’t you and your meager aid go to hell?”
Badr also announced that the Tamarrud movement had begun collecting signatures on a petition demanding that Egypt reject U.S. aid.[17] Subsequently, Tamarrud’s Facebook page directly attacked Obama and U.S. aid, posting the following image on August 20:

“To hell with American aid. We are a people that submits to none but Allah.” Facebook.com/Tmrood, August 20, 2013
Earlier, on July 29, 2013, the Tamarrud Facebook page featured the following picture, after the cancellation of the F-16 delivery:

Along with the Tamarrud movement, the April 6 movement launched an anti-U.S. aid campaign called “Qadiroun – We Can.” This campaign too attacked Obama directly:

The campaign argued that this was not the first time nor would it be the last time that the U.S. would hint that it would halt the aid, and that it always uses this card to pressure Egypt. The campaign also posted a photo from an August 22 march against foreign embassies in Cairo, including the U.S. Embassy, organized by April 6 youth to protest against foreign interference in Egypt’s affairs and demanding national independence:

“Qadiroun campaign – mind your own business.” Facebook.com/7amlet9adron, retrieved August 20, 2013
Another post on the Qadiroun campaign’s Facebook page read: “We oppose humiliation in the name of aid; we oppose the patronizing of Egypt in the name of aid; we oppose terrorism in the name of aid. Therefore, we oppose [American] aid. Egypt has had its say. The [U.S.] aid interests us not at all.”

Yet another anti-U.S. aid campaign, “Against American Aid,” on Facebook, with over 20,200 “likes,” is also collecting signatures on a petition calling on Egypt to refuse U.S. aid, so that “Egypt will be independent in its decisions,” “Egypt will not drink American poison,” “America will take its hands off our national military,” and “America will not rule our country.”[18] On August 27, 2013, the campaign organizers announced that they had collected 500,000 signatures so far.[19]

… What a Chicken Move !! [CutOff of Military Aid] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,August 20th,2013

.. You figure that POTUS would be able to make a clear decision ,  one way or another , on anything . It seems that this dumbbell cannot ,  even if his life depended on it .

.. Evidently , the Obama administration has temporarily suspended aid to Egypt’s military while  not publicly declaring that the ouster of former President Mohammed Morsi in  July was a coup. Two  administration officials also told the publication that White House lawyers  decided the law called for temporarily restricting military aid in the event of  a coup, but did not mandate a public announcement about whether a coup had  actually taken place.

.. according to one official , “The decision  was we’re going to avoid saying it was a coup, but to stay on the safe side of  the law we are going to act as if the designation has been made for now,” “By not announcing the decision, it gives the administration the  flexibility to reverse it.”

.. for god ‘ s sake , either make the call , or do  not make the call . Do not be weak in the knees about it . Right now , the ObamaCraps are behaving like a bunch of wussies . Publicly, the ObamaCraps has indicated  that $585 million of the promised 1.3 billion in military aid for fiscal 2013 is  not officially on hold because it is not technically due to be delivered to  Egypt until the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.

.. you folks are behaving like a bunch of idiots . Show some spine , and “grow a pair.”  Either it was a coup , or it was not . Issue a waiver , if maintaining relations with Egypt (and its regime) is important enough . The military group may not  be a bunch of choirboys or boy scouts , but they are far preferrable to the bloodthirsty religious tyranny of the Muslim Brotherhood  .

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,August 20th,2013

.. Earth to Jen Psaki . The Muslim Brotherhood are anti – democratic . They are the primogenitors of just about every terrorist movement around in Africa (yes , Africa) and the Middle East

.. Do You and the ObamaCraps really want a Sunni Muslim version of Iran , sitting on (both) the Meditteranean Sea , and the Red Sea , sitting athwart the Suez Canal ?

.. Do You and the ObamaCraps really want to support mass murdering religious bigots , who , if they could get away with it , would murder 8 milliion Coptic Christians and 8 million more Israelis ?

.. Do You and the ObamaCraps really support an anti – democratic movement , one that stands for “one man , one vote , once ?”

.. Do and and the ObamaCraps really support a true Arab Spring , or a deep and frosty Arab winter , with millions of common Arabs being subjugated under the thumb of the Mullahs in Teheran ?

.. Well , where do you and the ObamaCraps really stand ?

.. See for yourself [link] ..

.. They should be banned , you damn idiot ! ..

… Egypt should Ban the Muslim Brotherhood …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,August 17th,2013

.. what did you expect ?

.. the Brotherhood is a criminal organization . As has been said , it is dedicated to the imposition of sharia law , and its own form of Islamic dictatorship . Naturally , it means that the MB would be in control of the country . But from where ? Cairo , or Teheran ?

.. Considering the history of the Brotherhood , I would think that they would take their marching orders from the mullahs in Iran . It would make the world and especially the Middle East , in particular , a far more dangerous place . Israel itself , would be in the cross – hairs .

.. Egypt is currently a U.S. ally . The way that the ObamaCraps are pissing on the Egyptians , that is very likely to change , even if the Egyptian military (which is an important political power base in its own right) remains in power . They may not feel that the alliance with the U.S. is worth it all that much anymore , and dump us . Picking up someone else would be tricky , though .

Egypt considers outlawing Muslim Brotherhood

CAIRO (AP) – Egyptian authorities are considering disbanding the Muslim Brotherhood group, a government spokesman said Saturday, once again outlawing a group that held the pinnacle of government power just more than a month earlier.

The announcement comes after security forces broke up two sit-in protests this week by those calling for the reinstatement of President Mohammed Morsi, a Brotherhood leader deposed in a July 3 coup. The clashes killed more than 600 people that day and sparked protests and violence that killed 173 people Friday alone.

Cabinet spokesman Sherif Shawki said that Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi, who leads the military-backed government, assigned the Ministry of Social Solidarity to study the legal possibilities of dissolving the group. He didn’t elaborate.

The Muslim Brotherhood group, founded in 1928, came to power a year ago when its Morsi was elected in the country’s first free presidential elections. The election came after the overthrow of autocrat Hosni Mubarak in a popular uprising in 2011.

The fundamentalist group has been banned for most of its 80-year history and repeatedly subjected to crackdowns under Mubarak’s rule. While sometimes tolerated and its leaders part of the political process, members regularly faced long bouts of imprisonment and arbitrary detentions.

Since Morsi was deposed in the popularly backed military coup, the Brotherhood stepped up its confrontation with the new leadership, holding sit-ins in two encampments for weeks, rallying thousands and vowing not to leave until Morsi is reinstated.

On Wednesday, security authorities swept through the two protest camps, leaving hundreds killed and thousands others injured. The violent crackdown sparked days of street violence across the country where Islamist supporters stormed and torched churches and police stations.

In the most recent standoff, Egyptian security forces exchanged heavy gunfire Saturday with armed men at top of a minaret of a Cairo mosque. The security forces fired tear gas, stormed the mosque and rounded up hundreds of Islamists supporters of Morsi who had been barricaded inside overnight.

The confrontations Friday – around a Brotherhood call for a “Day of Rage” – killed at least 173 people, said Shawki, the Cabinet spokesman. He said 1,330 people were wounded in the protests.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry said in a statement that a total of 1,004 Brotherhood members were detained in raids across the country and that weapons, bombs and ammunition were confiscated with the detainees.

Among the dead Friday was Ammar Badie, a son of Brotherhood spiritual leader Mohammed Badie, the group’s political arm said in a statement.

Also Saturday, authorities arrested the brother of al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahri, a security official said Saturday. Mohammed al-Zawahri, leader of the ultraconservative Jihadi Salafist group, was detained at a checkpoint in Giza, the city across the Nile from Cairo, the official said.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity as he wasn’t authorized to brief journalists about the arrest.

… Why the Church Attacks by the Muslim Brotherhood ?? …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,August 16th,2013

.. simplest way possible , is that because they can . They are also trying to send a message to Egyptian society (including the military) . We are still here , and we will do what we please .

.. One is that because the Christian minority, unlike the military, is vulnerable. Christians and their churches were increasingly subject to attacks as the Muslim movement sought to make the position of the religious minority untenable. As the Brotherhood seeks to demonstrate that it is still a viable force in the country’s streets even after its Cairo strongholds are uprooted, expect more attacks on Christians to remind Egyptians that the Islamists are still a force to be reckoned with.

.. Two , the attacks on churches are not just a regrettable sideshow in what may be soon seen as a civil war . The MB will , as you might think , work and scheme to try to regain power , especially after losing it in the way that they did . They lost it to the massive street protests that encouraged the army to launch the coup that ended Morsi’s rule. Rather, such attacks are an inextricable part of their worldview . They seek to work to transform Egypt in their own Islamist image.

.. In the Muslim Brotherhood’s eye , there is no room for Christians or even secular Muslims. That is why so many in Egypt applauded the coup as perhaps the last chance to save the country from permanent Islamist rule.
The Brotherhood may have used a seemingly democratic process to take power in 2012, but they would never have peacefully relinquished it or allowed their opponents to stop them from imposing their will on every aspect of Egyptian society .

.. As difficult as it may be for some high-minded Americans to understand, in this case it is the military and not the protesters in Cairo who are seeking to stop tyranny. Though the military is an unattractive ally, anyone seeking to cut off vital U.S. aid to Egypt should remember that the only alternative to it is the party that is currently burning churches.

… What POTUS seems to Not Understand about Egypt …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,August 16th,2013

.. POTUS has condemned the Egyptian military’s slaughter of Muslim Brotherhood members and sympathizers . He has also acted to cancel joint military exercises scheduled for next month. He said that the violence should stop and that “a process of national reconciliation should begin.”

.. Not surprisingly , the ObamCrap White House is clueless about foreign af fairs , in general , and Egypt , in particular . They think that because they might call a shot , that the Egyptians will jump , and dance to their tune . On the contrary . The Arab World sees this as a brother Arab nation being bullied by the West . They cannot replace the military training (Israel can , to a point) , but these nations are loaded to the gills . They can easily replace the financial aid .

.. What the White House fails to understand is that the Egyptian military has very different ideas about what “reconciliation” means . Its goal is to eventually destroy the Muslim Brotherhood, its traditional adversary, by any land all means possible . it will likely mean wasting as many of the MB as is possible . They will jail the others , but there will , they hope , a great deal fewer of them .

.. Are the ObamaCraps that oblivious and stupid . Did they think that the Egyptians would dance to their tune . They are just as capabile of saying one thing , and then doing another as is the Administration . The ObamaCraps obviously do not understand the Brotherhood for the mortal threat to civilization that they are . Anyone that would compromise or even attepmt to reconcile with these murderous thugs would have to be insane .

.. The generals in Cairo have made cold calculations. One of them is that brutality pays dividends. Yes, there may be short-term consequences to the brutal crackdown: There’s still a decent chance that the U.S. will suspend aid to the Egyptian military . Expect that to happen . It will be only short – term , however . Short of an attack on Israel , Egypt will eventually get its American aid . Even if they do not , for a while , they can replace it , at least they economic side of it .

.. The military leadership has added up the score . They knew that the violence may well force Obama ‘ s hand . They also realize that he is weak . They also know that they have to be strong and stout . But the generals understood that a suspension of aid might be possible in the aftermath of the sort of crackdown we’re seeing now. Which means that they have come to think that wiping out the Brotherhood is worth the risk. (They also know that there are plenty of wealthy sheiks in the Persian Gulf who viscerally oppose the Brotherhood and who would be happy to supplement Egypt’s defense budget.)

.. I would not doubt that the crackdown will continue . One chief reason is Syria . The generals cannot help but notice that the world has stood idly by as Bashar al-Assad has presided over the deaths of some 100,000 Syrian citizens. In the Middle East, you can, in fact, get away with murder.

. And the Egyptian military has given the Brotherhood something it seeks: mass martyrdom, which is the most potent motivational tool a theocratic movement has in its arsenal.

.. Egypt is falling into ruin because the Brotherhood is anti-democratic, revanchist, anti-Christian and power-mad . It is also because the Egyptian military couldn’t conceive of a way to marginalize it without resorting to mass violence. This leaves the U.S. in the difficult position of having no one to support. There is, at this point, no good reason to continue funding the Egyptian armed forces. The aid obviously hasn’t provided the White House with sufficient leverage, and it makes the U.S. complicit in what just happened and what will undoubtedly continue to happen.

.. One argument for continued aid is that it encourages the military to maintain Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel. But the military will do so whether or not the U.S. provides money and weapons, because it has decided that Islamist extremism, and not Israel, is Egypt’s main enemy. And it will be too busy persecuting Egyptians.

… Cutting and Running is not the Answer ! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,August 2nd,2013

.. The State Department seems to think that it has accurate intel about terroristic threats about ongoing ops in the Arab World . Or , so it thinks that it does . I would tend to wonder . As a response , they have ordered the “temporary” closure of embassies and consulates throughout the Arab World . They think that that is the answer to an increased security threat ? Cutting and Running ?

.. The ObamaCrap foreign policy is a disgrace . We are the laughingstock , around the world . Our level of respect in foreign lands has never been lower . The so – called ” Russian reset ” is anything but an embarassment . It is but an excuse for our foreign policy establishment to kiss up to the Russians , while appeasing them to the n – th degree , while effectively getting nothing in return . The “Arab Spring” has been totally mismanaged . Our friends cower in fear , while our enemies advance their interests . They do so with very little , if any , fear of what we think , or what we will do . The Far East has badly destabilized , and , if we are not careful , a war could break out , one that could go nuclear very quickly .

.. We need better . We deserve better . We have to have better . The sooner , the better .

… Egyptian Christians Targeted [What Else is New , Unfortunately] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,July 13th,2013

.. The aftermath of the removal of Mohammed Morsi from power is taking ominous turns :

.. The military’s ouster of President Mohamed Morsi has unleashed a new wave of violence by extremist Muslims against Christians whom they blame for having supported the calls to overthrow Mr. Morsi, Egypt’s first Islamist elected leader, according to rights activists.

.. Since Mr. Morsi’s ouster on July 3rd , the activists say, a priest has been shot dead in the street, Islamists have painted black X’s on Christian shops to mark them for arson and angry mobs have attacked churches and besieged Christians in their homes. Four Christians were reported slaughtered with knives and machetes in one village last week.

.. The attacks have hit across the country , in the northern Sinai Peninsula, in a resort town on the Mediterranean coast, in Port Said along the Suez Canal and in isolated villages in upper Egypt.

.. Tensions between the Christian minority and extremist elements in the Muslim majority are not new, but many cite anger among Islamists at the removal of Mr. Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood from power as fueling the recent increase in violence.

.. Many Christians were alarmed at the victories of Islamists in elections after the 2011 revolution that overthrew Mr. Morsi’s autocratic predecessor, Hosni Mubarak. Although Christians by no means represented a majority of the anti-Morsi rallies that preceded Mr. Morsi’s downfall, Christians did participate in the campaigns to remove Mr. Morsi that so deeply antagonized his supporters.

..  “They thought Christians played a big role in the protests and in the army’s intervention to topple Morsi, so this is revenge for that,” said Ishaq Ibrahim, who has documented the violence for the Cairo-based Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, or EIPR.

.. Many Islamist leaders blamed Christians and holdovers from the Mubarak era for the mass protests against Mr. Morsi that took place on the June 30 anniversary of his swearing-in. Even rank-and-file Islamists maintaining a sit-in in a Cairo suburb calling for Mr. Morsi’s return often have spoken spitefully of what they described as Christian collusion.

.. In some places, Christians were admonished not to participate in the anti-Morsi protests. Fliers distributed in the upper Egypt province of Minya, documented by EIPR, warned that “one liter of gas can light up your gold, wood, plumbing, tractor, carpentry shops, buses, cars, houses, churches, schools, agricultural fields and workshops.”

.. They were signed “people who care for the country.”

.. If the aftermath of this coup turns into sectarian violence, then Egypt may find itself heading down a path that will be bad not only for its own future, but for the future of the entire region.

… the Answer should be Never release Her …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,April 10th,2013

… the answer should be Never release her …

.. I am well familiar with the case of traitor lawyer Lynne Stewart . She was , as many know , the lead legal defense counsel for convicted and jailed blind Egyptian sheik Omar Abdel Rahman . She evidently has stage-4 breast cancer. Her radical friends — ranging from the “Party for Socialism and Liberation” and “Workers World” to Pete Seeger and others want her freed from jail . They have got to be kidding . ..

.. There is only one simple and decent answer to them : …

.. No . Hell , No . Never ..

.. How can they just let her suffer and perish behind bars ? All she did was “ distribute press releases .  ” No , she did not . She was his lawyer , and he was allowed no outside contact . None . She acted in concert and conspiracy with him to pass messages to his followers . The authorities have her nailed , if you will , “dead to rights . ” ..   .. Defying a judge’s communications ban, Stewart ferreted messages to the Blind Sheik from fellow jihadist Rifa’l Ahman Tara urging him to support a new wave of Islamic violence in Egypt — and then smuggled out a coded order to his followers lifting a ceasefire between his terrorist group and the Egyptian government. Stewart personally delivered one of the messages to a Reuters reporter . ..

Stewart remains unrepentant. She called 9/11 an “armed struggle.” Upon her initial sentencing, she boasted that she could serve the term “standing on her head.” After she was convicted of aiding and abetting Rahman, she told an interviewer she “would do it again.”   Now she wants mercy, medical comforts and freedom ? No ! Never ! This messenger gal for murderous barbarians made her bed . She should die in it.

… guys , you are not …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,April 2nd,2013

… Royalty ! …

.. It seems that their “royal highnesses” Mohammad Morsi & Mohammad Abbas are getting into the habits of their predecessors . They are prosecuting , er persecuting their “countrymen” on charges of “insult”. Wonderful ..

.. The “Arab Spring” was supposed to represent freerer speech and responsible actions ,  not another round of dictators ..

At least one of the complaints originated from the Muslim Brotherhood. It was filed by Brotherhood lawyer Mohamed Abou el-Enein who said Youssef used his show to “offend symbols of the nation such as President Mohamed Morsi.”   Hours before he complied with the summons, Youssef in a phone interview with a television station rejected the allegation that he had insulted Islam.   “If there is anyone who has insulted religion it is those who use Islam as a weapon for political reasons,” the Al-Ahram daily quoted him as saying.   Opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei called the actions against the satirist “pathetic efforts to smother dissent and intimidate media,” usually only seen in fascist regimes.

During a debate hosted by the American University in Cairo last February, Youssef said  anyone who does not follow the Islamists’ version of Islam is demonized.   In response to a question from the audience about where he saw Egypt heading in the next five years, he replied, “I certainly don’t know, nobody has the crystal ball. But let’s have fun while going there!”   Many Islamists do not share his sense of humor, however. Some have held protests  outside private television channels viewed as critical of Morsi, and last January Islamist lawyers tried to bring a lawsuit against Youssef for “undermining the standing of the president.” That complaint did not reach

Lese-majeste laws – outlawing acts that insult a sovereign – are in place in several Arab and European countries, including Jordan, Kuwait, Denmark and Norway.
