… Earth to JohnBoy : No Kidding , Duh ?!?! …

.. Now it seems that the ObamaCrap Administration is finally getting the lead out of its rear end where it concerns Syria . Unfortunately , it is more than a day late , and definitely more than a dollar short .

.. Intervention now in Syria ‘ s civil war would be like closing the barn door after the horses have already long since left . This kind of intervention around a year or so ago would have made a real difference . Now , long after Iran and its allies have acted , it may help , but it is highly unlikely to be much of a difference – maker .

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters on Monday that the U.S. has additional information about the alleged chemical weapons attack in Damascus last week.

Kerry said in a press conference that the number of victims of the attack on Wednesday, the reported symptoms and the accounts of humanitarian organizations strongly indicate that chemical weapons were used in Syria.

Kerry added that the U.S. believes the regime of president Bashar al-Assad is responsible for the attack, and that the Syrian government’s decision to grant U.N. investigators access to the site of the attack came “too late to be credible.”

Syrian opposition forces said last Wednesday that hundreds of people were killed near Damascus in an alleged chemical weapons attack. The international medical organization Doctors Without Borders announced on Saturday they had counted at least 355 deaths in the suburb of Ghouta.

U.N. investigators inspected the site of the alleged chemical attack on Monday, despite being targeted by snipers earlier that day. Reuters reports that the investigators met with survivors and took samples on the site.

It was unclear who was behind the attack on the officials. While members of the opposition blamed the Assad regime, Syria’s government held rebels responsible.

… It is a Day Late , POTUS , and a Dollar Short (to say the least) …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,August 23rd,2013

.. Now he starts to speak .

.. Since the evidence is clearly overwhelming , POTUS has finally found that his hand has been forced . He cannot ignore the obvious . Chemical Weapons have been used by the Assad regime in Damascus , and there is no getting around that fact . Also , sitting there , and doing nothing , for the ObamaCraps is not an option any longer .

.. POTUS called the apparent gassing of hundreds of Syrian civilians a “big event of grave concern” but stressed on Friday that he would not rush to embroil Americans in a costly new war.

As opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad braved the frontlines around Damascus to try and deliver tissue samples to U.N. inspectors from victims of Wednesday’s poisoning, Obama brushed over an interviewer’s reminder that he once called the use of chemical weapons a “red line” for U.S. action on Syria.

He played down the chances of Assad cooperating with a U.N. team that might, if given access soon, provide conclusive evidence of what happened. In any case, he would not react in haste to calls for U.S. intervention that would “mire” Americans in an undertaking that was counter to their long-term interests.

.. Noting budget constraints, problems of international law and a continuing U.S. casualty toll in Afghanistan, Obama told CNN:

“Sometimes what we’ve seen is that folks will call for immediate action, jumping into stuff that does not turn out well, gets us mired in very difficult situations, can result in us being drawn into very expensive, difficult, costly interventions that actually breed more resentment in the region.

“The United States continues to be the one country that people expect can do more than just simply protect their borders. But that does not mean that we have to get involved with everything immediately.

“We have to think through strategically what’s going to be in our long-term national interests.”

.. LEC again — International Law is arrived at by the acts and customs agreed upon by the Laws of Nations . It is not arrived at by cowardice in the face of evil , when evil will triumph , because supposedly good people do nothing , and invoke the Sergeant Schultz excuse , “I hear nothing , nothing , nothing …. ” . Part of those acts to be arrived at is for those of the forces of good to decide to stand up , they have had enough , and take action . Also , part of that situation is making sure that your word is your bond , and that your word is good . It means get your head out of your [bleep] , and get to it …

Asked about his comment – a year to the day before the poison fumes hit sleeping residents of rebel-held Damascus suburbs – that chemical weapons would be a red line for the United States, he replied: “If the U.S. goes in and attacks another country without a U.N. mandate and without clear evidence that can be presented, then there are questions in terms of whether international law supports it.”

LEC again — What a Wuss !!
