… What Do I think [Obama and Amnesty] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,April 11th,2014

.. unless a massive screwup occurs , the GOP will control both Houses of Congress after the November elections …

.. [-] the House — I believe that the GOP will add seats . How many ? I am not sure on that one , yet . it is too early to tell . My best guess is around 8 to 10 to 12 seats . That would not be too bad , because that would boost the GOP majority to about 245 seats . A healthy and manageable majority , no doubt …

.. could it be more , yes . but I doubt it …

.. [-] the Senate — at the rate things are going , the GOP is going to have a healthy majority , of al least 52 seats . I am thinking that it could be much more . If this election is a wave , somewhat like 2010 , it will be the Senate races that are affected the most , and give the GOP pickups that no one would expect , like Oregon (which I expect) and Minnesota (which I do not)…

.. it matters , because of what is about to follow …

.. [h/t — TruthRevolt]..
.. [link] to the blog post …

.. Obama is going to grant ” amnesty ” by executive action after the election before the new congress takes office . Yes , it does matter . I will tell you why …

.. he can legally relieve illegals of the criminal offense , being in the country illegally . POTUS can grant pardons , clemency , and reprieves . It is in the U.S. Constitution , and there is nothing that anyone can do about it …

.. however , he cannot administratively change the law to grant those illegals citizenship . He may want to , and may even try to do so . I do not believe that he has the legal authority to change the immigration law . No president does . It is covered by separation of powers , among other things . He may well still try , though . That is where the change in Congress matters …

.. if and when he does , he will trigger impeachment proceedings . He will also just about cook the DemoCraps ‘ goose in 2016 . Back to that some other time . The House Judiciary Committee can conduct an impeachment inquiry during the current congress during the lame duck session . Committee proceedings can continue . Especially if he does a jackhole  stunt like this . I half expect him to try to do so , especially now .

.. In addition , it would go to the D.C. Appeals Court , which , unfortunately , has been stacked with his cronies . However , the U.S. Supreme Court has not . The Conservatives would not stand for this abuse of power . Neither would Anthony Kennedy . Neither I believe would Steven Breyer . I doubt the liberals would , either , but given the polarization , who knows . Obama ‘ s admin action will be struck down …

.. Rememer , he can relieve illegals of the criminal act . He can also stop deportations . That one would create a huge uproar , all by itself . However , he cannot change immigration law , all by himself , as much as he would like to do so . Even if he would try , his act would be struck down at lightening speed by the courts . They would not dilly – dally around , taking months . They would take maybe a few weeks , at most …

… Agreed , on Edward Snowden …

.. I most heartily agree . Do Not grant the S.O.B. amnesty . The stuff is out the door already . Our security services and intelligence agencies will have to go through an expensive and complete refit . So much the better . They could really use it , especially to deal with the P.R.C. .

.. So , do not give the bastard an inch . Not a Milimeter …

… You can thank Homeland Security for This Idiocy …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,August 11th,2013

.. news such that from these is outrageous .

.. The drug cartels (in Mexico) present a significant security threat . Not just to the Mexican people , but to the people of the United States . it is without doubt that the cartels have contacts with gangs , with the remains of the Mafia , and other groups throughout our country . However , their effect remains muted , at least in our country .

.. Even so , in Mexico , their country has evolved , and has grown . Mexico has not emerged into the First World , but its time is coming . Its economy is becoming far more diverse , and industrial , as well as service and information – based . It is most definitely not an “oil” economy , not anymore . Even their oil sector is beginning to reform itself . Amazing , by Mexican standards , considering how rife with corruption that Petroleonos Mexicanos (or , PEMEX) has been for decades . It has never gotten as rife with violence and drug gang control as Columbia did a generation ago.

.. However , one cannot discout the drug cartel threat . They are ongoing and continuing threat , on both sides of the border . It most definitely does not justify what is happening right now on the border , especially with the immigration debate that is underway .

.. Homeland Security has created a huge new loophole . Either by its actions , or by its lack of action . There is no excuse for it . None , at all . Period . They are acting as if they are waving “ole” at the border , and allowing a new flood of illegals in . Their actions will backfire . Spectacularly .

… this piece is from KSAZ (Fox–Phoenix,AZ) …

SAN DIEGO –

A loophole is allowing hundreds of immigrants across the Mexico border in to the United States.
Immigrants are being taught to use “key words and phrases” to be allowed to enter and stay in the country.

Just this past Monday, Border Patrol agents say about 200 people came through the Otay Crossing claiming a quote: “credible fear” of the drug cartels.

So many were doing this that they had to close down the processing center and move the overflow by vans to another station.

“They are being told if they come across the border, when they come up to the border and they say certain words, they  will be allowed into the country,” said a person who did not want to be identified on camera.  “We are being overwhelmed.”

Pete Nunez, former U.S. Attorney and immigration expert says, “This will swamp the system.”
“To make our system even more ridiculous than it has been in the  past,” he adds.  “There are no detention facilities for families, so the family would have to be split up. We don’t want to split families up, so we end up releasing people out into the community on bond, on bail.”
Nunez says, “It’s a huge loophole.”
“There has to be a policy change, something implemented, an emergency implementation that will stop this, or otherwise we will have thousands coming in.”
Immigrants are telling the Port Enforcement Team — or P.E.T. — that the cartels are ripping apart their state.

There’s no word on whether this same loophole is being used in Arizona.

Sudden Flood of Asylum Requests at U.S./Mexico Border

At the Otay crossing near the San Diego border last Monday, about 200 people coming from Mexico gained entry to the United States all using the same key phrase; they claimed they had a ‘credible fear’ of drug cartels. According to KSAZ FoxPheonix:

So many were doing this that they had to close down the processing center and move the overflow by vans to another station.

“They are being told if they come across the border, when they come up to the border and they say certain words, they  will be allowed into the country,” said a person who did not want to be identified on camera.  “We are being overwhelmed.”

This apparent new shift in tactics to enter the United States comes at a time when the Associated Press is reporting a spike in the number of asylum requests in the past few years:

According draft testimony for USCIS Associate Director Joseph Langlois that was to be submitted for a congressional hearing on asylum requests last month, USCIS received more than 19,119 asylum requests through the end of May. The agency anticipates receiving more than 28,600 by the end of the fiscal year.

According to the testimony, during the 2009 budget year the agency received just 5,369 such requests.

However, this new phenomenon is out of all proportion, even with this spike. To put those numbers in perspective with the 200 people making asylum requests on one day at one border crossing, 200 people a day equals 73,000 people a year — close to three times the total number received all year, at all border crossings.

KSAZ reports the new tactic could easily overwhelm the immigration system, quoting immigration attorney and former immigration official Pete Nunez:

“To make our system even more ridiculous than it has been in the  past,” he adds. “There are no detention facilities for families, so the family would have to be split up. We don’t want to split families up, so we end up releasing people out into the community on bond, on bail.” Nunez says, “It’s a huge loophole.”

“There has to be a policy change, something implemented, an emergency implementation that will stop this, or otherwise we will have thousands coming in.”

The goal, however, may be to overwhelm the system. This apparent new tactic comes on the heels of widely publicized activism by a group called ‘The Dream 9’ who also used a claim of asylum to gain re-entry to the country. As leftist organization Colorlines reported last week:

All nine of the activists have now established credible fear, a step toward an asylum hearing. Supporters are now hoping the Dream 9 will be eligible for parole, which would allow them to return to the United States until their asylum hearing dates.

This connection between the ‘Dream 9’ and the tactic of asylum was made by Spanish-language news source La Opiniòn. They report (translation by Google Translation) in an article entitled El asilo se volvió un sueño (in English: The asylum becomes a dream):

Following the release of nine Dreamers prisoners in Arizona, after a protest at the border, others have taken the path of asylum as a way to solve their deportation.

Media reports in San Diego are reporting that “hundreds of foreigners are trying to enter the country in the same way” and even that immigrants are being taught to use key phrases that they can stay in the country.

Reports tell of cases in the Port of Entry Otay Mesa, where 199 people have argued a ‘credible fear “to the drug cartels in Mexico.

And the validation of Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) of the status of “credible fear”, which allowed young people to stay at home and return to their families seems to have generated more of a headache for Immigration.

La Opiniòn goes on to quote Marshall Fitz, the immigration policy expert the liberal Center for American Progress, who points out that many would not qualify and it’s not a good ‘long term strategy’ for those attempting to cross the border.

… “Amnesty” and English …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,July 1st,2013

.. This immigration reform attempts to dissolve the melting pot .

.. Backers of the immigration bill under consideration in the Senate say the legislation encourages illegal aliens to learn English, but that’s apparently not so . They’ve been running ads on conservative talk radio programs insisting that the illegals “must learn English” as a condition of legalization.

.. It figures .

.. The usual suspects, including a group called Americans for a Conservative Direction, backed by establishment Republicans and liberal Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, are peddling this dubious claim. Most backers of immigration reform have opposed efforts to designate English as the official language. These include POTUS . Earlier this month he used his weekly radio address to claim the immigration reform bill “would provide a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million individuals who are in this country illegally — a pathway that includes passing a background check, learning English, paying taxes and a penalty.”

..  We are sure he is serious about the “tax” part, but as Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle notes, immigrants are supposed to learn English already under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The Gang of Eight bill actually waters down existing requirements by allowing illegals to qualify for “learning English” status if they sign up for a course , regardless of whether they actually take it. Even if the Gang were serious about the language requirement, it poses a serious  logistical challenge.

.. These people are not all coming from Mexico , from Central America , or from the rest of Latin America . These migrants who might get the proposed amnesty are from

all over the world . That mean language instruction for more than just Spanish speakers , folks . Bringing the entire set of illegals up to fluency in English would require the hiring of thousands of teachers of English as a second language at a cost of millions of dollars.

.. We are a cultural melting pot , merging the best (and , it seems , the worst) of our cultures ., into  one . We are of many faiths , but of one  common language , American English.  It may require a great deal of expense , at first . But , you go the extra mile  , to bring people in from the cold . You help  them to acclimatte  , but voluntarily ., not by force . We all speak our  native tongues , if they are not American English . But we all speak one in  common  . It is not just decency , but dignity  . It is acclimation and cultural fluency  as well as linguistic fuency .

.. The fatal flaw in the Gang of Eight plan is, in fact, its lack of anything encouraging unity; assimilation is an afterthought. Any real reform of the immigration system must take us back to the day we welcomed immigrants and encouraged them to learn our language , our history , our traditions , and our  culture , so they could become independent Americans, rather than wards dependent on the state.
