… What is the ObamaCrap White House thinking ?? [BenghaziGate] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 26th,2014

.. when they were playing cutesy – pie with YouTube over the video that they were attacking as the supposed ” cause ” of the attack on the consulate at Benghazi , Libya ?? …

.. [h/t — HotAir]..
.. [link] to the blog post …

.. you really have to wonder , at that point , what the White House was doing and thinking toying with YouTube ?? . YouTube will take a video down if it does not meet its rules . Also , like most any other content provider , it would do something for the nation , in terms of national security , if the situation is important enough . But , why at that point ??

.. that those idiots were already thinking and acting on this is grossly incriminating . Especially the timing ….

.. from HotAir …

The subject line of the e-mail, which was sent at 9:11 p.m. Eastern Time on the night of the attack, is “Update on Response to actions – Libya.” The was written hours before the attack was over…

“White House is reaching out to U-Tube [sic] to advice ramification of the posting of the Pastor Jon video,” the e-mail reads, according to Issa.

Asked about the document, a senior White House official told ABC News it demonstrates that the White House genuinely believed the video sparked the attack all along, a belief that turned out to be incorrect…

Issa has an entirely different view. He contends the document contradicts the White House assertion that it was the CIA who first pinned blame for the attack on protests in response to the anti-Islamic video.

The “Pastor Jon video” is, I believe, a garbled reference to Pastor Terry Jones, who was publicizing the Mohammed movie to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11. But anyway: Does the e-mail prove the White House’s good faith by showing that the YouTube video was on their radar from the beginning and not something they cooked up to make Susan Rice’s spin that Sunday a bit easier? Or does it prove that the YouTube video did indeed come from a political outfit like the White House, not intelligence agents? Actually, you don’t need the new e-mail to ask that question. At 10:08 p.m. on the night of the attack, less than an hour after the e-mail was sent, the State Department issued this statement from Hillary Clinton:

I condemn in the strongest terms the attack on our mission in Benghazi today. As we work to secure our personnel and facilities, we have confirmed that one of our State Department officers was killed. We are heartbroken by this terrible loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and those who have suffered in this attack.

This evening, I called Libyan President Magariaf to coordinate additional support to protect Americans in Libya. President Magariaf expressed his condemnation and condolences and pledged his government’s full cooperation.

Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind.

There’s no question that the video was on the White House’s radar from the beginning. The questions are (a) who put it there, the CIA or some political actor, and more importantly, (b) why was it still there three days later after information had begun flowing in that a jihadi group was behind the whole thing? The “spontaneous protest” theory was more durable than it should have been, it seems, to the point where it took weeks for Obama to start calling the attack an, er, attack. Figuring out why it was durable is one of Gowdy’s core tasks, along with that pesky government-suppressing-speech thing.

… Can ‘ t You All Shut Up [Sensitive Intelligence & Military Info] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,August 21st,2013

.. I will tell you this , I do find articles like this interesting and entertaining . However , they are very foolish , and dangerous to our nation ‘ s security , and that of our allies .

.. Yes , Al Qaeda had a mass meeting …
(h/t — Eli Lake , the Daily Beast and Josh Rogin , the Daily Beast)

Exclusive: Courier Led U.S. to al Qaeda Internet Conference

U.S. officials followed the Internet trail of an al Qaeda courier to learn the details of an electronic conference between more than 20 of the organization’s top officials.

Eli Lake , Josh Rogin  August 20th , 2013

Prior to the worldwide security alert that temporarily shuttered U.S. embassies throughout the Middle East earlier this month, authorities captured an al Qaeda courier who had in his possession a recording of a seven-hour Internet-hosted meeting between more than 20 senior al Qaeda leaders from around the globe, U.S. intelligence officials said.

On August 7, The Daily Beast first reported  that intelligence officials had learned of a remote conference between senior al Qaeda leaders, as well as representatives from al Qaeda branches in Iraq, the Maghreb, and Southeast Asia. The conversations that occurred on the conference, put together with other communications intelligence, prompted the Obama administration (#) to take drastic security precautions to address a vague but seemingly imminent threat on Western interests being planned by the terrorist organization.

The Daily Beast has learned new details about the conference, including that it was conducted over a secure Internet messaging system and that U.S. and Yemeni officials learned about it after intercepting the communications of an al Qaeda courier, who was subsequently captured by Yemen’s National Security Bureau with help from the CIA.

Earlier this summer, the al Qaeda courier began uploading (#) messages to a series of encrypted accounts containing minutes of what appeared to have been an important meeting. A U.S. intelligence agency was able to exploit a flaw in the courier’s operational security, intercepting the digital packets and locating the courier, according to two U.S. intelligence officials and one U.S. official who reviewed the intelligence. All three officials spoke on condition of anonymity.

The courier (#) remains in Yemeni custody. According to the three U.S. officials, Yemeni intelligence discovered a treasure trove of information in the courier’s possession, including not only meeting minutes but an actual Web recording of the seven-hour, Internet-based al Qaeda conference between the organization’s top leaders and representatives of its many affiliates and aspiring affiliates.

The conference was conducted in classical Arabic and included proxies and leaders from al Qaeda’s regional branches as well as the heads of the group’s various committees. Some participants in the conference joined via a video connection, others communicated only through audio, and still others in the conference communicated via text. The discussion ranged from routine business affairs to theological matters, according to the two U.S. intelligence officials who analyzed the intelligence haul from the courier.

The recording begins with a video address from Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al Qaeda’s network. His participation surprised U.S. intelligence analysts, who believed the al Qaeda leader wouldn’t risk being part of real-time communication.

Zawahiri’s message begins with an assessment of current uprisings in the Middle East, the U.S. intelligence officials said, and compares America’s regional position with the Soviet Union in 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell and the communist empire collapsed. Zawahiri urged others in the conference to take advantage of America’s declining influence in the region.

Zawahiri then announced his decision to make Nasser al-Wuhayshi (/articles/2013/08/09/meet-al-qaeda-s-new-general-manager-nasser-al-wuhayshi.html) the general manager of the group for a new phase in al Qaeda’s war strategy. He then disappeared from the virtual conference, but reappeared at later points with other messages during the seven-hour meeting.

Some participants in the conference joined via a video connection, others communicated only through audio, and still others in the conference communicated
via text.

Zawahiri did not answer direct questions, leading some U.S. intelligence agencies to assess that he monitored the session remotely and provided a third party with videos to be plugged into the conference. Other U.S. intelligence analysts, however, concluded that Zawahiri did participate directly. Wuhayshi answered questions from the participants, indicating that he was participating in real time.

Several other news outlets have reported various details of the al Qaeda conference. On August 6, NBC News reported (http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/06/19898615-al-qaeda-wanted-attack-to-change-balance-of-power-in-middle-east-sources-say?lite) that at least three al Qaeda operatives participated in the communication. On August 9, CNN reported (http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2013/08/09/details-emerge-about-talk-between-al-qaeda-leaders/) that the operatives communicated through “some kind of encrypted messaging system, with multiple points of entry to allow for various parties to join in.”

CNN also quoted U.S. officials saying the communication was not a “traditional conference call,” taking issue with how The Daily Beast characterized the communication in the original report. On August 9, Bloomberg News reported (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-08-09/al-qaeda-militants-die-in-yemen-drone-strike-sahwa-says.html) that the embassy closings were prompted by the intercept of a communication between Zawahiri, Wuhayshi, and “other regional terrorist commanders.”

Around the time of the courier’s arrest, U.S. intelligence agencies also obtained what was believed to be coded messages that signaled an attack was imminent, a story first reported by CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/13/us/terror-alert-code-words) .

American intelligence agencies have cracked al Qaeda’s secure online communications before. In 2007, U.S. intelligence agencies intercepted a speech from Osama bin Laden (http://www.nysun.com/foreign/qaeda-goes-dark-after-a-us-slip/64163/) . That channel was compromised after details of the speech leaked to the U.S. media.

Since the September 11 attacks, U.S. intelligence agencies have monitored a series of password-protected websites, Internet forums, and other kinds of communications. But al Qaeda has developed advanced encryption methods and a proprietary technology allowing the group to conduct remote meetings, including video, voice, and chat capabilities.

“The technology is there for al Qaeda to have an encrypted cyber Web conference that exists over instant-message software with each other in a onetime-only chat room that disappears as soon as the conference is over,” said Laith al-Khouri, a senior consultant at Flashpoint Global Partners, an intelligence consulting group. “This can also carry video from the participants if they are using instant-messaging software that has the functionality of a video teleconference. I believe al Qaeda has that capability.”

LEC again — an entertaining article , yes . But , you idiots on the inside . Can ‘ t  you idiots learn to keep your damn mouths shut . This information is intelligence and national security related for a reason . It needs to be kept secret . I should not be able to read it . Neither should others . Use your heads . Think . Keep your damn mouths shut , for god ‘ s sake !

… Is Nidal Hasan Gone nuts ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,August 13th,2013

.. it is said that a person who represents himself in court has a terrorist killer for a client, or something like that :

The military judge presiding over the court-martial of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan ruled that he can continue to represent himself, denying a bid from his legal advisors to take over his defense amid concerns the former Army psychologist is trying to sink his own case to get the death penalty.

The lawyers assisting Hasan, called “standby attorneys,” claim he is trying to get the death penalty and have said it would be “morally repugnant” to help him achieve such a sentence. Hasan admitted in his opening statement that he was the shooter, appearing to be trying to get himself convicted.

..  If Hasan really wants the death penalty, he ought to be able to simply cop a plea . Unfortunately or not , it is a death penalty case . The Uniform Code for Military Justice [the U.C.M.J.] does not allow that in a capital case . Otherwise , the UCMJ would be happy to oblige him. No, what he wants is to put on some fancy legal theater and then get put to death. Which is more important? Probably the theater.

.. In order to play his own part in this , Hasan must be seen — in his eyes and in the eyes of his al-Qaeda comrades — to be the master, the conductor of his own trial. He will put on a glorious show, culminating in a glorious death for Allah. This has little to do with suicide-by-courtroom, and everything to do with an agent of radical Islam bending a Western institution to his will. Again.

… You Have to Be Kidding ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,August 5th,2013

.. Cutting and Running is not the Answer .

.. Stand Your Ground , just might be the answer .

.. The closing of embassies all over the Arab World is waaay beyond the pale . You do not deal with a security threat by digging a hole in the ground , and hiding your head in it . You begin to deal with the threat or threats . You take a proactive approach , and go on the offensive .

.. I thought that POTUS ‘ foreign policy is weak as a spaghetti noodle , but not this weak . The bad guys will just wait us out , and hit us when we least expect it . They will do it when it most suits them , and when it least suits us . Get serious , folks .

.. You have to move forward with a proactive approach . You need to give your intelligence services the tools to do the job that they were brought together to do . One also should give the intelligence services firm direction and guidance on what is expected , but not to micromanage what they do .  Give them room to do the job that they need to do . Be upfront . Defend what they do , and do not lowjack them with legal probes for past actions for which , directly or indirectly , they had the legal authority to do .

.. Make the bad guys respect them , and fear you . Then , they will know that retaliation will be swift , sure , and certain .

.. Also , be more careful about how one elects political leaders . It applies to senators , congresscritters , as well as to POTUS . Weak policy and weak leaders is asking for trouble .

… How Many Fibs , How Short a Time …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,June 25th,2013

.. to be frankly honest , it has taken a extraordinarily inordinate amount of time for people to understand that they are being given , at best , half –  truths on everything from Benghazi to Obamacare .

.. This lack of believability has greatly damaged the image of voters on big government , to the dismay of liberal statists.

In foreign policy, the credibility problem plagues him. Consider all the things

Obama has asserted that simply aren’t true :

[-] Israel

[-] the Middle East “so-called” peace process

[-] the “Russian Reset”

the Arms Treaty was a one – sided deal , and now l ‘ affaire Snowden …

[-] Sanctions are working against Iran.

[-] Bashar al-Assad was a reformer before he was on the verge of being ousted before we did not know who to back before we took a half – step two years too late.

[-] Benghazi was the result of some video.

[-] We could exit Iraq with no status of forces agreement without threatening gains there .

[-] We could work with Mohamed Morsi.

[-] China is a constructive operator on the world stage .

[-] Al – Quaeda is out of business , especially without Osama Bin Laden

[-] Vladimir Putin’s election was praiseworthy.

… it goes On and On and On and On …

.. One can understand that Obama may have not been intentionally misleading . Well , to be honest , given the actions (Medvedev , Russian Reset , Iraq , soft on the Palestinians / hard on Israel) , I think that POTUS is a pathological liar .

… Are You Kidding Me ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 27th,2013

Victoria Nuland , the hack who had an active hand in monkeying around with the Benghazi – related talking points , is getting a promotion ???

.. What a joke !

… She deserves an indictment , a conviction , and a loooong prison sentence . Not a new job . What a frickin ‘ joke . A hack gets promoted , while professional and career Foreign Service Officers like Greg Hicks are sent (likely , permanently) to the bench . How ridiculous is that .

[h/t — WhiteHouseDossier.com]

The  State Department spokeswoman who played a pivotal role in deleting portions of the Benghazi talking points has been tapped by President Obama for a plum new post, bagging a nomination to become assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.

Nuland is a career foreign service officer who had held many high-level positions, including under George W. Bush. But her nomination to handle the European portfolio will likely be seen by Republicans as an example of the president flipping the bird their way.

Senate confirmation in the current environment would seem unlikely, at best.

During the process of whittling the original CIA talking points down, a reference to participation in the Benghazi attack by al Qaeda-linked elements was deleted. Nuland had expressed “serious concerns” about mentioning the terrorists. And she also asserted that including references to previous attacks against foreigners in Benghazi “could be abused by members to beat the State Department for not paying attention to Agency warnings.”

Nuland was particularly aggressive, pursuing the matter until the concerns of her superiors were satisfied.
