… I differ from my Church , too [#the death penalty]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,October 22nd,2016

.. I am a Roman Catholic , too , like the governor of my state , John Kasich ..

.. like him , I am at odds with my Church on the Death Penalty . Yes , it is a profound moral question . But it is a matter of justice , not revenge ..

.. the people of the State of Ohio have stated in our Constitution that we want the death penalty to be authorized as a method of punishment . Now that it is , we deserve that it be carried out in an effective and efficient manner . The radicals would stop that …

.. [h/t — Newsmax.com]..
.. [link] to the news article ..

.. Our Nation ‘ s Constitution carries a similar message . It does not allow cruel and unusual punishments to be carried out , but it does allow others . The Death Penalty is specifically stated that it is neither cruel nor unususal . So , it is the job of the courts to carry to people ‘ s judgement forward ..

.. let ‘ s get on with it ….

That means they do not have to do business with them . , especially if their action violates their religious beliefs …

… The Iran – Nukes Deal is a Obscene Joke [A Sham] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,June 16th,2016

.. y’all know where I stand . I think that this thing is one big obscene joke .

.. I then received in my inbox a report excoriating the interim deal. The report came from a task force put together by JINSA , an international pro-Israel organization, and was co-authored by respected conservative foreign policy guru Eric Edelman and Dennis Ross . Curious that Ross would not give them an appreciation for how we got to this point and how entirely misguided is the administration’s current approach.

.. The task force’s executive summary explains the depth of the concern about the interim deal (the “JPA” or the Joint Plan of Action):

We believe the JPA is deeply flawed because the combination of interim and final concessions it contains undermine[s] the effort to prevent a nuclear Iran.

Our previous report, issued in the run-up to Geneva, spelled out six principles to which any deal must conform to protect U.S. national security interests. To be acceptable, we argued any deal must require Iran to resolve outstanding international concerns, adhere to international legal requirements and roll back its nuclear program. It would also need to put in place a strict inspections regime and clear deadlines for Iran to uphold its commitments. Finally, we made the case that, to obtain such a deal, the United States would have to negotiate and enforce it from a position of strength, to make it unmistakably plain to Tehran that it has the most to lose from the failure of diplomacy.

The rest of the report explains the ways in which the interim deal is a setback.

.. The most serious problem is the one Congress has already identified: “The JPA will cause U.S. leverage against Iran to diminish while a comprehensive settlement is negotiated and implemented. This is because the deal has begun unlacing the international sanctions regime that initially helped force Iran to the negotiating table. In addition, the deal has been interpreted by both the Rouhani and Obama administrations as obliging the United States not to legislate further sanctions – or even to pass legislation that threatens to implement further sanctions in the event Iran fails to fulfill its obligations.” We therefore have been put on the road to capitulation…

.. In essence, we give up a good deal of leverage in exchange for a deal that “does not place strict enough limits on Iran’s enrichment program to deny it nuclear weapons capability. It does not begin rolling back Iran’s enrichment progress before the mid-2014 deadline. Instead it caps certain enrichment levels, stockpiles, centrifuges and the plutonium track while a comprehensive agreement is worked out. It also allows Iran to build up its nuclear program to temporarily build down its enrichment levels and stockpiles. It does not cover work on weaponization or delivery systems. Iran could thus continue approaching nuclear weapons capability during this time, all the more so if the interim deal is renewed. Afterward, the JPA does not place permanent limits on Iran’s enrichment. This would do little to nothing to prevent a nuclear Iran over the long term.” In fact, it recognizes enrichment will be subject to mutual agreement, which Iran (or any reader) would assume preserves its claimed “right to enrich.”

.. If we have essentially given up on dismantling Iran’s entire nuclear program, the task force argues that, at the very least, we must reach a final deal in six months that allows no enrichment above 5 percent, a full inspection regime, strict limits on the number of centrifuges and the dismantling of Fordow.

.. We would hope Congress pays close attention . But even this report leaves me with some questions , specifically :

  • Does the president think we can disable the threat of a Iran as a “threshold nuclear power”?
  • If not, how did he remain in the administration and how did he not alert the country?
  • If he does still believe that is possible, why is he pursuing a course of action that will make that goal harder to reach

In short, the JINSA report is invaluable in telling us what is wrong with the JPA , but Mr. Ross should tell us what is wrong with the president. He knows him, and he began this policy that has led to ruin. The administration has done exactly the opposite of what is required and hampered our ability to attain a goal that the country thought it shared. If out of design or ignorance the president is moving us to an alternative of containment or a nuclear-capable Iran, we need to know about it.

That is really the key to determining what the administration’s real policy is here and how and when Congress needs to act. At issue here is a nuclear-capable Iran. .

… POTUS supports Hamas [#is he insane] ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,June 19th,2014

.. POTUS and his cronies support the so – called Palestinian Unity government . This is one that includes a terrorist group [Hamas] that is completely and thoroughly dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the mass murder of all Israelis . So what do these goonie birds do ? ..

.. they kidnap 3 innocents from the West Bank [Judea and Sumaria] . One of whom is an American citizen .

.. [h/t –– TruthRevolt]..
.. [link] to the blog news ..

.. what is Obama thinking ? In particular , giving those bastards financial and any kind of moral support . Most of all , and most galling , is what POTUS is doing is against our law . It prohibits the financial and other support of terrorist groups and whatnot …

Funding Hamas is a direct violation of United States law:

(a) Prohibited Activities.—

(1) Unlawful conduct.— Whoever knowingly provides material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization, or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 15 years, or both, and, if the death of any person results, shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life. To violate this paragraph, a person must have knowledge that the organization is a designated terrorist organization (as defined in subsection (g)(6)), that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorist activity (as defined in section 212(a)(3)(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), or that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorism (as defined in section 140(d)(2) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1988 and 1989).

On Wednesday, a day before the kidnapping, 88 senators sent a bi-partisan letter to the Obama administration demanding that the United States cease its assistance to the government:

Dear Mr. President:

We are appreciative of your Administration’s dedication to achieving a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unfortunately, the recent formation of a Palestinian Authority unity government supported by Hamas, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization that has never publicly accepted the Quartet principles, represents a serious setback to efforts to achieve peace. We are gravely concerned that the formation of this government and President Abbas’ renewed effort to upgrade the status of the Palestinians within international organizations will jeopardize direct negotiations with Israel to achieve a two-state solution.

By its actions and inaction, Hamas has demonstrated it is not a partner for peace. Hamas has openly called for Israel’s destruction and last month Hamas leaders again repeated their refusal to meet recognized international demands: recognition of Israel, renunciation of terror, and acceptance of previous Israel-PLO agreements.

Recent events have consequences as to U.S. assistance to the Palestinian Authority as provided for in the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006 and restrictions contained in the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2014, including prohibiting foreign assistance to Hamas or any power-sharing government of which Hamas is a member or over which Hamas has undue influence. These troubling developments, including the role played by Hamas in the formation of the government, have undermined Congressional support for U.S. assistance to the Palestinians. Any assistance should only be provided when we have confidence that this new government is in full compliance with the restrictions contained in current law. We urge you to continue to impress on President Abbas the need for him to cease any alliance with terrorist organizations such as Hamas and to return to the negotiating table with Israel.

… Easter # 3 for a Prisoner of the Castros …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,April 28th,2014

.. I picked this one up from a favourite blog of mine , BabaluBlog . It was written for the WallStreetJournal byanother favourite of mine , Mary Anastasia O ‘ Grady ..

.. [h/t — BabaluBlog]..
.. [link] to M.A.O. ‘ s column from the W.S.J. …

Easter No. 3 for a Prisoner of Castro
Bearing witness to Cuba’s political persecution costs Sonia Garro her freedom.

Christians the world over celebrated the resurrection of their savior on Sunday with worship services and family gatherings. Thirty-eight-year-old Sonia Garro shares the faith too, but she spent the holiday in a Cuban dungeon as a prisoner of conscience, just as she has for the past two years.

Ms. Garro is a member of the Christian dissident group Ladies in White, started in Havana in 2003 by sisters, wives and mothers of political prisoners to peacefully protest the unjust incarceration of their loved ones. It has since expanded to other parts of the country and added many recruits. The group’s growing popularity has worried the Castros, and they have responded with increasing brutality.

Cuba’s military government wants us to believe that the Brothers Fidel and Raul Castro are “reforming.” To buy that line you have to pretend that Ms. Garro and her sisters in Christ don’t exist. Of course that’s often the impression one gets from Havana-based reporters working for foreign media outlets.

They’ve been invited into the country not to serve the truth but to serve the dictatorship. Fortunately, there are brave and independent Cuban journalists who continue to tell the Ladies’ story, despite scant resources.

In the late winter of 2012, Cubans were looking forward to a visit from Pope Benedict XVI and the Ladies were lobbying the Vatican for an audience. Their relentless pleading was embarrassing the dictatorship, which had been beating them in the streets on their way to Sunday Mass for almost a decade. It was also making the Church, which had already cut its own deal with the regime on the terms of the visit, look bad. On the weekend of March 17 Castro sent the Ladies a warning by locking up some 70 of their members.

Most of those detained, including leader Berta Soler, had been freed by the time the pontiff touched down in Cuba nine days later, but Ms. Garro was not. Benedict celebrated some Masses, did photo ops with the despots and left.

It was a clever strategy: The world saw the release of the many Ladies, which obscured the continued detention of the one. That one—poor, black and not well known internationally—serves, to this day, as a constant reminder of the wrath Castro will bring down on anyone in the barrios who gets out of line.

By 2012 Ms. Garro already had experience with state violence. Her record of counterrevolutionary activities included running a recreation center in her home for troubled youths. For that she was twice beaten by government-sanctioned mobs. She suffered a broken nose in police detention in 2010.

When security agents took her home to put her under house arrest ahead of the pope’s visit, she was met by a mob sent to harass her. Her husband, Ramon Alejandro Muñoz, had climbed to the roof and was chanting anti-dictatorship slogans. Two neighbors took the couple’s side. Special-forces police were called in. They raided the home, shot Ms. Garro in the leg with rubber bullets and hauled the couple and two neighbors to jail.

Eighteen months later prosecutors charged Ms. Garro with assault, attempted murder and public disorder. Her husband and one neighbor, Eugenio Hernández, are accused of attempted murder and public disorder. The prosecution is seeking a 10-year prison sentence for Ms. Garro, 14 years for Mr. Muñoz, and 11 years for Mr. Hernández.

Anyone who has ever read about Soviet show trials will recognize the state’s case. The prosecutors claim that Messrs. Muñoz and Hernández were both on the roof and knew a police officer could have been killed when they threw things to try to stop him from climbing a ladder to reach them.

The regime alleges that the couple had been planning street disturbances. The “evidence” confiscated from their home included bottles, machetes, rebar and cardboard protest signs. The state claims that containers with fuel found in the home were Molotov cocktails.

Every household item or piece of scrap found in a poor Cuban household is considered a weapon when the state wants to convict a prisoner. By its logic the frying pan and the iron should have been cited too. With good aim, they can be deadly. As to the combustibles inside the home, Ms. Garro’s sister Yamilet Garro told independent journalist Augusto Cesar San Martín Albistur, “the items were for lighting during the blackouts that are quite common in the area.” For Castro, the most dangerous items were the antigovernment signs.

Ms. Garro’s real crime is her refusal to surrender her soul to the state. That makes her an exemplary Christian but a lousy revolutionary. The peril she presents is showing Cubans how to be both.

… Congratulations to Both !! [canonization of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,April 27th,2014

.. Saint John XXIII and Saint John Paul II !!

.. today , both former Popes and successors of Saint Peter are to be canonized at the Vatican in Vatican City .

.. I can understand that it is going to be a ” zoo ” there in Rome and the surrounding regions . Pope John XXIII was from the Lombardy region in the north of Italy . It will draw a significant crowd from there , but not as much as one might think , since John XXIII has been gone for 51 years … for John Paul II , it is a very , very different matter …

.. [h/t — Newsmax]..
.. [link] to Edward Pentin ‘ s column …

.. His Holiness John Paul II was chosen Pope from a Poland that was not free . Poland at the time was a part of the Soviet Orbit , and a part of the Warsaw Pact . Now , the Soviet Union is gone , the Warsaw Pact is gone , and Poland is free . Better yet , Poland is probably the leading light of the post – Soviet nations , and with this event , you can guarantee many hundreds of thousands , potentially one or two million or more religious pilgrim will come to Rome and Vatican City for this event …

.. also , back in Poland , once it happens , I believe there will be a race to create a significant number of Catholic parishes (new ones) named after Saint John Paul II . I am not sure that the Archdioceses in Poland will allow existing parishes to change their names , but who knows ? I also think that the Archbishop must approve , plus the reigning prelate [ a Cardinal ] in Poland , as well ..

… Social Conservatives Do Care about Marriage …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,April 25th,2014

.. as do I …

.. that is why no – fault divorce should be torn dorn and abolished ..

.. [h/t — theAmericanConservative]..
.. [link] to the blog post ..

.. the idea is to make people think about what marriage means … what it is  , what it means ,  what it is for , why to get married , and why to end a marriage …

.. probably one of the worst ideas was no – fault divorce . It allows two people  [a man and a woman , thank you very much] to end their relationship without realizing why ? …

.. if you have made a mistake , one of the most important things is that most important choice : why ?

.. the problem with no – fault divorce is that it allows you to avoid understanding and thinking about that choice . If you do not think about it , you just might forget about your history . If you do , then you just might be doomed to repeat that mistake …

.. the thing is not that it makes divorce a hassle . The idea of things like a cooling – off period , marriage classes (like my church , the Roman Catholic Church has) , and the elimination of no – fault divorce is that it makes people do one important thing …

.. T – H – I – N – K ..

.. Governments give sanction to marriage and to divorce . We have to deal with the results of both , most importantly , with children and child support , abuse , infidelity , and whatnot … . So , how a marriage comes about is the government ‘ s business , to a certain point . Given the appalling divorce rate , and the damage that divorce does to a family .. to be honest , how a divorce comes about is also in part a government ‘ s business .

.. there is not an establishment clause in the Constitution . Yes , it is important in this argument . It is a prohibition against a state –  sanctioned and ” established ” church , i.e. , as was the Church of England is in the U.K. . Does it matter ? Yes ..

.. Many people get married in a Church . They generally do not get divorced in one . However , the foundation of our law is our morality . A great deal of the foundation of our morality comes from the sense of right and wrong . The largest part , though , comes from our sense of faith . Even an atheist has faith , believe it or not .

.. We need to make couples think about who they are , why they get married , and why they get divorced . No , it is not making things a ” hassle . ” Society has that right to expect that of civilized and moral people to behave themselves in a civil and moral way , by thinking about what they are doing , and not just acting on their feelings …

.. Sure , the feelings of love are a damn important part of a relationship , and of marriage . But , it is not the only part . There are more practical considerations , folks .. Such as whether it is the right thing to do , or whether we should . That is the idea of marriage classes , in basic … to be sure and certain as is possible …

.. especially , in order to avoid the ” D ” word , if at all possible …

… Cleveland & Ohio Muslims get Prissy [Gay Games ads] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,April 23rd,2014

.. yea , you heard it right ! ..

.. the Gay Games are coming to Cleveland .

.. more specifically , Greater Cleveland and Akron ..

.. [h/t — PamelaGeller]..
.. [link] to the blog news ..

.. this is my neck of the world , folks . So , a little more explanation is in order ..

.. a lot of the cabbies in Greater Cleveland and in Greater Akron are Muslim . No , not all of them . Just quite a few of them . A great deal of them are emigrés to the area , trying to make their way , earn a decent wage , provide for their families , and , if possible , bring more family  members to the area . Who would not do that ?

.. the problem comes from the ads for the Gay Games . No , I am not wild about them . I am a devout Roman Catholic , and I most definitely not believe in the morality of homosexuality . The Cabbies do not , either . So , they are refusing to drive cabs with the ads on them …

.. I can understand some of it , but I think that they are being ridiculous . The event will bring a huge number of participants and other tourists to the area . The ads are designed to promote the event . Cabs are some of the best things to sell ads on , because they are ” rolling billboards . ”

.. tell me what you think …

.. there have been public protests in Albequerque over the death of a homeless man in the mountains outside of  the city . So , affairs in the area are a bit tense , to say the least . Folks have protested the use of police power that caused the death of the fellow …

.. you  obviously can have a beef about what  had happened . But being provocative in the protest is never a good idea . What I am referring to is that some protestors carried an American flag , upside down , through the protest area in town …

.. bad move . An American Flag carried upside down on a flagpole or standard is the sign of distress . People have done it , but to do  it in a protest  is not a  bright move . Several off-duty Marines (home on leave , no doubt) intervened , saved the colours , and cleaned up the flag ,…..

.. these bastards are trying to mobilize Muslims as a political force , but hide themselves and other radical groups behind an umbrella group , ” the Council of Major Muslim Organizations . ”  That way , the Council can take the front in politics , while the radicals can work to subvert the system from within …

… Boycott Mozilla !! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,April 4th,2014

.. especially its browser products , Mozilla Firefox …

.. you might ask , why ?

.. [h/t — MoeLane]..
.. [link] to the blog post ..

.. because Mozilla succumbed to political correctness and forced out its C.E.O. . You might think , Whoopie , big [bleeping] deal …

.. well , in this case , it is . Brendan Eich chose his personal beliefs over his job . He was forced out . He was pushed out . Why ? He contributed to the campaign for California ‘ s Proposition 8 [pro – traditional marriage] … and that one was six years ago , in 2008 ….

.. so , he contributed to an issue campaign . It seems these days that there is a determined effort by radical gays , lesblians , and lefties to harass , intimidate , and beat down anyone that disagrees with them . That especially includes those who are involed in things that are supposdedly ” special to gays and lezzies , like Mozilla , and also have contributed time or money to causes like Proposition 8 ….

.. this guy helped co – found the firm . He was just recently the C.T.O. (Chief Technology Officer) . Also , he was the inventor of JavaScript . For those of you who follow sports events on the web , JavaScript helps greatly for it to be followed in real time . And this is the way his old firm repays him ????

.. so , yes , these morons are using tactics that are far , far worse than McCarthyite in style or purpose … and they need to be called on it ….

.. they need to be hit in the pocketbook …. so hit them , and hit them hard . Boycott Mozilla , and dump its FireFox browser …

… with All Due Respect , Mr. Carter …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,April 1st,2014

.. your pronouncements on religion are a crock of [bleep]…

.. former President Jimmy Carter is a Baptist . He is also extraordinarily preachy . He has become especially so ever since he left the Presidency in January of 1981 . Why ???

.. very few people take him seriously , anymore . Especially in the Middle East . Mr. Carter has clearly taken the side of the Palestinians in the Israeli – Palestinian conflict . But what he has said in attacking several religions in these instances now is far beyond the pale …

… It is the DemoCraps who are the Intolerant Ones [as regards Dr. Condoleeza Rice] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,March 26th,2014

.. Condoleeza Rice is one of our country ‘ s most honoured and distinguished professionals . She has an up – from – the – bootstraps story that beats none . She is an amazing person , an amazing woman .

.. I am saddened by the fact that she chose not to become a mother . She instead devoted her life and her energies to her profession and to her career . She would have made a fantastic mother , and still will make a fantastic mother – figure …

.. How Rutgers University ‘ s faculty can behave the way that it is is beyond me . Dr. Rice has been chosen to be a commencement speaker at Rutgers ‘ graduation ceremony in May , and the faculty are in a lather about it . All because of her service in George W. Bush ‘ s  administration …

.. How  sick . She  is the first Black Secretary of State , and the first Black National Security Adviser . If John McCain had any smarts , he would have chose her and not Sarah Palin as the Vice – Presidential nominee in 2008 . She is easily far more qualified to be President than our current occupant of the White House [Barack Obama] .
