… An Amazing and Dynamic Speaker [#Dr. Ben Carson]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,January 14th,2017

.. this is a link to the Defending the Dream summit . It is well worth you while …

.. [link] to the speech …

.. it will be very interesting to see whether he runs for President or not . I think that he just might ….

— [update] — Dr. Ben Carson did indeed run for POTUS . But ,  unfortunately , his campaign has not proven out to be as  well run and as dynamic as he wanted or he  desired …

.. Carson does indeed have a future on the national stage . In what manner or fashion will largely be up to him . He would make an excellent VP pick or possibly even a cabinet secretary . I am not sure , though that he may want that . He will take stock of his first foray into presidential politics , evaluate what went right , what did not , and make the necessary changes …. Ben Carson is no one ‘ s fool .  he will learn , and learn quickly ..

… It is a Teaching Moment for the Church [#marriage]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,December 15th,2016

.. and , as usual , the LameStream media missed it , completely …

.. the Holy Father was trying to send multiple messages as Bishop of Rome , as well as Pope , to the world at large by officiating at a marriage ceremony . A Pope doing this , especially in public , is extraordinarily rare [Saint John Paul II was the last to do so , in 1998] ….

.. [h/t — HotAir.com]..

.. yes , he is trying to send a message of inclusiveness to the church and to the world . It does not mean that he is altering church doctrine , though . What he is doing is altering [sometimes greatly] how it is presented and prepared …

.. each of the cardinals that is coming to the Synod , in addition to the Bishops , is themselves a Bishop . Pope Francis I is trying to lead and send more than one message to more than one audience in what he is doing and what he is trying to do ….

… What POTUS owes to US [#as a nation]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,November 28th,2016

.. what does he think that our Special Forces are ? Chopped Liver ?? … They are there , they are on the ground , and they are in combat ….

… Not Hardly ! [#Boston Globe editorial]][#iran nuclear negotiations]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 9th,2016

.. the Boston Globe seems to have a serious burr in its saddle .

.. their editorial page had a serious temper tantrum tirade over the letter that the Senate GOP sent to the leaders of Iran over the Nuclear Sanctions negotiations . They thought that they were ripping the seaators a new one over it all . Well , they ended up looking like a bunch of powerless idiots in the process …

.. the Senators are not a bunch of mindless knomes . They are not put there in the Senate for window dressing . They aer public servants themselves . They aer also part of a co — equal branch of government . so they have every right to speak their minds . They can do it individually , or they can do it collectively . The proceedings over the Kyoto Treaty debate are a classic case in point …

.. [h/t — BostonGlobe.com]..
.. [link] to the editorial …

.. Bill Clinton ‘ s people were negotiating a potential treaty over the global warming debate . It was highly unpopular to say the least . Even the DummyCraps did not like it , to a man and a woman . So , since the GOP controlled the chamber , and after lack of consultation ., the Senate GOP leadership decided to send Clinton a message : a Sense of the Senate resolution , with debate by all sides included [in public] …

.. well , that resolution was adopted by a 95 to 0 vote . The Kyoto Treaty would have been thoroughly rejected and discredited here in the United States . Ergo , it was never submitted to the Us sENATE for ratification . The Administration well knoew what would happen if it did …

… It does not need to be Just Once [#or , for one year]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,May 6th,2016

.. it needs to be consistently , and for the right reasons …

.. yes , black voters do not vote for the GOP . That is unfortunate , because the DemoCraps take them entirely for granted . Worse for blacks , the Dems treat them like dirt , and even worse yet , treat them like idiots …

.. what Steven A. Smith suggests is good , but it is only a start . Just voting for the GOP for once , or for one year , is not enough ….

.. [h/t — TruthRevolt.org]..
.. [link] to the blog post // video clip ..

.. it also needs to be for the right reasons . Blacks , especially younger blacks , are far more conservative than their elders . They are much more willing to support conservative blacks , and to vote for the GOP . It is still hard for them to do , but as their interests converge with Republicans , they will eventually start to do so , and for the right reasons …

… Thank You , Benjamin Watson ! [#Darren Wilson case]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,December 1st,2015

.. Ben Watson is a fine NFL player , and evidently is a fine and decent family man …

.. also , I am a fan of his . He used to play for the New England Patriots [no , not a fan of] , and then for my favorite NFL team , the Cleveland Browns . Watson has since moved on , going to the new Orleans Saints …

.. Watson must have been playing in the Monday Night Football game last Monday [11/24/2014] , when the grand jury decision broke . He wrote down some very priescient thoughts , ones that I want to quote verbatim , because they are that on target …

.. [h/t — theRightScoop.com]..
.. [link] to the blog post // quote …

.. Watson ‘ s quote : ….

At some point while I was playing or preparing to play Monday Night Football, the news broke about the Ferguson Decision. After trying to figure out how I felt, I decided to write it down. Here are my thoughts:

I’M ANGRY because the stories of injustice that have been passed down for generations seem to be continuing before our very eyes.

I’M FRUSTRATED, because pop culture, music and movies glorify these types of police citizen altercations and promote an invincible attitude that continues to get young men killed in real life, away from safety movie sets and music studios.

I’M FEARFUL because in the back of my mind I know that although I’m a law abiding citizen I could still be looked upon as a “threat” to those who don’t know me. So I will continue to have to go the extra mile to earn the benefit of the doubt.

I’M EMBARRASSED because the looting, violent protests, and law breaking only confirm, and in the minds of many, validate, the stereotypes and thus the inferior treatment.

I’M SAD, because another young life was lost from his family, the racial divide has widened, a community is in shambles, accusations, insensitivity hurt and hatred are boiling over, and we may never know the truth about what happened that day.

I’M SYMPATHETIC, because I wasn’t there so I don’t know exactly what happened. Maybe Darren Wilson acted within his rights and duty as an officer of the law and killed Michael Brown in self defense like any of us would in the circumstance. Now he has to fear the backlash against himself and his loved ones when he was only doing his job. What a horrible thing to endure. OR maybe he provoked Michael and ignited the series of events that led to him eventually murdering the young man to prove a point.

I’M OFFENDED, because of the insulting comments I’ve seen that are not only insensitive but dismissive to the painful experiences of others.

I’M CONFUSED, because I don’t know why it’s so hard to obey a policeman. You will not win!!! And I don’t know why some policeman abuse their power. Power is a responsibility, not a weapon to brandish and lord over the populace.

I’M INTROSPECTIVE, because sometimes I want to take “our” side without looking at the facts in situations like these. Sometimes I feel like it’s us against them. Sometimes I’m just as prejudiced as people I point fingers at. And that’s not right. How can I look at white skin and make assumptions but not want assumptions made about me? That’s not right.

I’M HOPELESS, because I’ve lived long enough to expect things like this to continue to happen. I’m not surprised and at some point my little children are going to inherit the weight of being a minority and all that it entails.

I’M HOPEFUL, because I know that while we still have race issues in America, we enjoy a much different normal than those of our parents and grandparents. I see it in my personal relationships with teammates, friends and mentors. And it’s a beautiful thing.

I’M ENCOURAGED, because ultimately the problem is not a SKIN problem, it is a SIN problem. SIN is the reason we rebel against authority. SIN is the reason we abuse our authority. SIN is the reason we are racist, prejudiced and lie to cover for our own. SIN is the reason we riot, loot and burn.

BUT I’M ENCOURAGED because God has provided a solution for sin through the his son Jesus and with it, a transformed heart and mind. One that’s capable of looking past the outward and seeing what’s truly important in every human being. The cure for the Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and Eric Garner tragedies is not education or exposure. It’s the Gospel. So, finally, I’M ENCOURAGED because the Gospel gives mankind hope.

.. well done , and well said ! …

… States can Set some Limits [#vanity license plates]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,May 14th,2015

.. but Texas really goofed on this one ..

.. States should be able to set some simple guidelines , ones that everyone has to follow . One is a minimum [reasonable] number , or one that is financially guaranteed by a bond by the group in question . Subject material is another …

.. [h/t — TruthRevolt]..
.. [link] to the blog news post …

.. States are notorious for their censorship of license plate messages . They are especially on the hunt for ones that are obscene , no matter what the language . California got filleted recently for letting one through that was patently obscene , but in Vietnamese . San Jose [Ca] is a heavily Vietnamese area , and they easily understood the meaning , one that Caltrans definitely whiffed on . So , they do not like them …

Sons of Confederate Veterans [Texas] license plate

.. But , censoring one like this for the Sons of Confederate Veterans is going a bit too far . It is clearly not obscene . A flag is clearly within good taste . So , Texas , what gives ?? …

.. The Supremes are going to fix this issue for Texas and many other states , and , if need be , set some rules , if the legislature does not beat them to it …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,July 23rd,2014

.. He is a Vietnam veteran , one who lost his legs when he stepped on a land mine in – country in 1971 .

.. He has had to fight to keep his wheelchair in good repair . Which , with the VA these days , is not easy …

.. but , three employees of a Lowe ‘ s Home Improvement Center on Staten Island recently really stepped up to the call …

.. these folks saw Michael ‘ s wheelchair going to heck in a handbasket . They also heard his story of battling with the VA over keeping it , or trying to , in good repair …. So , they stepped up .

.. they said to their store mgmt. that they were not going to leave for the day until Michael ‘ s chair was in excellent repair . Boy , oh , boy , and they did it …

.. from SLive.com …

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — From as close as Manhattan and Staten Island to the far reaches of Afghanistan, hearts have been touched by an Advance story about disabled Vietnam veteran Michael Sulsona of Graniteville. He was helped recently by three Lowe’s Home Improvement Center employees after his wheelchair fell apart in the Mariners Harbor store.

Sulsona, who lost both of his legs after stepping on a land mine in Vietnam 40 years ago, was the recipient of a random act of kindness on July 7 after his wheelchair broke. After seeing what happened, three employees at the store told him, “we’re not leaving here until the wheelchair is fixed,” and proceeded to repair the broken parts.

The Advance initially published a letter Sulsona wrote to the “good news editor” thanking the Lowe’s employees’ for their good deed. The Advance then wrote subsequent stories about Sulsona.

Soon after, dozens of news and social media outlets picked up the newspaper’s stories about Sulsona, who had been waiting two years for a replacement wheelchair from the Veterans Affairs (VA). While the VA came through this week with a new wheelchair for Sulsona, his initial story of appreciation went global.

.. LEC here again — thank you , Michael Sulsona , for your service and your dedication to our country . Also , thank you to Lowe ‘ s Home improvement Centers for those three people that they brought on staff that stepped up to the call …
