… The Iran – Nukes Deal is a Obscene Joke [A Sham] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,June 16th,2016

.. y’all know where I stand . I think that this thing is one big obscene joke .

.. I then received in my inbox a report excoriating the interim deal. The report came from a task force put together by JINSA , an international pro-Israel organization, and was co-authored by respected conservative foreign policy guru Eric Edelman and Dennis Ross . Curious that Ross would not give them an appreciation for how we got to this point and how entirely misguided is the administration’s current approach.

.. The task force’s executive summary explains the depth of the concern about the interim deal (the “JPA” or the Joint Plan of Action):

We believe the JPA is deeply flawed because the combination of interim and final concessions it contains undermine[s] the effort to prevent a nuclear Iran.

Our previous report, issued in the run-up to Geneva, spelled out six principles to which any deal must conform to protect U.S. national security interests. To be acceptable, we argued any deal must require Iran to resolve outstanding international concerns, adhere to international legal requirements and roll back its nuclear program. It would also need to put in place a strict inspections regime and clear deadlines for Iran to uphold its commitments. Finally, we made the case that, to obtain such a deal, the United States would have to negotiate and enforce it from a position of strength, to make it unmistakably plain to Tehran that it has the most to lose from the failure of diplomacy.

The rest of the report explains the ways in which the interim deal is a setback.

.. The most serious problem is the one Congress has already identified: “The JPA will cause U.S. leverage against Iran to diminish while a comprehensive settlement is negotiated and implemented. This is because the deal has begun unlacing the international sanctions regime that initially helped force Iran to the negotiating table. In addition, the deal has been interpreted by both the Rouhani and Obama administrations as obliging the United States not to legislate further sanctions – or even to pass legislation that threatens to implement further sanctions in the event Iran fails to fulfill its obligations.” We therefore have been put on the road to capitulation…

.. In essence, we give up a good deal of leverage in exchange for a deal that “does not place strict enough limits on Iran’s enrichment program to deny it nuclear weapons capability. It does not begin rolling back Iran’s enrichment progress before the mid-2014 deadline. Instead it caps certain enrichment levels, stockpiles, centrifuges and the plutonium track while a comprehensive agreement is worked out. It also allows Iran to build up its nuclear program to temporarily build down its enrichment levels and stockpiles. It does not cover work on weaponization or delivery systems. Iran could thus continue approaching nuclear weapons capability during this time, all the more so if the interim deal is renewed. Afterward, the JPA does not place permanent limits on Iran’s enrichment. This would do little to nothing to prevent a nuclear Iran over the long term.” In fact, it recognizes enrichment will be subject to mutual agreement, which Iran (or any reader) would assume preserves its claimed “right to enrich.”

.. If we have essentially given up on dismantling Iran’s entire nuclear program, the task force argues that, at the very least, we must reach a final deal in six months that allows no enrichment above 5 percent, a full inspection regime, strict limits on the number of centrifuges and the dismantling of Fordow.

.. We would hope Congress pays close attention . But even this report leaves me with some questions , specifically :

  • Does the president think we can disable the threat of a Iran as a “threshold nuclear power”?
  • If not, how did he remain in the administration and how did he not alert the country?
  • If he does still believe that is possible, why is he pursuing a course of action that will make that goal harder to reach

In short, the JINSA report is invaluable in telling us what is wrong with the JPA , but Mr. Ross should tell us what is wrong with the president. He knows him, and he began this policy that has led to ruin. The administration has done exactly the opposite of what is required and hampered our ability to attain a goal that the country thought it shared. If out of design or ignorance the president is moving us to an alternative of containment or a nuclear-capable Iran, we need to know about it.

That is really the key to determining what the administration’s real policy is here and how and when Congress needs to act. At issue here is a nuclear-capable Iran. .

.. then what ? ..

.. if I understand military proceedings right , it would then be turned over to Army JAG . Given the high – profile , Army JAG would assign their best and brightest to the case , especially if the c-of-c expects the possibility of charges . That is something that the officer in the command should bring forth , because it would also bring forward Pvt . Bergdahl ‘ s defense …

.. Whatever the young man has done , he deserves a defense . No , not a slipshod one . Given things , he should get the best possible defense …

.. Yes , I know , he is a moderate . He will likely move to the right , considering that he will face a primary challenge the next time up . McCain moving towards the right will give the Tea Party a boost .

.. However , McCain will be in the Senate leadership next year . My guess is that McCain will be the next chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee . He will give the military (with broad strokes) what they want , but only within certain limits .

.. McCain is no soft touch . He will be a hardass on Pentagon oversight , and will work with Chuck Hagel (a fellow Vietnam vet) and the House to cut the civilian side down harshly as part of a way to help finance an overhaul and updating of weapons systems . The military needs an overhaul , and with McCain riding on them , they are going to get it , along with the budget $$ that they need …

… What I think about Edward Snowden …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,January 18th,2014

.. what I think and feel about this guy , up to date , I found , was put succintly and plainly in a piece in of all places , Buzzfeed …

Edward Snowden has made some dangerous enemies. As the American intelligence community struggles to contain the public damage done by the former National Security Agency contractor’s revelations of mass domestic spying, intelligence operators have continued to seethe in very personal terms against the 30-year-old whistle-blower.edward snowden refugee document

“In a world where I would not be restricted from killing an American, I personally would go and kill him myself,” a current NSA analyst told BuzzFeed. “A lot of people share this sentiment.”

“I would love to put a bullet in his head,” one Pentagon official, a former special forces officer, said bluntly. “I do not take pleasure in taking another human beings life, having to do it in uniform, but he is single-handedly the greatest traitor in American history.”

That violent hostility lies just beneath the surface of the domestic debate over NSA spying is still ongoing. Some members of Congress have hailed Snowden as a whistle-blower, the New York Times has called for clemency, and pundits regularly defend his actions on Sunday talk shows. In intelligence community circles, Snowden is considered a nothing short of a traitor in wartime.

“His name is cursed every day over here,” a defense contractor told BuzzFeed, speaking from an overseas intelligence collections base. “Most everyone I talk to says he needs to be tried and hung, forget the trial and just hang him.”

Yahoo reported:

The US State Department on Tuesday condemned as “offensive and inappropriate” reported comments by Israel’s defence minister criticising a security plan put forward by US Secretary of State John Kerry.

“The remarks of the defence minister if accurate are offensive and inappropriate especially given all that the United States is doing to support Israel’s security needs,” spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki told reporters following a visit by Kerry to the Vatican.

The Yediot Aharonot newspaper in Israel on Tuesday reported Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon saying in private conversations with Israeli officials that Kerry’s plan was “not worth the paper it was written on”.

The minister also accused Washington’s top diplomat of having an “incomprehensible obsession” about resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, accusing Kerry of being naive and implying he is a nuisance.

“It provides neither security nor peace,” he reportedly said, adding: “The only thing that might save us is if John Kerry wins the Nobel Prize and leaves us be.”

… Iran Runs Its Mouth — POTUS ends up with a Black Eye …

.. israel can only wait for so long . As big a mess as Turkey is in , they will realize that their lot belongs with their old ally [Israel] — and not their putative new one [Iran] . The Iranians cannot be trusted . Israel ‘ s word is as good as it gets .

.. Iran is vulnerable . So is Israel . and many nations that are supposed to be allies of ours are feeling betrayed by POTUS , aka the First Wus ! . They know that their lot is still with the United States , but they are wondering if they can survive the Obama years . Some of them wonder …

.. Israel can , though , take care of itself . She will only wait for so long . Do Not be surprised if PM Netanyahu gives the ” go ” order and it pulls us [yes , the United States] into a war in the Middle East . Iran will retaliate , and hit our allies , even our bases and command centers . Do not forget that our CentCom forward base is in Qutar , among other facilities . Ditto other facilities in Kuwait .

.. if they are going to get hit , the mullahs are going to want to take others with them , whether they like it or not . Ditto Hezbollah . They would also love to screw with the world ‘ s oil markets . A Middle East war , including the U.S. , would send oil prices soaring well over $150 a barrel , maybe even $200 a barrel . It would throw the U.S. and the West , at least for a while , into a sharp recession . Yikes …

EU set to suppress doctors’ conscience rights and proclaim abortion a ‘human right’

Hilary White

BRUSSELS, October 10, 2013 ( – A coalition of socialists at the European Union have moved to suppress conscientious objection rights of doctors and healthcare workers throughout the EU.

The European Parliament is set to vote this month on the Draft Report on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, adopted by the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality on September 18.

The report, promoted by the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, argues for legalizing abortion throughout all 27 EU member states, calling it a “human right.”

Citing the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1979 United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the EU report declares that “sexual and reproductive rights” and the “comprehensive sexual education” are “human rights,” and complains of a “disparity in the standard of sexual and reproductive health between and within Member States.”

“Member States should regulate and monitor the use of conscientious objection so as to ensure that reproductive health care is guaranteed as an individual’s right,” the report states.

It complains that, although“legal, abortion is often prevented or delayed by obstacles…such as the widespread use of conscientious objection.”

Section G of the report says, “Access to safe abortion…remains widely unavailable, though legal, through the abuse of conscientious objection or overly restrictive interpretations of existing limits.”

Zita Gurmai, MEP for the Hungarian Socialist Party

It adds, “These barriers clearly contradict human rights standards.”

This claim, however, was flatly denied by the pro-life group European Dignity Watch, that said that nowhere in international law is abortion named as a “human right.”

But the committee, the group said, “is ready to sacrifice internationally recognized rights, such as the right to conscientious objection.”

Indeed, the claim of abortion as a human right contradicts the findings in August this year by the Council of Europe that there is “no consensus” across Europe on legalizing abortion. Forty-seven European ministers were unable to answer two direct questions about abortion: Should the Council promote abortion? Is abortion a human right under the European Convention on Human Rights?

With a possible reference to the explosive growth of pro-life organizations and hugely popular Marches for Life across Europe in recent years, the document also noted the increase of “opposition to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) has increased in Europe and worldwide.”

Recently, a European-wide citizen’s initiative, the “One of us” petition project, gathered more than 1 million signatures asking the EU to end funding for the destruction of human embryos.

Zita Gurmai, an MEP for the Hungarian Socialist Party, praised the report’s “clear stance in favor of legalizing abortion in all member states” and called the demand for abortion to be made “legal, safe, and accessible to all” an “encouraging position.”

“We Socialists have always believed that women, everywhere in Europe, should have the same opportunity and access to fully carry out their choice — a choice, which should not be determined by geographical location or by social status,” Gurmai said.

Patrick Buckley, the international affairs officer for the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, said that the European Union has no legal jurisdiction to instruct member states to legalize abortion.

Click “like” if you want to end abortion!

He said the draft report also “seeks to sexualize children through the introduction of so called comprehensive sexuality education.”

The report calls on member states “to ensure compulsory, age-appropriate, and gender-sensitive sexuality and relationship education for all children and adolescents (both in and out of school).” Such education “must include the fight against stereotypes and prejudices, shed light on gender and sexual orientation discrimination, and structural barriers to substantive equality.”

Sophia Kuby, spokesman for European Dignity Watch, commented, “One can only speculate on the exact method of implementation of these noble-sounding but eminently dangerous aims.”

Kuby added that this is not the first all-out attempt by a European international body to suppress conscience rights. She cited the case of the notorious 2010 “McCafferty Report” by the British politician and pro-abortion activist Christine McCafferty, “when a radical attempt to limit freedom of conscience” was introduced and later soundly defeated.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, (PACE), a body legally distinct from the European Union, instead adopted Resolution 1763, which asked member states to “guarantee the right to conscientious objection in relation to participation in the medical procedure in question.” The Assembly also stated that “in the vast majority of Council of Europe member states, the practice of conscientious objection is adequately regulated”.

Italian government statistics recently showed that the number of doctors and other health care practitioners who refuse to participate in abortion is steadily increasing. This includes more than 80 percent of all gynecologists – up to 91 percent in some areas – as well as more than half of anesthesiologists and nurses.

In 2007, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists complained that “unprecedented numbers,” of doctors are opting out of abortion, 80 percent of which are paid for in Britain by the National Health Service.

The report itself repeats these statistics, noting also that doctors are increasingly refusing to participate in Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, “where nearly 70 per cent of all gynecologists and 40 per cent of all anesthesiologists conscientiously object to providing abortion services.”

… Hezbollah has a Death Wish [Syrian Chemical Arms] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,September 23rd,2013

.. you think that someone in Hezbollah ‘ s high command would be doing some serious thinking about this . If this blogger knows about this story , and the Washington Free Beacon , Al Wahat , and the Jerusalem Post know about the story …

Opposition: Some chemical arms smuggled onto Russian warships.

[the Jerusalem Post // Yaara Shalom]

Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces are smuggling chemical weapons to Hezbollah hidden in trucks carrying vegetables in order to escape international chemical inspection, Syrian opposition member Dr. Kamal Labwani told Saudi newspaper Al Watan on Monday.

The chemical arms are set to be stored in Hezbollah-controlled mountain areas of Lebanon, where it will be difficult to find and monitor them.

Syria has also been able to smuggle the bulk of its chemical arsenal to Russian warships stationed off the coast of Syria, Labwani said.

On Sunday, Lebanese daily Al-Mustaqbal reported Syria has moved 20 trucks worth of equipment and material used for the manufacturing of chemical weapons into Iraq, but Baghdad has denied allegations that it is helping the Syrian government conceal chemical stockpiles.

The report came just a day after the United States and Russia struck a deal stipulating that the Assad regime would destroy its chemical arsenal to avert an American military assault.

Al-Mustaqbal, a publication that has long been affiliated with anti-Syrian political elements in Lebanon, reported that the trucks crossed the boundary separating Syria with Iraq over the course of Thursday and Friday. Border guards did not inspect the contents of the trucks, which raises suspicions that they contained illicit cargo, according to the paper.

Intelligence and Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz said on Sunday that Israel is able to track attempts made by the Assad regime to transfer its chemical weapons to others.

“Israel has good capabilities, and has drawn a red line over the transfer of chemical weapons to terrorist organizations, including Hezbollah,” Steinitz told Army Radio.

[-] that the Syrians would be playing “footsie” with the Russians is no big surprise . The Russians are the longtime arms supplier to Syria . Big Shock . [-] Considering the weakness in US humint (human intelligence) , I wonder highly (unless the Israelis have told them) that the C.I.A. knows that the Russians have been storing the chem weapons on ships .
[-] If they are doing so to deactivate them , and take them away , that is a bird of a different feather . Let them . Trust Me ,
[-]the Mossad will know if the Syrian Government (Assad and his cronies) or anyone else has ahold of those weapons . They will keep quiet about what they know until there is a need for folks to know , them …. BOOM !!!!
[-] since the Mossad knows , Hezbollah has to realize that Israel will not tolerate them having these arms . Israel will target them , know exactly where , or approximately where they are , target them , and destroy them …
[-] .. Israel will have to make a determination , that they will go after these weapons — They have to , because they cannot tolerate the threat to their population from terrorists having even a small amount of these weapons . Syria ‘ s stocks are so large (@ around 1,000 tons , or 2 million pounds) that a small share of this is a significant amount , and any part of it ending up with Hezbollah is intolerable .

[-] .. Israel also must understand that if they do , it is possible that Hezbollah (and Iran) may use this as an excuse to “kick off” against them . They may not  want it , but Iran knows that either an American strategic strike or an Israeli one is coming . They may decide to take the initiative away from Israel and America , and act first , and blame Israel .

[-] God help them both  , if they do . Israel would then have no compunction against using  any and every weapon in its strategic arsenal in retaliation against either Hezbollah and /  or Iran . Significant parts of Lebanon will be reduced to a smoking ruin , while so will Syria (who just might be stupid enough to try to take advantage) .
