… Can’t People Appreciate A Joke ?!?! [Especially a Pun]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 19th,2014

.. these days , apparantely not .

.. the Phi Delta Alphas at Dartmouth College had come up with an original and imaginative way to host a charity fundraiser for their (and their sorority partner ‘ s) chosen charity . They also chose to make the name of their fundraiser a ” play on words ” [that is what a pun is] on both of their names ..

.. they called it a ” Phiesta . “

.. [h/t — DartmouthReview]..
.. [link] to the news story …

.. well , unfortunately , someone went hyper on this pun . They also sent a lengthy e – mail to the College ‘ s administration , complaining about the theme of the charity fundraiser , basically going off on a politically correct rant ..

.. well , Dartmouth ‘ s Department of Student Life went nuts . They ordered the two groups [the fraternity and the sorority] to cancel the fundraiser …

.. On a college or university campus , that body has that power . That does not mean that what the college higher – ups did was right . It was wrong . Very , very wrong . It was also politically correct to the extreme …

.. this clip from the article states things perfectly :

Life at Dartmouth is a Potemkin existence defined by what Jonah Goldberg calls a positive liberty: “someone gives you a whole pile of stuff so that you can be ‘free’ to do whatever you desire.” To adapt his analysis, DDS prepares food for us so that we can eat at our leisure. Dick’s House provides birth control and condoms aplenty so that we can have lots of sex. And when we inevitably make a mess, legions of custodians and administrators are there to clean it all up. In the meantime, students are told to “pursue their interests” no matter how arcane they may be and are instructed in the ethics of sensitivity, awareness, and discussion ad infinitum.

The result of this externally funded bliss is to distort the priorities and sentiments of a cohort already characterized by its selfishness. Egged on by the promise of an “educational Shangri-La,” the “Me Generation” grows stronger in its conviction that its problems are the real ones and that the world below the ivory tower is illusory. Suddenly, problems like heart disease cease to be something that young invincibles put much stock in; instead, bad puns and even worse burritos become the issue du jour of a campus consumed by its own self-importance.

When this happens, progressivism ceases to be progressive; it becomes a prop for the loudest and most sensitive among us. The rules of cause and effect are distorted and the sense of solipsism grows stronger. Local issues replace societal ones as the topics of focus. And the Dartmouth community grows increasingly isolated from the concerns of the world that their education is supposed to help them lead.

In the meantime, many among us keep setting fire to their favorite straw men, blinded by their zest for issues of personal significance. As these targets grow more numerous, the fires grow hotter and burn without discretion. All the while, society beyond the ivy gates shakes its head and wonders about what has become of its youth.

.. LEC here again — for full disclosure , I fully support these folks and their philanthropic work . I am also a proud Sigma Phi Epsilon alum from Cleveland State University in Cleveland , Ohio here in the good ol ‘ U.S. of A. …

.. p.s. — I goofed on the name of the fraternity — Sorry , Guys — It is Phi Delta Alpha …

… It Figures [Media Bias towards the Bush Admin]…

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,April 29th,2014

.. especially Dubya and Obama ..

.. [h/t — m.Newsbusters]..

.. from previous reportagé , it has become really clear that CBS gave Attkisson enormous resistance even to stories that they co – operated with or that they green – lighted . They did not make it easy , though , that is for sure . They made it extremely difficult for Attkisson to do her job , being very chinzy on resourses , depending on the subject material ..

.. in this Newsbusters clip , she was very up – front and specific . She wanted to do stories on the Bush Administration . Usually , CBS mgmt. was quite co – operative . The bigger the exposé , the more co — operative that they were …

… Julie Boonstra counterattacks …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,February 27th,2014

.. she is the Michigan resident and cancer patient who is dealing with the crippling effects of ObamaCrapCare on her health insurance policy , her overall health care , and

.. she became famous as the result of issue ads run by Americans for Prosperity / Michigan . They intervened in the open seat US Senate race in Michigan , the one being vacated by Carl Levin . She also became famous because the subject of the issue ad , Representative Gary Peters [D-Mi] has attacked her with a cheap shot .

.. Peters wants to have control of his campaign message . Who wouldn’t . In this day and age , you have to deal with interest groups , and even private individuals running political ads . Technically , anyone with money can do so . Peters is , however , playing foul , by abusing his office .

.. Peters ‘ Senate campaign has been going around to various TV stations that broadcast into Michigan . That would include , in theory , Ohio , Northern Indiana , and Chicagoland , in addition to Michigan proper . The campaign has been grossly abusing the powers of his office by threatening their broadcast licences , among other offences , for airing the A.F.P. ads . Vulgar , huh ?

.. Yea , it is . She is fighting back , thankfully . This morning [Monday 02/24/2014] , she appeared on ” Fox and Friends ” for an interview . I heartily recommend it …

… Interesting Ad [Louisiana US Senate] …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Tuesday,February 18th,2014

.. that the DummyCraps are not going to like , not one bit .

.. Senator Mary Landrieux [D-La] is going to be very popular this election cycle . Her political position has become very , very precarious . She is either even in the polls with her potential (likely Republican) opponents , or she is trailing them . Worse for her , she is well below 50 percent in the polls . That is the ” danger ” zone for any incumbent …

.. Louisiana is an unusual byrd . It has what is known in the elections trade as a ” jungle ” primary . Democraps , Republicans , and Independents , everybody runs in the primary , which is held on the regular Election Day [in November] . If the first place winner gets 50% + 1 vote , then they are elected . If not , then the top 2 finishers , regardless of party , go on to the runoff election (usually held about 5 to 6 weeks later) .

.. this year , Landrieux should make the runoff , but it is not guaranteed . If she is the only Dem , then she will make it . If another Dem with any support runs , then she is in deep doo – doo . She and a republican will move on to the (December) runoff election . Depending on the General Eleection results , control of the Senate could be in the balance .

.. I think that she will go . Ads like this one will be thick as fleas all year long …

… I See People ‘ s Point [Coca Cola Super Bowl ad controversy] …

.. this is about Coca Cola ‘ s Super Bowl Ad .

.. for those who wonder , yes I watched the game . All of it . Caught virtually all of the commercials . Even the bad ones . This one was not a bad one . Repeat , this Coca Cola Super Bowl ad (entitled “Its Beautiful) was a fairly good one . It could have been better ..

… These I.R.S. Proposed Regs are Oppresive …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,February 6th,2014

… and they must be stopped ..

.. Cleta Mitchell is a solid Republican . She is no Establishmentarian . She is a strong Tea Party supporter . She is from the Virginia Tidewater , not too close to D.C. . She is close enough to D.C. to have a very successful law practice , and is one of the best election law practitioner / specialists in the business . Listen to what she says very carefully …

.. this is a video of her presentation on these oppresive proposed IRS rules …

.. [h/t — niceDeb]

.. [link] to the video . It is well worth your time to watch . If you want to comment to the I.R.S. , keep it simple and brief , and use the info below as a guideline …

.. the following is reprinted with permission …

.. The IRS got caught with their pants down last year. So now they are writing regulations that will allow them to do legally what they were doing illegally before. Every time you think these people can sink no lower, they go out of their way to prove you wrong. A cabal of leftist groups sued the IRS demanding they adopt these regulations, whereupon the IRS went out of its way to comply. This is a classic set up. It was probably agreed to in advance between the IRS and the plaintiffs. Now that they are complying, the leftists have magically dropped their suit!

.. Here is how to fight back. The following was written by Cleta Mitchell, one of the best attorneys in this field. Read it, follow the instructions and pass them around. The following is reprinted verbatim with permission:

Comments can be filed via email:

Submissions may be sent electronically via the Federal eRulemaking Portal at

Include this citation: IRS REG-134417-13

That will take you to the IRS comments page where you can enter your comments. Be sure to include your name and address.

Tell the IRS it should hold public hearings around the nation on these regs

1. Rules are complex and impose huge burdens on 501c4 groups to calculate and report to IRS many (if not most) normal c4 activities…that will not be counted toward primary purpose if these are adopted.

Tell the IRS:
•it is impractical, burdensome and unacceptable for the IRS to interject itself into the inner workings of every citizens group in the country
•the IRS is supposed to be collecting revenues, not snooping and trampling on the First Amendment rights of the citizens
•we are not subjects and we are permitted to engage in First Amendment activities without reporting those activities to the IRS

2. The activities that the IRS would now define as ‘candidate-related political activities’, subject to taxation and reporting to the IRS, are basic 501c4 activities:
•Grassroots lobbying
•Candidate forums
•Candidate debates
•Voter registration
•Voter guides
•Issue advocacy

Tell the IRS these rules are unacceptable because they would:
•keep citizens from holding their public officials accountable
•silence citizens and chill the very purpose of grassroots groups
•create different rules and standards for different types of 501c groups, such that a charitable organization could do MORE than a grassroots group
•force citizens to get their information about candidates from 30 second tv ads and the candidates and the media – rather than from candidate debates, candidate forums and seeing public officials face-to-face in townhall and other meetings
•treat as candidate-related activities essentially everything that a grassroots organization does
•force organizations to remove legislative voting records from their websites in even-numbered years
•treat legislative voting records as a taxable, non-primary purpose activity of a c4 organization
•treat meetings with public officials as taxable events, even when the official appears as an “official” and not as a candidate
•treat internal membership communications as taxable, if there is a mention of a candidate or public official, if a group has more than 500 members who receive the communication
•declare certain activities to be ‘candidate-related’ political activities, EVEN if no candidate is mentioned
•allow labor unions, churches, universities, veterans groups, social clubs, business groups and others to have greater First Amendment rights than grassroots citizens organizations
•citizens groups shouldn’t have to pay taxes on protected First Amendment activities such as publishing voting records, grassroots lobbying and voter registration

Many other possible examples and reasons. Write your own. Call your congressman!

Join with other grassroots activists in fighting the IRS regs!

… Nice Shot , Hurricane Camille ! [Paglia]

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,December 21st,2013

.. she is amazin ‘ ..

.. Camille Paglia has been around on the scene quite a while . Just as long , you cannot quite peg where she will come down on an issue .

.. Yes , she is a proud and raging liberal . However , she is an old – school liberal , all in the sense of the word . She says what she thinks , and has more balls [yes , BALLS] that almost any other public figure that I know of on the public stage . She will not back down to anyone , repeat anyone .

.. Conservatives would be wise to think that she is on our side . She is not . Often , she is not , but often as much , she is . She is old school …

.. She let fly on the ” Duck Dynasty ” controversy . Boy , oh boy , did she ever …

[h/t —]

“I speak with authority here, because I was openly gay before the ‘Stonewall rebellion,’ when it cost you something to be so. And I personally feel as a libertarian that people have the right to free thought and free speech,” Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, said on Laura Ingraham’s radio show Thursday.

“In a democratic country, people have the right to be homophobic as well as they have the right to support homosexuality — as I one hundred percent do. If people are basing their views against gays on the Bible, again they have a right of religious freedom there,” she added.

Robertson has been suspended from Duck Dynasty due to comments he made to GQ that have been deemed “anti-gay.” According to Paglia, the culture has become too politically correct.

“To express yourself in a magazine in an interview — this is the level of punitive PC, utterly fascist, utterly Stalinist, OK, that my liberal colleagues in the Democratic Party and on college campuses have supported and promoted over the last several decades,” Paglia said. “This is the whole legacy of free speech 1960’s that have been lost by my own party.”

Paglia went on to point out that while she is an atheist she respects religion and has been frustrated by the intolerance of gay activists.
