.. and this one has some serious stones ..

.. for the last 5 years , Israel has been stuck with a peachnik President . Thankfully , Israel is a parliamentary democracy . The head of state has virtually no powers in government at all . It is more a political plumb than anything else …

..With the recent election of Israel’s new nationalist President, Reuven (Ruby) Rivlin, the world will see a very strong Israeli leader with a very different vision of peace. Rivlin is a member of the same political party as Netanyahu – and while the position is largely ceremonial, Rivlin is expected to be quite visible on the world’s scene.

Ruby Rivlin (president of Israel)

Who is Rivlin? A man who was born in Jerusalem and considers himself a life-long follower of Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the ideological forefather of the Likud Party, and the “No Land For Peace” advocates in Israeli political life. Rivlin – rightfully – believes that this conflict is a fundamental conflict which will be solved “only after we solve the Arab-Jewish conflict and can be confident that the Arab countries recognize Israel and our right to live here in security..” Rivlin will not apologize for Israel being a strong, sovereign nation.

Rivlin’s vision of peace is peace through strength. As he said, “We have returned to our homeland over the past 200 years in order to stay here. We want real peace, not fake, short-term ‘Peace Now,’ which is liable to be nothing more than an illusion.”

Ze’ev Jabotinsky – the ideological forefather of the Likud – said many years ago, and it remains true today, “The Jewish people – all of us, 100 percent want peace.”

Peace cannot be accomplished with extremists who kidnap teenage boys. Survival is more important than anything else.
