… What were You Doing , Douggie ? Playing Tiddly Winks ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,May 31st,2013

.. When you visit the White House , it is usually for good reason . Short of being employed there (which is itself an honour) , when you are asked to come there , it is usually once or twice in a lifetime .  Sometimes more , if you are on the frequent tourist plan (ha!ha!) . Even people who work there (the West Wing) do , or should , think that it is a privilege to be there , much less to work there .

.. Even higher – ups in the government do no visit the White House all that often . In his predecessor ‘ s time . Mark Everson only visited the House (as it is often called) once . ONCE !

.. Considering the role that the Infernal Service is set to play in ObamaCrapCare(O.C.C.) , one can understand a somewhat higher frequency of visits by senior people at the I.R.S. . The knuckleheads in the West Wing and the DemoCraps needed to know a lot to plan and set for implementation of O.C.C. . That would also include strategy , planning , strategic info , and other stuff the Administration needed .

.. But the I.R.S. Commissioner . 118 times ? 157 times ? GET REAL , FOLKS !!!!  It smells to high heaven . And , you can bet that it was not to play tiddly winks , either !

.. #Stop the Insanity …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,May 31st,2013

.. Well , this is my first – ever hash tag , and this one should be a doozy . It seems that the N.C.A.A. has lost all sense of sanity , proportionality , and common sense .

.. There is an student athlete at a West Coast school (ESPN did not say which one) that washed her car on campus . You would think , no biggee  . Tell that to the N.C.A.A. . Those dummies fined her (yes , fined her) $20 for the use of the school ‘ s water , and for the use of the hose . She evidently lives on campus . Well , guys , what do you expect . Have her go off – campus , and pay a fortune ?

.. Where there are extra benefits to student athletes , there should be some sense of decency and proportionality . Going after the penny – ante stuff is nuts . Go after the big – money serious e – bs , not the chump change . Going after the small stuff makes you look ridiculous , as well as petty . Payoffs and Corruption have no place in college and college sports . However , logic , clear thinking , and smarts do have a place . So does Morality .

… You Have to be Kidding Me … (She got a Promotion ???)

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,May 30th,2013

You have got to be kidding me , She gets a promotion ???

… from the Daily Caller (Vince Coglianese)

Obama promotes Benghazi talking points editor to assistant secretary of state

The woman responsible for completely removing references to terrorism from the Benghazi

talking points has been nominated by President Obama to become an assistant secretary

of state.

Victoria Nuland — the State Department spokeswoman who famously altered the talking

points regarding the Sept. 11, 2012 attack — will become assistant secretary of state

for European and Eurasian affairs if the nomination clears the Senate.

It’s a toxic nomination for the president to put forward, particularly as congressional

Republicans hammer the administration for failures in readiness and response to the

attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Nuland is a central character in those criticisms, having expressed “serious concerns”

about any mention of terrorism.

Four Americans died in the terror attack, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya

Christopher Stevens.

.. considering the monkeyshines that she was involved in , Victoria Nuland deserves to

be fired , NOW . A promotion ? That is waaaay beyond outrageous ! .

..No Way that This Stuff is Tolerated …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,May 30th,2013

.. I am amazed at the stuff that the ObamaCrap Administration has been trying to get

away with . You would have thought that they would have studied previous White House

playbooks , and talked to other people . It at least would have given them ideas on

what NOT to do  . but NOOOOO . We are ObamaCrats . We are superior to them . We walk on

water . We are better than them .

.. Yeah , riiiggghhht ! Guess what , Dummies ? Those Mistakes have been made before .

This time , you idiots have made them , and new versions of old ones . Some real honeys

, to be sure . Abusing opponents with the I.R.S. is a moldy oldy . But , going after

the media . Making FoxNewsChannel sympathetic ! Waaay to go , you stupid fools .

.. Nice Going . You are likely going to do damage to Dems in the Senate . Most likely ,

any chance of gaining the House are now gone . More likely , the DummyCrats are going

to lose seats in both chambers . Maybe even the Senate , if things keep going . DuuuH

!!

.. Any other White House (even the Clintonoids) , and these idiots would be out the

door . In a dignified manner , yes , but they would be gone . It is incredible that the

ObamaCraps are that arrogant . But , they are , and that is going to cause incalculable

political and financial damage to them . Stupid !!!!

… Are You Kidding Me ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 27th,2013

Victoria Nuland , the hack who had an active hand in monkeying around with the Benghazi – related talking points , is getting a promotion ???

.. What a joke !

… She deserves an indictment , a conviction , and a loooong prison sentence . Not a new job . What a frickin ‘ joke . A hack gets promoted , while professional and career Foreign Service Officers like Greg Hicks are sent (likely , permanently) to the bench . How ridiculous is that .

[h/t — WhiteHouseDossier.com]

The  State Department spokeswoman who played a pivotal role in deleting portions of the Benghazi talking points has been tapped by President Obama for a plum new post, bagging a nomination to become assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.

Nuland is a career foreign service officer who had held many high-level positions, including under George W. Bush. But her nomination to handle the European portfolio will likely be seen by Republicans as an example of the president flipping the bird their way.

Senate confirmation in the current environment would seem unlikely, at best.

During the process of whittling the original CIA talking points down, a reference to participation in the Benghazi attack by al Qaeda-linked elements was deleted. Nuland had expressed “serious concerns” about mentioning the terrorists. And she also asserted that including references to previous attacks against foreigners in Benghazi “could be abused by members to beat the State Department for not paying attention to Agency warnings.”

Nuland was particularly aggressive, pursuing the matter until the concerns of her superiors were satisfied.

… the Hell with No – Go Zones …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 27th,2013

.. I prefer when major news events happen to give it time to gel and settle in , before I think about it alot . I want to give it as fair a treatment as is reasonably possible , given the circumstances . I also do not want to go off “half cocked,” and say something insensitive or ill – mannered . I also do not want to be associated with the hotheads who mouth off on all sides of an issue . Waiting can often help , at least , I hope .

.. With the situation in many places in Europe , patience is not always easy . Islamic adherants have established no – go zones , basically “enclaves” within a country . Why ? You have emigrated to a free land , to enjoy the freedoms that that land has for its citizens . Then , you in effect “wall” yourselves off from the rest of society ? What sense is that ?

.. Part of emigration to a new land is the reasonable expectation that you are expected to assimilate into the new land . In some nations , assimilation is very slight , but it is expected . You most definitely are not expected to form an enclave within that nation , where another and alien system of rule of law and imposed religious faith is imposed on its residents . Whether they like it or not . To Do so defeats the purpose of emigration in the first place .

.. You have to wonder , though , with Islam . It seems only in the United States is Islam practiced relatively peacefully . Even at times , there are problems in different areas , usually due to cultural clashes .

.. In most of the rest of the world , there are many problems . The native religious faith(es) are being overwhelmed . Ususally , that happens by a falloff in the native birthrate , and a hyperacceleration in the Islamic – related area birthrate .

.. Eventually , there is going to be a reckoning with what is going on in Europe . I think that the eventual possibilities are a civil war , mass emigration , mass expulsion , or some combination thereof . It is not that I want it . I do not . It is what I see happening , sometime later in this century . And , regrettably , it will not be peaceful ..

.. There are two excellent analyses of the current situation , ones that I reccommend that would go with my own piece . One is an article on NRol , one by former prosecutor and Fox News commentator Andrew McCarthy . The other is a column from the Gatestone Institute , out of jolly ol ‘ England itself . Its author is Soeren Kern , who is a regular , whose column is carried at w3.pundicity.com .

… You have to Focus on the Infernal Service , and get Someone high up to Flip …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,May 26th,2013

.. the folks at the Infernal Revenue Service know that they are in very big trouble .They have been caught red – handed in political meddling , and they know that they should not have done so . Their image has been damaged , even if they had one already . Their ability to do their job is also compromised . What happens after all of this is largely open to question

.. The top IRS officials , whose agency was under investigation for targeting conservative groups, visited the Obama White House more than 100 times over two years while the probe was going on, far more often than in previous administrations and frequently enough that Republicans suspect White House officials knew about the targeting.

.. Lawmakers that are now investigating the Infernal Revenue Service practice have zeroed in on those nearly weekly White House meetings . They are trying to determine whether an IRS official — or someone even higher up in the administration — had approved the targeting and whether it was politically motivated . The frequent meetings also raised questions about the White House’s claims that it could not have instigated the targeting of conservative groups , because it took a hands – off approach to the tax agency . They are going so far as to describe it as independent of the administration , which is incorrect . The Service is actually a constituent part of the Treasury Department.

.. Former Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Doug Shulman visited the White House 118 times between 2010 and 2011 . Acting Director Steven Miller, who took over at the IRS in November, also made numerous visits to the White House . Variations in the spelling of his name in White House visitor logs makes it difficult to determine exactly how many times . The frequent trips to the White House under ObamaCrap Administration far outnumber  the times other administrations felt the need to meet with the IRS .

.. Shulman said he couldn’t remember why he went to the White House so frequently, though some of the visits were probably about the IRS’ role in implementing Obama’s health care reforms, he told a congressional committee. Logs show Shulman met with two West Wing officials working on health care. “The IRS has a major role in the money flow,” Shulman explained to Congress . Yea , riight .

.. It helps to keep the pressure up on the bad guys . What they have done is really , really outrageous , and beyond the pale . The big thing , now , is to get someone to flip on the inside . Hopefully , it is someone that has or is being brought to justice , so that the legal pressure continues and increases . No better way to get someone to fink on the other bad guys and gals .

… POTOMAC WATCH May 23rd , 2013 …

Strassel: Conservatives Became Targets in 2008 The Obama campaign played a big role in

a liberal onslaught that far pre-dated Citizens United.By KIMBERLEY A. STRASSEL   The White House insists President Obama is “outraged” by the “inappropriate” targeting and harassment of conservative groups. If true, it’s a remarkable turnaround for a man  who helped pioneer those tactics.

On Aug. 21, 2008, the conservative American Issues Project ran an ad highlighting ties between candidate Obama and Bill Ayers, formerly of the Weather Underground. The Obama campaign and supporters were furious, and they pressured TV stations to pull the ad—a common-enough tactic in such ad spats.

What came next was not common. Bob Bauer, general counsel for the campaign (and later general counsel for the White House), on the same day wrote to the criminal division of the Justice Department, demanding an investigation into AIP, “its officers and directors,” and its “anonymous donors.” Mr. Bauer claimed that the nonprofit, as a 501 (c)(4), was committing a “knowing and willful violation” of election law, and wanted “action to enforce against criminal violations.”

AIP gave Justice a full explanation as to why it was not in violation. It said that it operated exactly as liberal groups like Naral Pro-Choice did. It noted that it had disclosed its donor, Texas businessman Harold Simmons. Mr. Bauer’s response was a second letter to Justice calling for the prosecution of Mr. Simmons. He sent a third letter on Sept. 8, again smearing the “sham” AIP’s “illegal electoral purpose.”

Also on Sept. 8, Mr. Bauer complained to the Federal Election Commission about AIP and Mr. Simmons. He demanded that AIP turn over certain tax documents to his campaign (his right under IRS law), then sent a letter to AIP further hounding it for confidential information (to which he had no legal right).

The Bauer onslaught was a big part of a new liberal strategy to thwart the rise of conservative groups. In early August 2008, the New York Times trumpeted the creation of a left-wing group (a 501(c)4) called Accountable America. Founded by Obama supporter and liberal activist Tom Mattzie, the group—as the story explained—would start by sending “warning” letters to 10,000 GOP donors, “hoping to create a chilling effect that will dry up contributions.” The letters would alert “right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.” As Mr. Mattzie told Mother Jones: “We’re going to put them at risk.”

The Bauer letters were the Obama campaign’s high-profile contribution to this effort—though earlier, in the spring of 2008, Mr. Bauer filed a complaint with the FEC against the American Leadership Project, a group backing Hillary Clinton in the primary.

“There’s going to be a reckoning here,” he had warned publicly. “It’s going to be rough—it’s going to be rough on the officers, it’s going to be rough on the employees, it’s going to be rough on the donors. . . Whether it’s at the FEC or in a broader criminal inquiry, those donors will be asked questions.” The campaign similarly attacked a group supporting John Edwards.

American Leadership head (and Democrat) Jason Kinney would rail that Mr. Bauer had gone from “credible legal authority” to “political hatchet man”—but the damage was done. As Politico reported in August 2008, Mr. Bauer’s words had “the effect of scaring [Clinton and Edwards] donors and consultants,” even if they hadn’t yet “result[ed] in any prosecution.”

As general counsel to the Obama re-election campaign, Mr. Bauer used the same tactics on pro-Romney groups. The Obama campaign targeted private citizens who had donated to Romney groups. Democratic senators demanded that the IRS investigate these organizations.

None of this proves that Mr. Obama was involved in the IRS targeting of conservative nonprofits. But it does help explain how we got an environment in which the IRS thought this was acceptable.

Related Video   Editorial board member Steve Moore offers a round-up of the news this week on the IRS’s targeting conservative groups. Photo: Getty Images . . The rise of conservative organizations (to match liberal groups that had long played in politics), and their effectiveness in the 2004 election (derided broadly by liberals as “swift boating”), led to a new and organized campaign in 2008 to chill conservative donors and groups via the threat of government investigation and prosecution. The tone in any organization—a charity, a corporation, the U.S. government—is set at the top.

This history also casts light on White House claims that it was clueless about the IRS’s targeting. As Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman wrote this week: “With two winning presidential campaigns built on successful grassroots fundraising, with a former White House counsel (in 2010-11) who is one of the Democrats’ leading experts on campaign law (Bob Bauer), with former top campaign officials having been ensconced as staffers in the White House . . . it’s hard to imagine that the Obama inner circle was oblivious to the issue of what the IRS was doing in Cincinnati.” More like inconceivable.

And this history exposes the left’s hollow claim that the IRS mess rests on Citizens United. The left was targeting conservative groups and donors well before the Supreme Court’s 2010 ruling on independent political expenditures by corporations.

If the country wants to get to the bottom of the IRS scandal, it must first remember the context for this abuse. That context leads to this White House.   There are many other examples that one can add to Strassel’s analysis. One that I remember with particular bitterness is from September 2008, when the Democratic National Committee and several Obama-aligned organizations pressured the Jewish community to un-invite Sarah Palin from a rally against Iran at the UN.

What happened was that a group of Jewish non-profit organizations had organized the rally and invited both Gov. Palin and Sen. Hillary Clinton. Clinton initially agreed to attend, but the Obama campaign was terrified at the prospect of her sharing a stage with Palin and sending a signal that Democrat women left frustrated by Clinton’s loss might switch parties. So they pressured Clinton to withdraw–and then pressured the Jewish groups to deny Palin a platform, claiming that the rally was now “partisan.”

Jewish members of the Democratic National Committee reportedly made threats to challenge the groups’ IRS non-profit status.

J Street, which had only recently started up as an organization devoted to promoting criticism of Israel and Obama’s Middle East policy, joined in the pressure campaign, circulating a petition addressed to Jewish leader and rally organizer Malcolm Hoenlein.

When Palin was un-invited, J Street celebrated its role in that deplorable display of thuggish intimidation of free speech and assembly: “We Won!” it boasted. (So did Iran, that day.)

The Obama campaign’s tactics weren’t confined to non-profit groups. Indeed, its present practice of trying to intimidate journalists emerged at the same time. In late August 2008, the Obama campaign organized an effort to shut down a radio interview between Chicago journalist Milt Rosenberg and conservative author Stanley Kurtz, who had just done the definitive research exposing the ties between Ayers and Obama. (The campaign declined an invitation to appear on the show itself.) The producer of the show later wrote: “It’s interesting to see what lengths the Obama campaign is willing to reach to stifle dissenting voices.”

Those of us who protested the Obama campaign’s tactics at the time were ignored, as were most who noted what the Obama administration later did to the Tea Party and conservatives. Strassel adds that Bauer came back for the Obama re-election campaign in 2012 and used the same tactics against Romney donors.

“None of this proves that Mr. Obama was involved in the IRS targeting of conservative  nonprofits,” she writes. “But it does help explain how we got an environment in which the IRS thought this was acceptable.”

The important point is that the Obama administration’s behavior in the Benghazi scandal (intimidating whistleblowers), the IRS scandal (targeting conservative nonprofits and donors), and the AP and Rosen scandals (hounding individual journalists and news agencies , and the AP and Rosen scandals (hounding individual journalists and news agencies) is a feature of Obama’s character and leadership, not a bug. He may know well enough to keep himself at arm’s length, to retain the façade of “plausible deniability.” But the pattern of behavior is becoming undeniable, as is Obama’s ultimate responsibility.

[Update]  on Saturday evening

William Jacobson , a law professor at Cornell University ‘ s law school . I came across it a couple of years ago , and it was an immediate hit with me . Team Obama’s dirty war against conservatives

Posted by                            Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:39am
Kimberley Strassel makes in important point today at The Wall Street Journal, taking apart the defense that the IRS was warranted in targeting conservative groups seeking 501(c)(4) status because of the Citizens United decision.  Strassel documents how people close to and involved in the Obama campaign sought to pressure the government to target conservatives years before the Citizens United decision.

Conservatives Became Targets in 2008:

The White House insists President Obama is “outraged” by the “inappropriate” targeting and harassment of conservative groups.

Bauer claimed that the nonprofit, as a 501(c)(4), was committing a “knowing and willful violation” of election law, and wanted “action to enforce against criminal violations.”

Strassel then goes on to document how the new liberal targeting strategy played out in the years prior to Citizens United.

That’s certainly part of the dirty war against conservatives.

But the dirty war also has included secondary boycotts of conservative speakers and groups organized by Media Matters, Color of Change and similar well-funded liberal entities.  Those boycotts were not mere expressions of disagreement, but attempts to deprive conservatives of platforms on and through which to express speech, whether a radio show, a cable news station, or a 501(c)(4) organization.

None of these can be viewed in isolation.  For 5 years we have endured wide-ranging attempts to suppress conservative political speech.  The IRS scandal is just one part of it.

Update:  A reader writes:

Note as well that Bob Bauer’s wife is the, ahem, interesting Anita Dunn.

… Andrew Cuomo is Nuts …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Saturday,May 25th,2013

.. Andrew Cuomo is currently Governor of the State of New York . Governor . Not Dictator . He may well have some power to remove the sheriff of an individual county in New York . However , this is New York State .

.. Nothing is quite that easy in this state . He likely either has to answer to the legislature , or to the Circuit Court of Appeals , New York ‘

s highest court . Even if he can remove them on his own , without them , he cannot just do so without repercussions . Moral , as well as political . Especially in the affected county .

.. The county could act and remove the appointed sheriff , since New York State counties are all home – rule . They have an elected executive , with a county legislature . Also , the counties are not small . It would affect at least 1 or more State Senate Districts , and 2 or more State Assembly Districts . And both chambers would not like the precedent , either .

.. It would also destroy his law-and-order chances at re-election time . If one were indeed a sheriff , they should call his bluff . They enforce the law . They understand the law , ususally , far better than a Governor does . Whether it will work , or not . New York ‘ s century-old Sullivan Law is a big enough headache . SAFE is much worse . To be honest , if seriously challenged , both the Sullivan Law and SAFE are unconstitutional .

Tyrant: Cuomo Threatens to Remove Sheriffs If They Publicly Oppose His Gun Law

Posted By Bryan Preston On May 24, 2013 @ 7:42 am In Politics | 5 Comments

As the saying goes, scratch a liberal and you’ll find a tyrant underneath. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo is but the latest example. He shoved a very restrictive and ill-considered gun law through the state legislature in the dead of night. Among its flaws, the law criminalized police officers who tote firearms with magazines that hold more than seven rounds. Sheriffs around the state have objected to the law. Cuomo summoned them to the state capitol under what appears to be a false pretext, and used the meeting to threaten them into silence.

Cuomo invited its leaders to the Capitol last month, people briefed on the meeting said. The group included Sheriffs’ Association Executive Director Peter Kehoe and Chemung County Sheriff Christopher Moss.

“We didn’t get a response (to the analysis) from him, but we could tell after the budget was passed that none of those recommendations were taken into consideration,” Moss said. “When we got there, we never got to the contents of the letter.”

Instead, Cuomo pushed the sheriffs to stop publicly speaking out against the act, Moss said.

“The governor was of the opinion that the sheriffs around the state should not be interjecting their personal opinions in reference to the law,” Moss said, adding that Cuomo said sheriffs can’t do that and enforce the law.

One person briefed on the meeting said Cuomo threatened to remove sheriffs from office, a little-used power afforded the state’s chief executive under the state constitution.

That would be an abuse of power. It would also not be out of character for Cuomo or, for that matter, Democrats writ large. Two of the three major Obama scandals — snooping on the press and the IRS — involve rampant abuses of power. Cuomo’s own tactics in passing the SAFE Act could be construed as abuses of power, as he used emergency provisions to waive the normal three-day public examination period. Legislators were not even afforded enough time to read the law they were voting on. The SAFE Act was not a response to any real emergency, but it did fulfill Cuomo’s wish to get a landmark bill through as quickly as possible.

Cuomo to State Sheriffs: Shut Up About Gun Law or Risk Termination

On May 21, 2013, in Andrew Cuomo, Gun Control, New York, by Rusty Weiss

What many had assumed would be a meeting regarding New York State Sheriffs’ Association

concerns about New York’s strict new gun laws, turned into a verbal scolding from the

Governor which included the threat of some people’s jobs if they didn’t toe the line

and shut up about the SAFE Act.

… Bravo , Roger , Bravo ! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,May 24th,2013

.. Roger Ailes is the founder and president of FoxNewsChannel , and then FoxBusinessNews . Unlike about any time in its history , FNC & FBN are under fire like never before . The ObamaCrap Department of Injustice is , I believe , abusing its power by sending out (issuing) a subpoena to phone companies for information about FNC and FBN under seal . They did so without any legal notice or due process to NewsCorp or to FoxNews at all .

.. Normally , this legal notice and process is standard . They decided to do this under the Espionage Act , of all things . The Espionage Act . They knew who the leaker was . They did not need much more info . And , yet they decided to go after all of this stuff , in secret , under seal , and without due process .

.. Roger Ailes responded this afternoon , in an e – mail to his employees at NewsCorp and Fox …

Dear colleagues,

The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox   News employees, including James Rosen, calls into    question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government’s efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter   to a   Federal judge as a “co-conspirator” in a crime. I know how concerned you are  because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to   use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member ? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to  intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not   allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten   any of us away from the truth.

I am proud of your tireless effort to report the news over the last 17 years. I   stand with you, I support you and I thank you for your reporting with courageous optimism. Too many Americans fought and died to protect our unique American right   of press freedom. We can’t and we won’t forget that. To be an American journalist   is not only a great responsibility, but also a great honor. To be a Fox journalist   is a high honor, not a high crime. Even this memo of support will cause some to demonize us and try to find irrelevant things to cause us to waver. We will   not waver.

As Fox News employees, we sometimes are forced to stand alone, but even then   when we know we are reporting what is true and what is right, we stand proud   and fearless.

Thank you for your hard work and all your efforts.

Sincerely ,

.. Eric Holder is beyond redemption as Attorney General . He is a post – partisan and pre – partisan party hack . How he got the job , I

English: Eric Holder, Attorney General Nominee

cannot understand  . However , he did , and it is abundantly clear .

.. He must go .

.. He should offer his resignation  .

.. If he does not , POTUS should fire him .

.. if POTUS does not fire him , Congress should impeach him . Then , the Senate should and must try him and convict him of the charges theirein . As a result , he would then be removed from office . Hopefully , he would be then be banned from public office for good . One can hope .

… In case you wonder why , this snippet from NBCSnooze proves my point …

.. Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator” in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday .

.. The disclosure of the attorney general’s role came as President Barack Obama, in a major speech on his counterterrorism policy, said Holder had agreed to review Justice Department guidelines governing investigations that involve journalists.

.. Rosen, who has not been charged in the case, was nonetheless the target of a search warrant that enabled Justice Department investigators to secretly seize his private emails after an FBI agent said he had “asked, solicited and encouraged … (a source) to disclose sensitive United States internal documents and intelligence information.”

.. Obama’s comments follow a firestorm of criticism that has erupted over disclosures that in separate investigations of leaks of classified information, the Justice Department had obtained private emails that Rosen exchanged with a source and the phone records of Associated Press reporters.

… POTUS gets heckled , but the Heckler has a point …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,May 23rd,2013

.. Now , I grant you , I do not like hecklers . I think that they are show – offs , scene – stealers , and should be thrown out of the event in question on the spot . However , in this case , the heckler in question has a very good and accurate point .

.. POTUS is making a speech on foreign policy , and calls for the closure of the detainee prison at Gitmo . You would figure that someone would interrupt the speech . Well , someone did .

[link]

.. the thing is , the heckler has a point . Obama is the Commander – in – Chief . He could order the detainee prison at Guantanamo Bay , Cuba closed today , if he wanted .

… the thing is , he does not have the balls . He would pay an enormous political price here , by closing it , and overseas , by figuring out what to do with the jihadis that would then be freed by his order .

[Update] I goofed … forgot a part [h/t — RealClearPolitics] and the link (here!)

President Obama is heckled about Guantanamo Bay during his speech on terrorism at the National Defense University on Thursday.

OBAMA: There is no justification beyond politics for congress to prevent us from closing a facility that never should have been opened.
HECKLER: Excuse me, President Obama, you are commander-in-chief–
OBAMA: Today–
[crowd applauds]
OBAMA: So, let me finish, ma’am. So, today once again, today– I’m about to address it. You gotta let me address it.
HECKLER: …close Guantanamo Bay…
OBAMA: Why don’t you sit down and I’ll tell you exactly what I’m going to do. Thank you. Ma’am, thank you. You should let me finish my sentence. Today, I once again call on congress to lift the restrictions on detainee transfers from Gitmo.

… Does Dingy Harry have a Death Wish ?!?! …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Thursday,May 23rd,2013

.. Harry Reid has a notoriously unpleasant and pugnacious personality . Well , part of it comes , no doubt , from the fact that he was an amateur boxer . He seems to be still playing the part , especially in politics .

.. All or nothing . The problem is , if you want to get anything done in the United States Senate , it requires a great deal of give and take . With Reid , when you deal with him , it is all give to him , no give to you . The Senate does not work that way .

.. The way that things are going , things are headed for a showdown . More accurately , a gigantic slowdown . Things move slowly

Harry Reid (D-NV), United States Senator from ...

enough , as it is . It is due primarily to Reid ‘ s power plays and manipulation of the system and the rules .

.. Now , he thinks that he can change the rules , with only a majority vote . Un – Uh ! The Standing Rules of the Senate specify that it take a 2/3rds majority of ALL senators present (i.e. , 67 of 100) to enact a change in the rules . Not a 3/5ths majority . Most of all , not a simple majority of 50+1 (w. Vice-President Biden , if needed , in the chair) .

.. What he is aiming at is the filibuster rule . The G.O.P. and a fair number of Democrats have mounted constant filibusters , in counter to Reid ‘ s manipulation of the legislative rules . It also stretches to nominations , especially judicial ones , when there is no , repeat NO consultation at all with the minority . Really dumb idea .

.. On Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pushed back a vote to confirm Richard Cordray until July. President Obama recess appointed Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and needs to be permanently confirmed by the Senate. Senate GOP have blocked confirmation until serious reform of the over-arching new agency is undertaken. The delay in the vote suggests Reid is setting up a summer fight on eliminating the filibuster for Presidential nominations.

.. A Senate Democrat aide told The Huffington Post that the “plan is to wait until immigration is complete before engaging in total all-out nom[ination] fight.” A July fight over nominations would come, presumably, after immigration but before the budget battles expected this fall.

.. On Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell angrily denounced the potential move. “These continued threats to use the nuclear option point to the Majority’s own culture of intimidation here in the Senate,” McConnell said.

.. “Their view is that you had better confirm the people we want, when we want them, or we’ll break the rules of the Senate to change the rules so you can’t stop us. So much for respecting the rights of the minority. So much for a meaningful application of Advice and Consent.”

.. Reid has threatened the so-called “nuclear option” to eliminate the filibuster several times in the past. The issue has returned after a DC Circuit Court found Obama’s recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board were unconstitutional, as Congress was not in recess. The Court threw out all rulings made while these appointees served on the Board.

.. Cordray was appointed at the same time, casting doubt on whether actions taken by his agency under his direction would be legal.

.. Be careful what you wish for , Dingy Harry . Your move would also establish a precedent , however . Future Republican Presidents would also be able to win approval of their nominees with a simple majority vote . The DemoCraps may want to be careful what they wish for.

… It Makes You Wonder …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Wednesday,May 22nd,2013

It makes you wonder …

.. what else is going on in the ObamaCrap Administration , especially when they are rooting around in a news network ‘ s records . E – mails . A correspondent ‘ s parent ‘ s home phone records . They were also fooling around with Foxnews records for telephoones at critical points , at the news bureau , the State Department , and the White House , itself .

.. They are trying to damage FoxNews . This is really obvious . This has to have a chilling effect on their news gathering efforts , epsc. when their sources are fearful of having their identities revealed .

.. Indirectly , they are going after the Washington Times (Jerry Seper , Rowan Scarborough) , the Washington Examiner (Byron York) , the Washington Free Beacon (Bill  Gertz) , and the American Spectator (R. Emmett Tyrell , Jeff Lord) . They are trying to slow them all down . They may not be able to stop them , but the current media ruckus will make sources think twice about opening up to the media .

.. Their own people . They are also trying to scare their own poeple , so that they will not go leaking dirty laundry to the conservative media . The Conservative Media and the Blogosphere seem to be the only ones pursuing the ObamaCraps .

… More than that , it makes you really wonder , what else is brewing up out there ?My gut tells me that something else is getting ready to pop . It may take a while , but it will be big , maybe even HUGE …

… even more so , according to NewsMax

.. Garrett followed up and asked if questions related to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s fundraising for the Affordable Care Act were also legitimate. Carney grew irritated and responded by referencing conspiracy theories about the president’s birthplace.

.. “You know, we could go down the list of questions — we could say, what about the president’s birth certificate? Were that — was that legitimate?” Carney responded.

..  and now , she has been subpoenaed to appear before  the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee tommorrow . Worse than that , she has signaled her intentions  to , as they say , ” take the  fifth . ”

.. The ObamaCraps should make something clear to her . Either she should appear before Congress , honor the subpoena , and tell the truth , or she should resign . Only then , you can take the fifth . .

.. If they are willing to allow her to continue  in her job , after taking the fifth , without any repercussions , then that is damning evidence against the ObamaCraps .

.. and worse , your statement about the Infernal Service is disgusting .

.. U.S. law allows businesses to do business overseas , and to hold assets , liabilities , and capital overseas . You want the parent to repatriate the profits , not all of the rest . They do business , there . They have built the business , there .  The entity is there .

.. They are allowed to make appropriate arrangements , such as intellectual property exports , to export its licenses (software) to its overseas subsidiaries . Ergo , they  can then do business . Transfer pricing makes sure that both sides (in an arms – length relationship) can accurately and appropriately account for the transaction accurately on their books . Even if the one is a wholly – owned subsidiary of the other .

.. The U.S. tax laws are stupid . They need to be reformed , drastically . Individual income tax rates need to be cut , and , if possible , simplified into a single rate taxsystem . Think of how much money could be saved .

.. Also , the capital gains , inheritance , and corporate tax rules also in need of  drastic overhaul . Cap gains need to be simple , and scaled , to encourage long – term holdings of capital assets . The Inheritance system could be so much simpler , so that all of the waste on tax planning could be re – directed elsewhere , to more productive uses . Those tax rules are so complex , it requires both a tax accountant (CPA) specialist , as well as a tax lawyer , to understand it .

.. Most of all , the immense amount of overseas profits that US companies hold can and should be repatriated , so that they can be put to better use . Instead of just sitting there , earning interest , the corporate Parent can bring in home , create investment here in the U.S. , and jobs here in the U.S. , and do so on a regular basis .

Anyone want to Watch Bob Schieffer of CBS make DannyBoyPfeiffer look like an Idiot

.. believe you me , it is not that hard .

.. Pfeiffer is the ObamaCrap WhiteHouse spokesflack – du – jour . He made the full ” Ginsberg , ” appearing on all five major network Sunday shows . You figure he might have drilled , or practiced for the experience . Or , better yet , had experience before he got his job . OOOOOhhhhh , NNNNNoooo .

.. Schieffer has pretty much had it with this crowd . At least the Clintonoids knew what they were saying , as well as what they were doing , and why . The ObamaCraps are nowhere near as good at it , and their message machine is way beyond second – rate . They should be better at this , but they are not .

Bob Schieffer, chief Washington correspondent ...

]

DAN PFEIFFER, SENIOR WHITE HOUSE ADVISOR: The point that our Chief of Staff is making is that this is the Republican playbook here which is try, when they don’t have a positive agenda, try to drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped up hearings and false allegations. We’re not going to let that distract us and the President from actually doing the people’s work and fighting for the middle class.

BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: You know, I don’t want to compare this in any way to Watergate. I do not think this is Watergate by any stretch. But you weren’t born then I would guess, but I have to tell you that is exactly the approach that the Nixon administration took. They said, “These are all second-rate things. We don’t have time for this. We have to devote our time to the people’s business.” You’re taking exactly the same line they did.

After Pfeiffer continued with evasive talking points, Schieffer again scolded:

SCHIEFFER: But Mr. Pfeiffer, and I don’t mean to be argumentative here, but the President is in charge of the executive branch of the government. It’s my, I’ll just make this as an assertion: when the executive branch does things right, there doesn’t seem to be any hesitancy of the White House to take credit for that. When Osama bin Laden was killed, the President didn’t waste any time getting out there and telling people about it.

But with all of these things, when these things happen, you seem to send out officials many times who don’t even seem to know what has happened. And I use as an example of that Susan Rice who had no connection whatsoever to the events that took place in Benghazi, and yet she was sent out, appeared on this broadcast, and other Sunday broadcasts, five days after it happens, and I’m not here to get in an argument with you about who changed which word in the talking points and all that. The bottom line is what she told the American people that day bore no resemblance to what had happened on the ground in an incident where four Americans were killed.

… What are these ObamaCraps Thinking ??? …

What Are These ObamaCraps Thinking ???

.. A reporter is doing her or his job . Even though , normally , possession of certain material is a very big no – no (ie , illegal) . A reporter , especially one doing their job , is given a certain amount of latitude . It appears that the ObamaCrap Department of InJustice has really done it again .

.. James Rosen is a solid reporter . He is a long – time correspondent for FoxNewsChannel , covering State , Defence , and Intelligence issues . He is not someone who is known for stepping over a line . He has , to my knowledge , a very understated manner , but a very strong professional reputation . How anyone can think of him as the target of any kind of criminal investigation , I do not understand .

.. Well , guess what . Jimmy Rosen , it appears , is on the hot seat . Until now , in secret . The InJustice Department was conducting a criminal investigation , one that you would think would target someone in their own department . Well , no  . They are  going after the media . Again .

.. You think , after the AP imbroglio , they would have learned their lesson . Unfortunately , that appears not to be the case . InJustice is targeting Rosen , but not just him . They are going after another FoxSnooze producer , along with west – coast based correspondent William LaJeunesse . Why ?

.. It appears that they are really mad over getting badly burned on the botched ATF operation that was ” Fast and Furious . ” Well , they are pissed over part and parcel getting out . They are going after a high – profile target . Guess who ! James Rosen .

** here ** read the search warrant affadavit (James Rosen case FNC) for yourself . It is a pdf file , no scribd to fiddle with …

… to quote … [h/t — Newsbusters]

When the Justice Department began investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009, investigators did more than obtain telephone records of a working journalist suspected of receiving the secret material.

They used security badge access records to track the reporter’s comings and goings from the State Department, according to a newly obtained court affidavit. They traced the timing of his calls with a State Department security adviser suspected of sharing the classified report. They obtained a search warrant for the reporter’s personal e – mails.

The case of Stephen Jin-Woo Kim, the government adviser, and James Rosen, the chief Washington correspondent for Fox News, bears striking similarities to a sweeping leaks investigation disclosed last week in which federal investigators obtained records over two months of more than 20 telephone lines assigned to the Associated Press.

… and , to quote … [h/t — the Washington Post]

Obama last week defended the Justice Department’s handling of the investigation involving the AP, which is focused on who leaked information to the news organization about a foiled plot involving the al-Qaeda affiliate in Yemen. AP executives and First Amendment watchdogs have criticized the Justice Department in part for the broad scope of the phone records it secretly subpoenaed from AP offices in Washington, Hartford , Conn., and New York.

“The latest events show an expansion of this law enforcement technique,” said attorney Abbe Lowell, who is defending Kim on federal charges filed in 2010 that he disclosed national defense information. A trial is possible as soon as 2014. “Individual reporters or small time periods have turned into 20 [telephone] lines and months of records with no obvious attempt to be targeted or narrow.”

The president said press freedoms must be balanced against the protection of U.S. personnel overseas. According to the office of Ronald Machen Jr., the U.S. attorney for the District, its prosecutors followed federal regulations by first seeking the information through other means before subpoenaing media phone records. Machen’s office is investigating both the Kim and AP cases. The Justice Department said in a statement that in both cases it had abided by “all applicable laws, regulations, and longstanding Department of Justice policies intended to safeguard the First Amendment interests of the press in reporting the news and the public in receiving it.”

… FoxNewsChannel Statement … [h/t — Twitchy]

” We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co – conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter . In  fact , it is downright  chilling . We will unequivocally defend his right to operate as a member of   [what up   unitl now has always been a free press . ]”

.. One should remember , that it remains an open question whether it is ever illegal , for a reporter to solicit information. No reporter, including Rosen, has been prosecuted for doing so .

… In effect , this is criminalizing news reporting . Where the hell is the Department of InJustice going ? What are they doing ? What are  they thinking ? …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Monday,May 20th,2013

..  I feel very strongly in this case . This man is patently unqualified to be in public service , or to hold any office of trust or profit in our country . Unfortunately , the Senate committee handling his nomination has voted it out , along party lines , sending it to the full United States Senate for confirmation . Why he merits this step , I will never understand .

.. in an ideal world , people like Thomas Perez would be out on the street . Unfortunately , we do not live in one . He is currently in a high position in Mr Obama ‘ s Department of Injustice , and now has been nominated for another as the Secretary of Labour . Now , it is the GOP’s turn to act , and act forcefully . ..

.. Normally , he should be fired , and kicked to the curb . Republicans in the U.S. Senate and like – minded Dems should stand up for principle , as well as for solid grounds , and completely block Perez ‘ s nomination . ..

Steve is right

.. I am referring to Steve Hayes of the Weekly Standard . He is more right than he realizes .

.. Yea , we have received 100 pages of White House – released e – mails . However , I most strongly doubt that this is it . There are likely lots more e – mails than that . According to Neil Munro of the [Daily Caller] , there is a 2 day gap in the process . Uh – Huh , the first 2 days , right after the attacks (September 13th & 14th) . The e – mails and the CYA mode start on September 15th .

… Um, Dan , What the President was or was not Doing Does Matter …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,May 19th,2013

.. POTUS is not just head of state , but head of the government . He is command  responsible for the actions of his appointees (including you , stupid) . What is going on , whether he is aware or not , matters . It always matters .

.. To say it does not is itself offensive , Dan . You would serve Mr. Obama best by submitting your resignation , Dan . You are a disaster as WHCD , and you do not present convincing spin , much less arguments , in presentation of the Administration ‘ s message . What you do do , sucks !

Host Chris Wallace reminds Pfeiffer that Obama didn’t really talk with Secretary   Clinton, Secretary Panetta, or Martin Dempsey ,       chairman of the Joint Chiefs of  Staff, that night. “He was talking to his national security staff,” Pfeiffer insists.

Asked about whether the president entered the Situation Room, Pfeiffer says, “I don’t  remember what room the president was in on that night, and that’s a largely  irrelevant fact.”

Pfeiffer then argues that Wallace’s questions about the president’s handling of the Benghazi terror attack are “offensive.”

.. A transcript on an exchange this morning [May 19th , 2013] from FoxNews’ Fox News Sunday … [h/t the Weekly Standard] .  A video link of the exchange is posted here .

UPDATE: Here’s a full rush transcript of the exchange:

WALLACE: let’s turn to benghazi. he had a meeting with panetta in the afternoon, heard

about this on an unrelated subject, wanted them to deploy forces as soon as possible.

the next time he shows up, hillary clinton says she spoke to him at around 10:00 that

night after the attack at the consulate, not the annex, but the attack at the consulate

had ended. question, what did the president do the rest of that night to pursue

benghazi?

PFEIFFER:  the president was kept up to do throughout the entire night, from the moment

it started till the end. this is a horrible tragedy, people that he sent abroad whose

lives are in risk, people who work for him. i recognize that there’s a series of

conspiracy theories the republicans are spinning about this since the night it

happened, but there’s been an independent review of this, congress has held hearings,

we provided 250,000 pages of — 250,000 pages of documents up there. there’s been 11

hearings, 20 staff briefings. everyone has found the same thing. this is a tragedy. the

question is not what happened that night. the question is what are we going to do to

move forward and ensure it doesn’t happen again? congress should act on what the

president called for earlier this week, to pass legislation to actually allow us to

implement the recommendations of the accountability review board. when we send

diplomats off into far-flung places, there’s inherent risk. we need to mitigate that

risk.

WALLACE: with all due respect, you didn’t answer my question. what did the president do

that night?

PFEIFFER:  kept up to date with the events as they were happening.

WALLACE: he didn’t talk to the secretary of state except for the one time when the

first attack was over. he didn’t talk to the secretary of defense, he didn’t talk to

chiefs. the chairman of the joint who was he talking to?

PFEIFFER:  his national security staff, his national security council.

WALLACE: was he in the situation room?

PFEIFFER:  he was kept up to date throughout the day.

WALLACE: do you know know whether he was in the situation room?

PFEIFFER:  i don’t know what room he was in that night. that’s a largely irrelevant

fact.

WALLACE: well —

PFEIFFER:  the premise of your question, somehow there was something that could have

been done differently, okay, that would have changed the outcome here. the

accountability roof board has looked at this, people have looked at this. it’s a

horrible tragedy, and we have to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

WALLCE: here’s the point, though, the ambassador goes missing, the first ambassador in

more than 30 years is killed. four americans, including the ambassador, are killed.

dozens of americans are in jeopardy. the president at 4:00 in the afternoon says to the

chairman of the joint chiefs to deploy forces. no forces are deployed. where is he

while all this is going on?

PFEIFFER:  this has been tested to by —

WALLACE: well, no. no one knows where he is, who was involved, the —

PFEIFFER:  the suggestion of your question that somehow the president —

WALLACE: i just want to know the answer.

PFEIFFER:  the assertions from republicans that the president didn’t take action is

offensive. there’s no evidence to support it.

WALLACE: i’m simply asking a question. where was he? what did he do? how did he respond

in who told him you can’t deploy forces and what was his president?

PFEIFFER:  the president was in the white house that day, kept up to date by his

national security team, spoke to the join

… Obama ‘ s Indifference to Stupidity and Incompetence …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,May 19th,2013

English: Barack Obama delivers a speech at the...

… POTUS in one of his not-so-fine moments …(Photo credit: Wikipedia)

.. I am amazed , matter of fact , astonished , at the Democrat ‘ s indifference to stupidity , corruption , and incompetence . Democrats in general , and liberals in particular cannot understand what all of the noise from Benghazi is about , though they are willing to concede that the deaths of the American ambassador and his three colleagues were a tragedy .

.. The families of the dead deserve the nation ‘ s thoughts . But whatever bad happened in Benghazi was a bureaucratic failure , and the word at the White House is that bureaucrats can fix it . God help up . Bureaucrats , to the rescue ? No thanks .

.. Our numbnut idiotic loonie left , which judges everything on the scales of expediency , cannot understand why special operators were so willing to jump into the fight , without orders , without being asked . They also cannot understand why these  same people were furious when they were given “stand down” orders .

.. Ordinary Americans have been thrilled with pride to the stories of blood and flesh spent to attempt the rescue of the helpless . Soldiers throughout our nation ‘ s history have redeemed the promise that no one will be left behind . Somebody tried .

.. There is no evidence that this White House appreciates courage , whether it is reckless or otherwise , and the can-do spirit that saves causes that are otherwise lost. Barack Obama prefers to lead from behind . He’ll take the credit if everything works out OK – and if nothing good  works out, he’ll make a nice speech . It is in the DNA .

.. A nation will not long survive the inability to recognize enemies , and the indifference to stupidity , corruption , and incompetence . Our country has to defend itself from all enemies , whether they are foreign , or that they are domestic .

.. So , let the investigations begin.

… Dan Pfeiffer is a Lousy Liar …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Sunday,May 19th,2013

.. you figure that the ObamaCraps would have someone that is effective in the job of White House Communications Director . the WHCD appears often in the media , to carry forth the message of the Administration , and to , at times , put  out fires , when the team is in trouble . So , you figure this guy (or gal) would be effective at his or her job .

.. Well , in this case , Dan Pfeiffer is a washout . A total disaster . He does not know what he is doing . He is waaay in over his head . He should at least know what he is talking about , in basic terms , about policy and process . He does neither one particularly well , at all .

.. Most of all , the ObamaCraps need an effective “liar,” one who can spin the team ‘ s message , even in the toughest of times . Pfeiffer cannot even do that . He has to be believable to make his spin effective . He is most definitely not believable .

.. And , they could not find someone else to be the “water carrier” on the Sunday shows ? Yeah , right . No one wanted to damage their reputation , defending the indefensible …

… Well , I thought that We were supposed to Benefit from this So – Called ” Russian Reset ” …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,May 17th,2013

.. Well , at the least , we are not enemies . Not any more . But , we can hardly call the Russians friends , either . An Adversary would be a more accurate term , at least I think . The Russkis have their interests . We have our own . But we should not be kowtowing to the Russians , in order to keep the peace .

.. Russia is engaged in a major buildup of both nuclear and conventional missile defense systems at the same time Moscow is seeking legal limits on U.S. missile defenses, according to U.S. officials.

.. The Russian military is developing and deploying an array of new and modernized anti-missile interceptors that are part of a strategic doctrine that calls for defending against what Moscow believes to be an increasing threat posed by offensive ballistic missiles .

.. A threat from whom , I wonder . We still have the damn things . Just nowhere near as many as we used to have . At least we still have our strategic triad . At least , for now .

.. Disclosure of the Russian missile defense buildup comes as the Obama administration is seeking to reach an agreement that critics say could result in legally binding restrictions on U.S. defenses. There are also fears an agreement with Russia will compromise classified technical data on missile defense that the administration is considering sharing with Russian officials .

.. One official said the administration is suppressing evidence of the Russian defense buildup . Why am I not surprised .

.. Instead, the White House is pressing ahead with questionable missile defense negotiations with Russia that are aimed at mollifying Moscow’s concerns that U.S. and NATO defenses are covertly aimed at countering Moscow’s strategic arsenal .

.. “What gives?” this official asked. “Why is the United States kowtowing and trying to please the Russians over their concerns about our missile defenses, and no one ever says anything about their missile defenses?” In talks with the Russians on missile defense, Obama administration negotiators have not proposed that the Russians limit their missile defenses as part of any agreement, the officials said .

.. What gives , indeed . Those idiots are supposed to be providing for OUR common defence , not behaving like a bunch of wussies before the Russians .

… Spinning Questions , Making Execuses …

Posted by paulfromwloh on Friday,May 17th,2013

.. I long for the days when there were tough questioners around  . Those who not take

any guff or excuses from politicians . Those who would expect a straight answer , and

wait until they got one .

.. They knew that access to their pages or their show was a currency not to be taken

lightly  . The politicians craved it , like moths to a flame . If one did not give

direct answers often , they would be cut off . Not just for weeks . Months . or ,

possibly even for good , to send a message , to make sure that it was sent and received

. Most of the time , it got thru .

.. These days , the press behaves like sheep . They take what they are given , and

print or broadcast what they are told . The authentic practice of journalism seems to

be an afterthought .

.. Where tough questioners are needed , is when there is a scandal or a crisis .

Politicos seem to have an innate tendency to cover up , when they screw up badly . It

is an instinctive trait , but it should not be done . It should be unlearned . It is

wrong , and it should not happen .

.. Answer the friggin question , the way it was asked , not the way that you want to

answer it . People are owed an honest days work for their tax dollar , and that

includes giving straight answers . Also ,
